I found out that the majority of the people would prefer to see images
on the front cover (90%) and 10% of the majority would prefer to see a
masthead as a feature.

The majority said that in order for the front cover of a magazine to
be successful you need to include all the features such as a clear
image, clear/bold font, good colour use and it needs to be aimed at
the right target audience however 43% of the majority said it would
be better if there was a clear image.

I found out that for a hip-hop magazine the front cover should have
images/thumbnails of hip-hop artists as that was 60% of the majority and
others said you could also include images of RnB artists(10%) and popular
artists (30%).

I found out that the main features the majority would expect to see on a
contents page is page numbers (56%) as the reader would want to know
what the magazine contains and what page number the stories are on. 25%
said the main feature would be images.

The majority of the people said no, the contents page should not include
information about the other pages however I disagree and will be going against
the feedback as I am ‘repeating’ (Steve Neale) what most magazines include n
their contents page as this will allow my magazine to be professional and
successful.

50% of the majority said that the contents page should mainly include a
lot of information this may be due to all the information about the other
pages that needs to be included.

The main and codes and conventions that were picked for a double page
spread were images (37%) and interviews (26%) so I will include an interview
into my double page and also add images of the hip hop artists ‘Star appeal’
(Richard Dyer).

90% of the majority said that the colour scheme that is used on the front
cover should also be used on the contents page and double page spread
should be the same throughout. I am going to follow this and keep the
colour scheme the same throughout my front cover and contents page as
they are information to do with the magazine and the double page spread
will have a different colour scheme as the colours will need to suit the
story.

I asked the majority what kind of person they would interview for a hip-hop
magazine and they said a hip-hop artist as they will talk about the right
information to do with hip-hop music.

11. What colours would you most likely see on a
hip-hop magazine?

The majority of the population said that they would most likely see
the colour black on a hip-hop magazine (32%). Yellow and red were
both at 21% so this connotes that most hip-hop magazines may use
those two colours so I will use black and red for my magazine so it
can look professional.
