2. Role of the Camera
Where you put the camera is where you are visually and
emotionally putting the audience.
3. Animation Analysis
Various Clips through out
the short
animation, demonstrating
the different uses of a
camera.
4. The Camera Can Prepare
So the camera can prepare the audience for a sequence
of events that is about to happen, by highlighting key
aspects of the story.
5.
6. Camera Displays Personalities
The camera also shows the audience which character
they should be focused on. Especially when in a
conversation. Depending on what they consider more
important the camera might be focused on the person
talking or on the one reacting. However cutting back
between the two can show the two personalities.
10. Camera Can Shift Power
The camera can also display a change in power between
two characters by changing the angle in which they are
seen.
11.
12. Live Action Analysis
Clips taken from the final
showdown between Tyler
and The Narrator,
demonstrating the
different uses of a camera.
13. The Camera Can Remind
The camera can also remind the audience of a key plot
in the story that has already been revealed to
them, making it easier to follow the story.
14.
15. The Camera Can Enhance
The camera can also enhance someone's status over
another by looking up at them to make them appear
bigger or look down down, to make them come across
as weak. The camera angle can also be tilted to create a
sense of distress.
16.
17. Camera Can Reveal a Location
A long shot can be used to highlight a fast paced
sequence where the characters moves a lot, it also
shows the his surroundings so you know where he is.
18.
19. Camera Can Build Tension
The method of cutting back and forth between two
people can also create tension if with each cut the
camera gets closer.
20.
21. Comparison
Use the same methods to display their characters in
certain way but they approach the filming and editing
differently. In live action they have a master shot and
they edit closes up, etc. into that. However with
animation, there is no master shot, the editing is done
before hand. So you have to really think about how you
want your character to come across and how you want
your story to be told before animation begins.
22. Conclusion
Placing the camera in these various positions, distances
and angles you can create a more power personality
and story.
