College Admissions Essay: Amazing Dad
Amazing Dad
A smart, caring, fun loving man, my father is more than just a dad to me. I call him a friend, a
coach, and most importantly a role model. He balances the perfect amount of being strict and letting
me have my freedom. Though we fight, I wouldn't be where I stand today without the guidance of
my dad. Throughout my life he has taught many things that I will never forget. One day, I hope to
grow up and treat my kids, how my dad treated me.
Everyday when I came home from school a warm, delicious dinner awaited me, my sister, and my
mom. My amazing dad works hard to make healthy meals for my family and I. He knows sitting
down and discussing our day over a warm home cooked meal pleases us all. After I eat dinner, I
work on my...show more content...
He wants me to achieve success, while also using his intelligence to get me out of bed. It works
every time. I wake up early and go lift with him. He is a strong, thick man, that enjoys lifting and
coaching me on how to lift. When my dad is pleased with my lift he doesn't say much but, rather,
acknowledges me with a thumbs up. This thumbs up from my dad means more than just good job, it
means everything is going as planned.
Recently, my dad gave me a thumbs up. It was one of the most memorable thumbs up that i have
ever received. We were sitting in the small, colorful doctor's office, because early in the week I
dislocated my collarbone. At wrestling practice, I got slammed on my shoulder, causing huge
amounts of pain. The tall professional looking doctor gave us the worst news ever! He exclaimed
that I needed surgery and will miss my senior year wrestling season. This terrible news shocked
me. With a million things running through my mind, I looked at my dad. He gave me a thumbs up
and told me everything will be ok. We left the hospital, and my dad continued to comfort and fill
me with reassuring words. A day later, we organized a plan to wrestle in college and got everything

My love of reading blossomed when I was a child, because my parents showed me how wonderful
reading is. There were countless nights when I remember myself as a little girl refusing to go to
sleep before 'tucking dad into bed' by reading him a picture book. Not only did I uphold that
tradition though, but my mother is a preschool teacher, so she gets really into reading out loud, and
she would help me read books such as The Boxcar Children set, The Secret of NIMH and The
Chronicles of Narnia weekly until I didn't need help anymore. My favorite books to read on my
own were The Magic Treehouse and Geronimo Stilton because I could become so lost in them–
pretending that I lived in the world that the books described. In my preteen phase, I would sneak
thick chapter books in my room and read all night when my parents...show more content...
One of the biggest turning points for me was my eighth grade year, when I failed my first
spelling test. That was the first year I actually had to study for spelling tests, and I began to lose
hope. I worried that I would never be able to write amazing stories or read experienced books,
because I couldn't just 'wing it' anymore. But my eighth grade reading teacher, Mr. Stanley,
showed me that I could do amazing things with book talks, presentations, and discussions. I found
that towards the end of the year, all I wanted to do was improve myself, because after all, how could
I be a teacher if I never learned anything new? I would love to have this scholarship because I aspire
to become a middle school language arts teacher. Because even though I had many adult figures in
my life that helped instill the love of reading in me, I feel that if I did not have the experience of
my middle school language arts teachers making reading 'cool' I would not still love reading as
much to this

I Am An Amazing Person
Lifelines help an individual realize how close and loved they are by many people. It also helps a
person realize how thanks to many people they have truly become an amazing person. It was hard
for me to decide which person I should write about since I believe every person i 'm close to has
changed me in some way. I actually asked my sister what is something about me that stands out and
she said my positivity, kindness, and loyalty. The main person I thought about when she said that
was a friend I used to have named Cathy. She embodied all three of those traits and more.
Cathy and I first met when we were ten years old. She was very kind and welcoming. She treated
me like I was her sister. I am shy and there was many instances she helped me come out of my
shell and have fun. We both lived in the same neighborhood and played together very often as
well. We both also attended the same school, so we would always hang out during recess. After
school we would go over to my house and help each other with our homework. We were very close
and I considered her like part of my family. Both of our families really did become very close and
friendly to each other. There were many times where she helped me out with my problems and I
always felt like I owed her. One day I had the chance to help her and I felt like that truly defined
what a friend is to me. About two years ago she moved to California and I was heartbroken.
Although I was sad, I followed her philosophy which was finding

Expectations And Expectations In College
Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely
daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate.
College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full
advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be
successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined,
academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this
semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be
able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it
on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA
school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only
would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working
hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable
because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class
to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and
driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my
classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of
class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure
that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my
grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they
were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself
meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my
college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and
walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually.

