The document outlines plans for a project called Equipoise that aims to promote gender equality in the film industry. It will engage students from colleges and universities in Leeds through film workshops to encourage more female-led stories. The students' short films will be screened at a film festival featuring talks from women film professionals. Funding will come from ticket sales, donations from a crowdfunding campaign, and sponsorships to support the venues, speakers and transportation costs. The goal is to get more women involved in filmmaking careers and showcase existing talent.
2. OUR CAUSE
Our reason driving this project is a belief in equality:
Equal treatment
Equal representation
Equal opportunity
3. "We’re viewed as equals — but we’re still not
there yet. [...] The challenge for our girls, I think,
is dealing with that resistance. How can we lift
and defuse it, how do we make it so our equality
is not so threatening? Our girls are going to have
to contend with that. I contend with it right now
in every realm I operate in.“ – Meryl Streep
“To every woman who gave birth, to every
taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have
fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s
our time to have wage equality once and for
all and equal rights for women […]”– Patricia
Arquette
