If previous governments (corporate history) didn’t do well, painstakingly and piece by piece, establish the art and discipline of doing it which may not be achieved overnight but may also result to smooth transition in the forthcoming years in terms of accountability and document preparation (corporate governance).

nows her corporate responsibility upon entering librarians’ professional
organizations.
Leading a library-based or librarians’
professional organization is likened to bringing
its board members to the highlands not only for
fun travel (competence) but for scholarship
(character) and book donations (charity) as well.
Travel advisories are important. When they fail
to notice or overlook advisories, deliberately or
not, is a joiner’s and/or an officer’s
responsibility. How would they fail to notice
when they are sent regularly and translated into
many forms like e-mail message, text message to
cell phones, regular meetings?
An organization’s constitution and by-laws
obliges each to recite verse by verse as a one-
time act to internalize one’s roles, duties and
functions during its turn-over and planning
month.
Have high regard for corporate business
calendars and turn-over of corporate records
namely minutes of meetings, financial report,
registration & license, activity documentation,
evaluation reports, photos and the like. The
corporate secretary is honorable little president
for having these corporate documents in her
possession. If previous governments (corporate
history) didn’t do well, painstakingly and
piece by piece, establish the art and
discipline of doing it which may not be
achieved overnight but may also result
to smooth transition in the forthcoming
years in terms of accountability and
document preparation (corporate
governance).
While in the process, others may not feel well
about this and tedious to some but make sure to
keep current set of minutes reflect what everyone
debates, argues on and decisions arrived at and
used including what anyone discovers. Avoid
pre-judgments, and, just like any professional,
be solid with your core – competence,
character and charity. Be alarmed and
stimulate transparency among board members,
all the more, when there is an absence of an
approved and official organization’s manual.
Journeying to highlands may not be, at all times,
safe, but also thrilling. Be inspired and with
perseverance – remain looking at your primary
corporate goals and/or directions. When
problems get stirred and/or accusations appear,
after a year or so, standstill with corporate
records, e.g. minutes of board meetings,
while others don’t and excuse themselves. Pray
for those who may have been given the privilege
to provide and recollect, published or not.
If you can and be like the innovative St. John
Baptist De La Salle, who met opposition, too,
from authorities but succeeded.
“De la Salle was a man of refined manners, a cultured mind,
and great practical ability, in whom personal prosperity was
balanced with kindness and affability.” (USLS)
And to celebrate and live one’s core,
competence, character and charity, six (6)
mantras a librarian may utilize while you may
create a personal seventh (7th) mantra to
complete – one (1) per day for the whole week:
Monday, I will think before I speak;
Tuesday, To speak gently and politely and not
rudely or harshly is my art of speaking;
Wednesday, I love myself and I should injure
no one;
Thursday, I can conquer myself and be the
greatest of all the conquerors;
Friday, I am a man who knows how to avoid
problems by being careful about what I say;
and,
Saturday, I have controlled thoughts, I have
controlled words, I have controlled actions.
Controlled thoughts, controlled words,
controlled actions make me harmless and
noble.