College Essay : An Ideal College
An Essay on An Ideal College
Everyone has or should have an ideal; something which he can look forward to, of which he may
dream, and for which he may strive. In our colleges we come across many defects or limitations.
We often discuss these among ourselves. And in course of these discussions, and as a result of
them, we come to cherish a vague notion of what would be an ideal college, at last, what we would
regard as an ideal. Here of course I speak mostly for myself.
An ideal college, in my opinion, should consist of a building with well–lighted and spacious rooms,
an extensive playground, well–equipped libraries and laboratories, and learned teachers. These are
essential, and so I will discuss these first.
On the academic side an ideal college should have two kinds of rooms: lecture–rooms and tutorial
rooms. Lecture–rooms should be large enough to accommodate even two to three hundred students
without crowding. In these days of amplifiers, large classes should offer no real difficulty. Only
three must be plenty of light and air to prevent stuffiness. The acoustic arrangements must be such
as to put no undue strain on a lecturer's voice. Tutorial rooms should be spacious enough to
accommodate small classes of ten or fifteen students. Too many lectures are apt to become
monotonous and boring. It would be deal if the ground covered by a lecture broadly is once again
reviewed in the tutorial classes in greater detail and with an eye to individual difficulties of students.

College Essay : My Journey To College
My trip to graduation What has my journey to graduation been like for me? My journey has been a
crazy, fun–filled learning adventure. I met many goals and accomplishments I set for myself but I
also faced some challenges on the way. For example, I finally met my goal of graduating with a
4.6 GPA and maintaining it. Also, I accomplished completing my last four years of grade school
and now I am on the way to college. My last year has been interesting and there are many goals,
accomplishments and challenges I can reflect on. To begin with, I finally made it! I am now
sitting in my seat in the Ted Constant Center and I am about to walk across the stage. It feels like
it took forever for this moment to come but I am here and I feel like I am on top of the world. I
can see my mother sitting in her seat with tears pouring out of eyes because she knows that that I
am about to walk across the stage and start the next stage of my life. It was a long and hard
journey but my goals I had set for myself were a constant push that I could do it. As a matter of
fact, one goal I met was to get into one of the three colleges I applied to and I did. I am ecstatic to
say that I am going to be a freshman at George Mason University this following school year. Not
to mention that I also received a numerous amount of scholarships and grants. On top of that, this
school year the color guard got Grand Champions at a completion we participated in in North
Carolina. I was super excited when they announced us as Grand Champions because we had a lot
of setbacks during the season. Such as, not having an instructor to teach us the work and having
to learn the work from YouTube to having to stay late after the other kids left so we could learn
our week for our show to practicing in the rain. We worked really hard this season and for us to be
announced as Grand Champions shows that our hard work payed off. The goals I set for myself
were met and I couldn't be any happier. Even though I met my goals this past year, I also faced
some challenges. Such as, trying to not stress out from the amount of homework, tests, and quizzes,
trying to not worry about my future and what is going to happen and balancing my friendships. I felt
like crying so

My Most Memorable Experience In College
My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although
it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the
people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories,
but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a
few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the
semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester.
My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the
reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content...
I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my
mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I
obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the
washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since
living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself
is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make
many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks
to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember
getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm
reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to
my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to
write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well,
but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course
of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the
very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection

Miss Amazing Experience
When working with the Miss Amazing pageant it was very humbling to work with these young
ladies that have disabilities. I know day was just as the title states Amazing for these young
women. I have also had the opportunity of working with at least 100 young girls though
Cheerleading and the Big Sister program. This has allowed me to be a role model and hope
provide them with the self confidence they need to be able to get out in front fans to perform.
Working with MMC Ladies Night Out has made our community brighter for the ladies one night a
month. During this time a Dr. from the local Hospital comes and talks about health issues that
women face. I help by greeting the guest, putting out food and providing a fun moment at times.

