1. PR15-Planning and structure of interviews
1. Purposes: eg lifestyle magazine article, lifestyle television or radio
programme article, television or radio documentary, children’s news website,
commercial blog, local television news, national radio news, reality television
contestants
The interview will be a radio programme article that will be speaking about whether
or not it is right too breastfeeding in public. I have chosen to do this topic for my
interview because people are still doing social experiments about it and the
responses are anti-public nursing. Another reason I have chosen this topic is
because it is currently in the news so it is relevant.
2. Interview planning: location; date and time; appropriate setting; recording
methods; ambient considerations; talent liaison considerations; requirements
of interview (technical/Health and safety)
The location of my interview will be recorded in the E6 radio room at Eccles college. I
have chosen to interview a new mum who is pregnant with a second child; I have
chosen this interviewee because if she has breastfed she will be able to tell me a
more modern view of what society has too public nursing and whether this stopped
her from doing it outside.
3. Structuring: question formulation; scripting of interviewer input; consideration
of interview style; definition of structural progression, eg introduction,
progressive questions, summary. It would be a good idea here to write out all
of your questions and label them as Intro/progression/key
questions/soundbites/summary/wind up etc..
The style of my interview would be informal. I have chosen to do my interview in this
style because it will make the interviewee feel more comfortable and she might share
her views than if the interview was in a combative style. I will use a brief introduction
to start the interview then follow the introduction with an open ended question.
