Wholemovement explores the creative and educational possibilities of folded paper circles by founder and sculptor, Bradford Hansen-Smith. The experiential process has applications in STEM geometry education as well as informing designers and sculptors about the spatial patterns underlying their work.

1. Folding the circle for information
Wholemovement
circles are simultaneously Whole and parts.

2. Here are a few models folded from 9” paper plates,
some with decreasing diameters and others from 8”
printed paper circles; made between 1994-2011, not in
chronological order. Some have been painted.
All circles are folded to the same equilateral triangle
grid, reconfigured to various frequencies, joined in 3-6,
4-8, and 5-10 symmetry. Connections are made using
masking tape, bobby pins, glue, and some with sewing.
