25. Now, I would like to tell you a
secret
I have always wanted to learn how
to dance, but I thought of myself as
being rather clumsy, and that it's the
best for everyone if I keep myself off
the dance floor
26. But don't ask how – one evening I
found myself trying to do the cha cha
cha dance in a studio full of people
of all ages, and they were all
dancing around, just like in "Dancing
with the stars".
27. "Oh my god"
I thought to myself, if only I could
make myself disappear. I was so
embarrassed.
“What am I doing here?”
28. "Me, a 60 year old clumsy professor
of economics, the head of the
Economics department and Finance
department, with a P.D. – standing
here in between all these sexy
people that were moving their
body's to this fun Latin rhythm
29. I tried to follow the steps.
But it was too difficult for me.
In fact, even lifting my feet off the
floor was almost impossible
30. And then, it hit me!
This is what I need!
With this I can fight P.D.
31. One of the guys turned to me and
said: "you'll have to do miles and
miles of Cha Cha cha before you can
do it well".
33. I am a lifelong student. So I said
to myself - If I am going to dance I
WILL learn HOW to dance, not just
move around like a clumsy Prof
on the dance floor.
34. I took a dance class. Once a week.
Then I took a class twice a week.
And then three. Soon enough, a
day without a dance class is a
wasted day
35. I started dancing every day. It was
not easy, every step felt like battle.
When I am dancing I am
confronting the disease at every
twist and turn, every stretch and
bend!
36. But, slowly I started to feel better!
I started to feel like I am gaining
more and more control over my
body.
38. I started dancing every day. It was
not easy, every step felt like battle.
When I am dancing I am
confronting the disease at every
twist and turn, every stretch and
bend!
47. All these together give
the P.D patient queing,
brain stimulation,
enjoyment, and a lot of
positive energy
48. Ladies and gentlemen,
7 years ago I was diagnosed to
have a PARKINSON DISEASE.
Today I dance Rumba, Tango,
Bachatta, Salsa, Merenge, Waltz and,
of course, Cha Cha Cha….