College Should Be Free
Should the cost of earning a college degree be free? Some students, parents, and educators say that
it is morally wrong for a child to spend their entire life going to public school for free and having
them to just turn around and pay for college. The students, parents, and educators all would agree
that the cost of obtaining a college degree should indeed be free. Those who are against this issue
believe that the students themselves or their parents who are financially able should pay for
some or all of the expense of attending college after all public school students are given a free
ride from elementary to high school. Understanding and considering both sides of the issue, I
strongly stand by the decision stating that the cost of attending college should be free. To begin,
earning a college degree should be based on a students intellectual ability to complete the
curriculum not their ability to meet financial guidelines. Most colleges say that they accept
students who have a two point zero grade point average or higher, standard SAT and ACT scores,
and the twenty four credits needed to graduate, but once a student meets all the qualifications they
are still turned down due to the fact that they are unable to pay the cost that is needed for college.
Students unable to meet federal guidelines in order to receive financial aid also may not qualify for
income based scholarships. In America the cost of living and tuition has increased while the average
household income

My Experience In A College Class
"Welcome Class to Composition one." Those words were voiced by my professor, Mrs.
Robinson, on the first day of school. Initially, I thought to myself, do I even belong in this college
course class. Before school had even begun, the stress over the summer about my English skills
was eating me alive. Why? Well, in my past English classes I received A's on all of my essays, but
this college class did not seem so easy. Also, I was always fascinated by all the arts and sciences,
but English never struck interest in me. I never thought that I could write any decent essays. The
reason I insecure about my writing skills was because of the ACT. Since the ACT is the talk about
how smart an individual is, my ACT score was not very high. As the course continued, the firstessay
approached quickly. I remember being stressed about this essay because of my writing
insecurities. Although I managed to acquire a decent grade, I promised myself to strive to make
myself a better writer. I started to read Norton Field Guide to Writing handbook also known as the
yellow book, and slowly but surely started to develop knowledge of good writing skills and tips to
improve my essays. This allowed me to grow as a writer and slowly my insecurities started to
dwindle, and I began to gain confidence in myself. I never would've thought that the next time I
took the ACT that my English score would be my highest. When getting my score back and
realizing that I had improved so much, I began to wonder how I

My Journey to College Essay
My Journey to College
I first came to the university during spring break of my junior year of high school. At the time I
was just visiting the three main universities in Arizona so that I would be able to make an educated
decision as to where I wanted to get my college education. There were many events showing me the
way to this university and little did I know that these events would come upon me and that they
would show me the doors to the place where I was truly meant to be.
I had a small thought in mind of becoming a chef or something else in the hospitality field. My mom
had heard about NAU's hospitality college and informed me that it was within the top ten. During
our visit to NAU we met with and...show more content...
I then had the dilemma of deciding which dorm I wanted to apply for. This was a large decision for
me seeing as how I had never moved in my life and how this would be my new home for the next
year. I chose Rielly Hall which was the best I could do by looking at pictures online.
After being accepted my mom and I made another visit up to NAU so that I could see the
university with different eyes, eyes that new this was where the journey of my life was heading
next. We arrived at NAU and I was very excited to be on campus once again but with a completely
new perspective. I met with an HRM advisor and talked a little more about the program. At that
time I learned all about their study abroad program. From that information I decide that I wanted
not to just be a hotel and restaurant major but that I wanted to be a full International Hospitality
major. This was going to be a little more work than my original plan but I would get to study abroad
and experience so much culture.
After my meeting with the HRM advisor we headed over to the dorms to check them out. I ended
up walking past Sechrist Hall first and was approached by an NAU student who seemed to be
about a Junior and was an RA on one of the floors. As he approached me he said "Would you like
me to show you around the building". Even

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was
already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even
more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I
finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of
English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be
where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on
the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths
that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an
English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do
that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content...
I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your
own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I
was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this
technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that
shaped me into the writer I am

How will college change my life
"How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to
college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future
working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of
learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth
workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of
study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working
world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being
treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions...show more content...
As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between
a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in
life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally.
The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An
adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule
is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool.
College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set
a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's
help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the
best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree.
College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and
expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to
me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a
chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can
develop life skills outside academics, to be fully

I Was The Most Amazing Woman
I never thought I was the type of person to succeed, let alone thrive in college. That term is utilized
loosely, but it seems fitting as I notice the significant changes in myself that I had only used to dream
about obtaining. It's difficult to discuss these changes without sounding pompous or self–righteous,
but I've come to find a great joy in reflecting on where I came from and where I stand today. I
never expect to actually attend college let alone fall in love with a university that gave me more
than just an education. My mother had grown very sick and I was too scared to think about
moving away from her. The last five years were spent taking care of her and being there whenever
she needed me. I felt like it was my job to stay. She, however, had a different plan. Being the most
amazing woman that my mother is, she wouldn't take no for an answer. For that I am forever
grateful. I found a lifetime organization that would change my life in countless ways, a passion for a
career, and a love for myself. I ended up creating a new chapter in a seemingly hopeless life story
that I had the displeasure to call my own. The day I decided to apply to Eastern Michigan University
was the first step I made towards a happier existence. Eastern was the only college I applied to. I
had the pleasure of attending swim training at Eastern as a young competitive swimmer so campus
didn't seem too intimidating. If I had to find a new place to try to call home, Eastern was the only

