Bob Chaput, CISSP, MA, MCSE, CHP, CHSS

Over the past 35 years, Bob has worked as an educator, an executive and an entrepreneur. He
has assisted businesses and individuals in developing highly secure information technology (IT) strategies
that are tightly linked with their business strategies and goals. His workshops, seminars, writings and
consultations reflect his knowledge, humor, enthusiasm and vision. Given world events, increasingly
more stringent security and privacy regulations around safeguarding personal and healthcare
information (PII and PHI) along with increased business dependency on technology, his passion and focus
is helping organizations become and remain compliant with HIPAA and HITECH regulations.

He doesn’t simply write about and talk about it! He’s been there, done that and continues to be
an active information security and regulatory compliance executive. Bob is no stranger to managing and
protecting large amounts of data – his experience includes managing some of the world’s largest
healthcare databases, requiring the highest levels of security and privacy. Bob’s experience as an EVP &
CIO and general manager of leading publically-traded global organizations at GE, Johnson & Johnson and
Healthways for 30+ years equips him to help others make informed decisions about information privacy
and security and implement more effective solutions. His business career spans many years of
increasingly greater responsibility for all aspects of regulatory compliance and information security, with
20+ of those years covering the highly data-regulated healthcare industry. As an educator, he has
continued to expand and update his knowledge base through post graduate study, earning professional
certifications and participating in professional healthcare and other organizations.

In addition to his practical experience, he holds the Certified Information Systems Security
Professional (CISSP), Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP), Certified HIPAA Security Specialist (CHSS) and
numerous other technical certifications. Mr. Chaput earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in
mathematics and two advanced certificates from the Vanderbilt School of Engineering. He has been an
adjunct faculty member at Belmont University and the ITT Technical Institute.

Bob is listed in Who’s Who of American Executives and is a member of ACHE, HIMSS, HCCA,
HIMSS, AHIMA and ISSA. He is active in the community and has served on several non-profit and advisory
boards. He mostly recently served on the executive committee of the Board of the Nashville Technology
Council for several years. Currently Bob serves on the Advisory Board of iQuantifi, a web-based financial
planning services firm.

Mr. Chaput created and moderates the HIPAA HITECH Blue Ribbon Panel™, a group of industry
experts who provide robust discussions on these regulations in monthly forums. His company is a Co-
Sponsor of ANSI’s PHI Project, a study of risks and costs associated with the unauthorized disclosure in
addition to his participation on the Oversight Committee.

Mr. Chaput has given speeches and delivered live webinars to numerous MGMA chapters, healthcare
associations, the ACHE, SIM and the COO Forum, among others to several thousand attendees. He is an
