A procedure is a non-fiction framework that outlines how something is don
Procedures include an opening statement of an aim or a goal, materials or
of steps and an evaluation to comment on the success (or not) of the proce
Examples of procedures include recipes, experiments, instructions or direc

Lesson components
Part 1-Minds On
  • Activate prior knowledge on Procedure Writing
  • Explain and list on the chart paper: Purpose, Materials, Steps and Co
  • Provide exemplars in a folder with a sticky note and have students an
     characteristics of the writing in 4 groups of 3
  • Share their findings

20 Minutes
Part 2-Action
Students will work in small groups/pairs to complete a procedure piece. So
text (differentiated instruction)

10 minutes
Part 3-Cosolidation

Congress

  • How have you completed the task?
   What transitional words could be used in your procedure writing? ( e.
   What did we learn about procedure writing today?
      1. Steps are in order
      2. It is a way to explain how to do or make something
      3. Could be recipes, game instruction, directions

Students come up to the Promethean Board, one at a time, to place the pic

Discuss with students how they completed the task.