Reflective Essay on College Writing
Reflective Essay on College Writing
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the
semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up
to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually
demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college
has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a
thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are
not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free

I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all
until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the
endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite
section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the
most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just
how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many
levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery
in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical
with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from
that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place.
The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I
began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and
looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very
useful. For the Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles
dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and find numerous

Essay On Academic Achievement
Throughout my academic career, it has always been my mission to perform at my best ability. I
did this not only for myself, but also for my family and friends who put their faith in my capacity to
achieve success. It was my family that raised me to be family–oriented and to give my spare time to
those that may need my help. By applying for the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, I am
continuing to strive for the highest level of excellence possible in academics and service to the
community.
Through my grades and persistence, I have proven that academic excellence is a pivotal part of my
education. I believe that I have achieved outstanding academic achievement through my ongoing
evolution as a student, my motivation to better myself, and my desire for success. From freshman
year to junior year, I have evolved and changed in order to learn more effectively and perform
better inside and outside of the classroom. The dynamics of college classes are far different from
what I had experienced in high school. This required me to adapt to the higher level of thinking
that was expected from me. Since freshman year of college, I have actively sought out new study
methods in order to understand classroom material. I realized that simply memorizing the material
for one test would not be beneficial to me in my future career of nursing, so I began to actively
understand the material. Adapting to the higher level of education I have received in college has

My Life As A College Student Essay
Over the course of the last semester, I grew tremendously, not just as a writer but as a student. I
learned skills and tactics that will last me throughout my life and will benefit me once I begin the
next four years of my life as a college student. This early gateway into college writing provided me
with exposure to the expectations that I will face in the college classroom. This will come in
handy in the English classroom, as well as in every subject I will face over the course of the next
four years, and beyond. Writing is a key skill that communicates ideas and information, and is
essential to being successful. Whether I go into the music industry or find myself in a
completely unforeseen career, it is certain that I will use my writing skills at some point. This
class sharpened those skills and prepared me for the future in ways no high school english class
could. This class has challenged me to think more in depth than I ever have before. It forced me to
use my writing as a means of expressing knowledge, ideas, and facts in a clear organized manner. In
order to accomplish the goals of each paper assigned, I found new ways to present the same
information. For example, in every essay I included the theme that governments should be more
involved in the fight against cyber warfare. However, I presented this idea in each paper in different
forms. In the summary, I simply stated what an author of a certain article had to say about this idea.
In the critique, I discussed

My College Essay : Choosing A College
Growing up drags many responsibilities along with it. Many people my age dread having to make
these decisions. Choosing a college for example, is a very stressful and time consuming process that
takes place senior year of high school.
Choosing a college has been a challenging experience. Last year, I planned on going to Highland for
two years until I knew what I wanted to do. After taking the Health Occupations Youth
Apprenticeship (HOYA) program through Highland CommunityCollege I decided I wanted to major
in nursing and earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). At that point I was still planning to
take my gen eds at Highland; however, that changed after going on many college visits. So far, I
have visited 6 different colleges, and I have enjoyed most of them.
From the colleges I have visited, I have narrowed my decision down to two amazing colleges.
University of Wisconsin– Oshkosh and Clarke University in Dubuque are my favorite universities
and I can not wait to be attending one of them. There are many aspects that draw me to these
colleges, such as: location, tuition, student population, environment, dorms, food, activities, and the
quality of education.
When I went to visit colleges, I had a list of expectations and these two schools met them most
closely. The location of the campus is a big deciding factor for me; I am very attached to my parents
so being extremely far away is not an ideal situation for me. Clarke University is only an hour and a

