nterested in modernizing your Notes applications but fresh out of silver bullets and magic buttons? If so, join us for an action-packed fun-filled workshop in which we will explore together some of the key ideas and processes needed for a successful modernization project at your company. We will be making use of Design Thinking throughout the workshop, starting with a conversation about the importance of establishing a modernization strategy. We will then look at how tools such as Application insights and TeamWorkr Analytics can be used to build a distinct strategy for each application. Next we look at options for reducing the cost of the modernization using tools such as aveedo, Darwino, Red Pill DIG, Sapho, SWING Seascape, TeamWorkr, and Webinizer. The workshop will conclude with an important discussion about the things every company should already be doing to prepare for a modernization project before we give away a number of great prizes to attendees.

93% of companies plan to migrate or modernize their Notes applications.
You are not alone… Many organizations are looking at Modernizing their Notes/Domino applications to try to remove the Expectation Gap we talked about earlier.
Traditional approaches to modernization usually start this way…
First we find some modernization tool and modernize a single application in the hope we can learn enough to iterate the process.
Our experience is this usually leads to a lot of projects that run over budget, over time, and fall short of expectations.
The right oputcomes arise from carefully considering the desired outcomes and the ensuring the expectations are set before the project gathers steam.
First let’s look a little closer at key aspects of Design Thinking….
During the course of the engagement we make recommendations for each application that will be broken down into:
Retire, Retain, Renew, Replace
We believe that the strategy that should be proposed is not ONE for all the applications.
It’s not about moving everything to Office 365, it’s not about modernizing with a particular product.
We need to go down to each individual application.
So even if the organization have a few applications that they want to move to Office 365, it doesn’t mean that they need to move ALL of them there.
We want to find all applications for which the Domino platform still remains relevant to them.
When customers look at all the options, they have A LOT of choices to make.
So what if we took all of those choices and narrowed it down… <next slide>
…to those products that keep the customers on the Domino platform.
Those of you who attended the Open General Session at Connect 2017 you heard Sheena Lyenga talk about the Jam Study.
In this study a supermarket was setup and in the front of the store they displayed 24 different jams and gave customers vouchers to purchase one of them at a discount and only 3% redeemed them.
The store later went back and displayed only 6 jams and the purchase rate went up to 30%.
Less choice, more purchases.
…to those products that keep the customers on the Domino platform.
We can try to simplify this even further.
The principle behind Red Pill Now is to give people the binary choice of taking the Blue pill or the Red pill. This is obviously direct driven from the movie The Matrix.
But if you think about it… the customer still have to make a choice.
They have to weigh the pros and cons of taking the blue or the red pill.
And in fact, one of the outcomes that DID NOT come up in the movie was: What if I choose not to take any pill at all?
So if we really want to drive actions… <Next Slide>