My College Experience : My First Year Of College
My first college experience was at 18 years old, a young 18 I turned 18 in May and moved out of
state to attend a small private college in Indiana in August that same year. Went I graduated
college I thought I was prepared and had all the tools I would need to succeed in college. In high
school I did everything (or so I though) I took advanced placement classes, I had a after school job, I
was dedicated and serious about my classroom. My first week of classes, I felt great, I thought
I've got this no problem. Boy was I wrong. I began to struggle just a few week into classes and
continued to struggle consistently throughout the year. Not just academically, but emotionally too. I
was away from home for the first time, I moved to a new state and new city not knowing anyone
for having the support I needed. After my barely scraping by my first year of college, I decided to
move home and go to Ohio State. Thing did not really improve academically for me there and
after 2 semesters I dropped out. At this point I was married and living on our own, I needed to work.
I put my college education on hold for 11 years. During this time, I got a job as a receptionist in an
office and worked there for 4 years until I was laid off. I few weeks later, I receive another
receptionist job which lead to my career in Project Management. I worked as a project manager for 5
years, but still aspired to go back to college. However, having 3 kids, a husband, dog, house, and a

Amazing College Essays

  • 1. College Admissions Essay: Amazing Dad Amazing Dad A smart, caring, fun loving man, my father is more than just a dad to me. I call him a friend, a coach, and most importantly a role model. He balances the perfect amount of being strict and letting me have my freedom. Though we fight, I wouldn't be where I stand today without the guidance of my dad. Throughout my life he has taught many things that I will never forget. One day, I hope to grow up and treat my kids, how my dad treated me. Everyday when I came home from school a warm, delicious dinner awaited me, my sister, and my mom. My amazing dad works hard to make healthy meals for my family and I. He knows sitting down and discussing our day over a warm home cooked meal pleases us all. After I eat dinner, I work on my...show more content... He wants me to achieve success, while also using his intelligence to get me out of bed. It works every time. I wake up early and go lift with him. He is a strong, thick man, that enjoys lifting and coaching me on how to lift. When my dad is pleased with my lift he doesn't say much but, rather, acknowledges me with a thumbs up. This thumbs up from my dad means more than just good job, it means everything is going as planned. Recently, my dad gave me a thumbs up. It was one of the most memorable thumbs up that i have ever received. We were sitting in the small, colorful doctor's office, because early in the week I dislocated my collarbone. At wrestling practice, I got slammed on my shoulder, causing huge amounts of pain. The tall professional looking doctor gave us the worst news ever! He exclaimed that I needed surgery and will miss my senior year wrestling season. This terrible news shocked me. With a million things running through my mind, I looked at my dad. He gave me a thumbs up and told me everything will be ok. We left the hospital, and my dad continued to comfort and fill me with reassuring words. A day later, we organized a plan to wrestle in college and got everything worked Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My love of reading blossomed when I was a child, because my parents showed me how wonderful reading is. There were countless nights when I remember myself as a little girl refusing to go to sleep before 'tucking dad into bed' by reading him a picture book. Not only did I uphold that tradition though, but my mother is a preschool teacher, so she gets really into reading out loud, and she would help me read books such as The Boxcar Children set, The Secret of NIMH and The Chronicles of Narnia weekly until I didn't need help anymore. My favorite books to read on my own were The Magic Treehouse and Geronimo Stilton because I could become so lost in them– pretending that I lived in the world that the books described. In my preteen phase, I would sneak thick chapter books in my room and read all night when my parents...show more content... One of the biggest turning points for me was my eighth grade year, when I failed my first spelling test. That was the first year I actually had to study for spelling tests, and I began to lose hope. I worried that I would never be able to write amazing stories or read experienced books, because I couldn't just 'wing it' anymore. But my eighth grade reading teacher, Mr. Stanley, showed me that I could do amazing things with book talks, presentations, and discussions. I found that towards the end of the year, all I wanted to do was improve myself, because after all, how could I be a teacher if I never learned anything new? I would love to have this scholarship because I aspire to become a middle school language arts teacher. Because even though I had many adult figures in my life that helped instill the love of reading in me, I feel that if I did not have the experience of my middle school language arts teachers making reading 'cool' I would not still love reading as much to this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. I Am An Amazing Person Lifelines help an individual realize how close and loved they are by many people. It also helps a person realize how thanks to many people they have truly become an amazing person. It was hard for me to decide which person I should write about since I believe every person i 'm close to has changed me in some way. I actually asked my sister what is something about me that stands out and she said my positivity, kindness, and loyalty. The main person I thought about when she said that was a friend I used to have named Cathy. She embodied all three of those traits and more. Cathy and I first met when we were ten years old. She was very kind and welcoming. She treated me like I was her sister. I am shy and there was many instances she helped me come out of my shell and have fun. We both lived in the same neighborhood and played together very often as well. We both also attended the same school, so we would always hang out during recess. After school we would go over to my house and help each other with our homework. We were very close and I considered her like part of my family. Both of our families really did become very close and friendly to each other. There were many times where she helped me out with my problems and I always felt like I owed her. One day I had the chance to help her and I felt like that truly defined what a friend is to me. About two years ago she moved to California and I was heartbroken. Although I was sad, I followed her philosophy which was finding Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Expectations And Expectations In College Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate. College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined, academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually. • 5. College Essay : An Ideal College An Essay on An Ideal College Everyone has or should have an ideal; something which he can look forward to, of which he may dream, and for which he may strive. In our colleges we come across many defects or limitations. We often discuss these among ourselves. And in course of these discussions, and as a result of them, we come to cherish a vague notion of what would be an ideal college, at last, what we would regard as an ideal. Here of course I speak mostly for myself. An ideal college, in my opinion, should consist of a building with well–lighted and spacious rooms, an extensive playground, well–equipped libraries and laboratories, and learned teachers. These are essential, and so I will discuss these first. On the academic side an ideal college should have two kinds of rooms: lecture–rooms and tutorial rooms. Lecture–rooms should be large enough to accommodate even two to three hundred students without crowding. In these days of amplifiers, large classes should offer no real difficulty. Only three must be plenty of light and air to prevent stuffiness. The acoustic arrangements must be such as to put no undue strain on a lecturer's voice. Tutorial rooms should be spacious enough to accommodate small classes of ten or fifteen students. Too many lectures are apt to become monotonous and boring. It would be deal if the ground covered by a lecture broadly is once again reviewed in the tutorial classes in greater detail and with an eye to individual difficulties of students. • 6. College Essay : My Journey To College My trip to graduation What has my journey to graduation been like for me? My journey has been a crazy, fun–filled learning adventure. I met many goals and accomplishments I set for myself but I also faced some challenges on the way. For example, I finally met my goal of graduating with a 4.6 GPA and maintaining it. Also, I accomplished completing my last four years of grade school and now I am on the way to college. My last year has been interesting and there are many goals, accomplishments and challenges I can reflect on. To begin with, I finally made it! I am now sitting in my seat in the Ted Constant Center and I am about to walk across the stage. It feels like it took forever for this moment to come but I am here and I feel like I am on top of the world. I can see my mother sitting in her seat with tears pouring out of eyes because she knows that that I am about to walk across the stage and start the next stage of my life. It was a long and hard journey but my goals I had set for myself were a constant push that I could do it. As a matter of fact, one goal I met was to get into one of the three colleges I applied to and I did. I am ecstatic to say that I am going to be a freshman at George Mason University this following school year. Not to mention that I also received a numerous amount of scholarships and grants. On top of that, this school year the color guard got Grand Champions at a completion we participated in in North Carolina. I was super excited when they announced us as Grand Champions because we had a lot of setbacks during the season. Such as, not having an instructor to teach us the work and having to learn the work from YouTube to having to stay late after the other kids left so we could learn our week for our show to practicing in the rain. We worked really hard this season and for us to be announced as Grand Champions shows that our hard work payed off. The goals I set for myself were met and I couldn't be any happier. Even though I met my goals this past year, I also faced some challenges. Such as, trying to not stress out from the amount of homework, tests, and quizzes, trying to not worry about my future and what is going to happen and balancing my friendships. I felt like crying so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Most Memorable Experience In College My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories, but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester. My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content... I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well, but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Miss Amazing Experience When working with the Miss Amazing pageant it was very humbling to work with these young ladies that have disabilities. I know day was just as the title states Amazing for these young women. I have also had the opportunity of working with at least 100 young girls though Cheerleading and the Big Sister program. This has allowed me to be a role model and hope provide them with the self confidence they need to be able to get out in front fans to perform. Working with MMC Ladies Night Out has made our community brighter for the ladies one night a month. During this time a Dr. from the local Hospital comes and talks about health issues that women face. • 9. College Should Be Free Should the cost of earning a college degree be free? Some students, parents, and educators say that it is morally wrong for a child to spend their entire life going to public school for free and having them to just turn around and pay for college. The students, parents, and educators all would agree that the cost of obtaining a college degree should indeed be free. Those who are against this issue believe that the students themselves or their parents who are financially able should pay for some or all of the expense of attending college after all public school students are given a free ride from elementary to high school. Understanding and considering both sides of the issue, I strongly stand by the decision stating that the cost of attending college should be free. To begin, earning a college degree should be based on a students intellectual ability to complete the curriculum not their ability to meet financial guidelines. Most colleges say that they accept students who have a two point zero grade point average or higher, standard SAT and ACT scores, and the twenty four credits needed to graduate, but once a student meets all the qualifications they are still turned down due to the fact that they are unable to pay the cost that is needed for college. Students unable to meet federal guidelines in order to receive financial aid also may not qualify for income based scholarships. In America the cost of living and tuition has increased while the average household income Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Experience In A College Class "Welcome Class to Composition one." Those words were voiced by my professor, Mrs. Robinson, on the first day of school. Initially, I thought to myself, do I even belong in this college course class. Before school had even begun, the stress over the summer about my English skills was eating me alive. Why? Well, in my past English classes I received A's on all of my essays, but this college class did not seem so easy. Also, I was always fascinated by all the arts and sciences, but English never struck interest in me. I never thought that I could write any decent essays. The reason I insecure about my writing skills was because of the ACT. Since the ACT is the talk about how smart an individual is, my ACT score was not very high. As the course continued, the firstessay approached quickly. I remember being stressed about this essay because of my writing insecurities. Although I managed to acquire a decent grade, I promised myself to strive to make myself a better writer. I started to read Norton Field Guide to Writing handbook also known as the yellow book, and slowly but surely started to develop knowledge of good writing skills and tips to improve my essays. This allowed me to grow as a writer and slowly my insecurities started to dwindle, and I began to gain confidence in myself. I never would've thought that the next time I took the ACT that my English score would be my highest. When getting my score back and realizing that I had improved so much, I began to wonder how I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Journey to College Essay My Journey to College I first came to the university during spring break of my junior year of high school. At the time I was just visiting the three main universities in Arizona so that I would be able to make an educated decision as to where I wanted to get my college education. There were many events showing me the way to this university and little did I know that these events would come upon me and that they would show me the doors to the place where I was truly meant to be. I had a small thought in mind of becoming a chef or something else in the hospitality field. My mom had heard about NAU's hospitality college and informed me that it was within the top ten. During our visit to NAU we met with and...show more content... I then had the dilemma of deciding which dorm I wanted to apply for. This was a large decision for me seeing as how I had never moved in my life and how this would be my new home for the next year. I chose Rielly Hall which was the best I could do by looking at pictures online. After being accepted my mom and I made another visit up to NAU so that I could see the university with different eyes, eyes that new this was where the journey of my life was heading next. We arrived at NAU and I was very excited to be on campus once again but with a completely new perspective. I met with an HRM advisor and talked a little more about the program. At that time I learned all about their study abroad program. From that information I decide that I wanted not to just be a hotel and restaurant major but that I wanted to be a full International Hospitality major. This was going to be a little more work than my original plan but I would get to study abroad and experience so much culture. After my meeting with the HRM advisor we headed over to the dorms to check them out. I ended up walking past Sechrist Hall first and was approached by an NAU student who seemed to be about a Junior and was an RA on one of the floors. As he approached me he said "Would you like me to show you around the building". Even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. How will college change my life "How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions...show more content... As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can develop life skills outside academics, to be fully Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. I Was The Most Amazing Woman I never thought I was the type of person to succeed, let alone thrive in college. That term is utilized loosely, but it seems fitting as I notice the significant changes in myself that I had only used to dream about obtaining. It's difficult to discuss these changes without sounding pompous or self–righteous, but I've come to find a great joy in reflecting on where I came from and where I stand today. I never expect to actually attend college let alone fall in love with a university that gave me more than just an education. My mother had grown very sick and I was too scared to think about moving away from her. The last five years were spent taking care of her and being there whenever she needed me. I felt like it was my job to stay. She, however, had a different plan. Being the most amazing woman that my mother is, she wouldn't take no for an answer. For that I am forever grateful. I found a lifetime organization that would change my life in countless ways, a passion for a career, and a love for myself. I ended up creating a new chapter in a seemingly hopeless life story that I had the displeasure to call my own. The day I decided to apply to Eastern Michigan University was the first step I made towards a happier existence. Eastern was the only college I applied to. I had the pleasure of attending swim training at Eastern as a young competitive swimmer so campus didn't seem too intimidating. If I had to find a new place to try to call home, Eastern was the only place I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflective Essay on College Writing Reflective Essay on College Writing This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content... I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place. The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very useful. For the Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and find numerous Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay On Academic Achievement Throughout my academic career, it has always been my mission to perform at my best ability. I did this not only for myself, but also for my family and friends who put their faith in my capacity to achieve success. It was my family that raised me to be family–oriented and to give my spare time to those that may need my help. By applying for the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, I am continuing to strive for the highest level of excellence possible in academics and service to the community. Through my grades and persistence, I have proven that academic excellence is a pivotal part of my education. I believe that I have achieved outstanding academic achievement through my ongoing evolution as a student, my motivation to better myself, and my desire for success. From freshman year to junior year, I have evolved and changed in order to learn more effectively and perform better inside and outside of the classroom. The dynamics of college classes are far different from what I had experienced in high school. This required me to adapt to the higher level of thinking that was expected from me. Since freshman year of college, I have actively sought out new study methods in order to understand classroom material. I realized that simply memorizing the material for one test would not be beneficial to me in my future career of nursing, so I began to actively understand the material. Adapting to the higher level of education I have received in college has helped me become a more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Life As A College Student Essay Over the course of the last semester, I grew tremendously, not just as a writer but as a student. I learned skills and tactics that will last me throughout my life and will benefit me once I begin the next four years of my life as a college student. This early gateway into college writing provided me with exposure to the expectations that I will face in the college classroom. This will come in handy in the English classroom, as well as in every subject I will face over the course of the next four years, and beyond. Writing is a key skill that communicates ideas and information, and is essential to being successful. Whether I go into the music industry or find myself in a completely unforeseen career, it is certain that I will use my writing skills at some point. This class sharpened those skills and prepared me for the future in ways no high school english class could. This class has challenged me to think more in depth than I ever have before. It forced me to use my writing as a means of expressing knowledge, ideas, and facts in a clear organized manner. In order to accomplish the goals of each paper assigned, I found new ways to present the same information. For example, in every essay I included the theme that governments should be more involved in the fight against cyber warfare. However, I presented this idea in each paper in different forms. In the summary, I simply stated what an author of a certain article had to say about this idea. In the critique, I discussed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. My College Essay : Choosing A College Growing up drags many responsibilities along with it. Many people my age dread having to make these decisions. Choosing a college for example, is a very stressful and time consuming process that takes place senior year of high school. Choosing a college has been a challenging experience. Last year, I planned on going to Highland for two years until I knew what I wanted to do. After taking the Health Occupations Youth Apprenticeship (HOYA) program through Highland CommunityCollege I decided I wanted to major in nursing and earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). At that point I was still planning to take my gen eds at Highland; however, that changed after going on many college visits. So far, I have visited 6 different colleges, and I have enjoyed most of them. From the colleges I have visited, I have narrowed my decision down to two amazing colleges. University of Wisconsin– Oshkosh and Clarke University in Dubuque are my favorite universities and I can not wait to be attending one of them. There are many aspects that draw me to these colleges, such as: location, tuition, student population, environment, dorms, food, activities, and the quality of education. When I went to visit colleges, I had a list of expectations and these two schools met them most closely. The location of the campus is a big deciding factor for me; I am very attached to my parents so being extremely far away is not an ideal situation for me. Clarke University is only an hour and a half Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My College Experience : My First Year Of College My first college experience was at 18 years old, a young 18 I turned 18 in May and moved out of state to attend a small private college in Indiana in August that same year. Went I graduated college I thought I was prepared and had all the tools I would need to succeed in college. In high school I did everything (or so I though) I took advanced placement classes, I had a after school job, I was dedicated and serious about my classroom. My first week of classes, I felt great, I thought I've got this no problem. Boy was I wrong. I began to struggle just a few week into classes and continued to struggle consistently throughout the year. Not just academically, but emotionally too. I was away from home for the first time, I moved to a new state and new city not knowing anyone for having the support I needed. After my barely scraping by my first year of college, I decided to move home and go to Ohio State. Thing did not really improve academically for me there and after 2 semesters I dropped out. At this point I was married and living on our own, I needed to work. I put my college education on hold for 11 years. During this time, I got a job as a receptionist in an office and worked there for 4 years until I was laid off. I few weeks later, I receive another receptionist job which lead to my career in Project Management. I worked as a project manager for 5 years, but still aspired to go back to college. However, having 3 kids, a husband, dog, house, and a laundry list of other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
