Understanding Luteinizing hormone

Sharon asks…
Why don’t bodybuilders take LH supplements instead of
Testosterone?
Since LH instructs the testes to produce testosterone wouldn’t taking LH increase
testosterone just like steroids do? Just that the body would produce it itself, instead of getting it
from an exogenous source.
Thanks!
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Supplements that increase testosterone production in the testes can only increase it a certain
amount, there is a limit to how much the testes can produce.
Injecting steroids can give you 300%, 400% or more testosterone than your testes could ever
produce naturally. So they would have a lot more dramatic effect.

If you have low LH and LOW Testosterone.
What can kickstart your LH production to make more testosterone?
Would HCG be the answer? or clomid?
and do you need to stay on the drugs to keep test high or can you come off them. and still keep
high t levels.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
NO DRUGS.
Exercise is the best way to increase your testosterone. Read below:
EXERCISE REGULARLY
In addition to improving mental and physical health, regular exercise promotes healthy sexual
function and helps to improve sexual virility. Aim to exercise at least 4-5 times per week,
incorporating moderate cardiovascular exercise in addition to strength training. Regular exercise
promotes healthy blood circulation and increases testosterone and growth hormone levels, all of
which promote increased sexual virility and sexual function.

3. Linda asks…
I have high testosterone, but low LH and FSH, what does that
mean?
I had a blood test after submitting a semen sample that came back low and my testosterone
was high (514 ng/dL) but my LH & FSH came back real low.
Is there any good news in this?
My doctor is on leave until Friday so its rough waiting.

4. Susan asks…
how could lh and testosterone levels be low?
both lh levels and testosterone level are low i was wondering what causes
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
You need to understand that it may not be possible to isolate the cause. You could be dealing
with a primary malfunction of your hypothalamus which is not sending the message to the
pituitary gland which in turn notifies the ovaries to make hormones. Or it might just be a pituitary
gland failure. Then again everything in the brain may be working and the ovaries are just not
responding to the messages making this a primary ovarian failure. As you can see it is hard to
tell for sure. It is important to rule out tumor in either the brain or pituitary gland
In any case seek hormone replacement – bio – identical are best.Monitor carefully with blood
work and you should notice a change.

5. when is the best time to get tested for testosterone and FSH LH?
i have a blood test appointment. i can go anytime but i need to know when is the best time.
should i eat?
should i not weigh train for at least a week?
no meat etc..
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
The best time is in the morning when your doctor first comes in to see patients (or the nurse)
because your testosterone is at it’s peak in the morning. You don’t have to fast for a
testosterone test but you do for a CBC, completer blood count.
Mandy asks…

6. I have hypothyroidism and my LH, FSH and testosterone were all normal but low in the range.
Can hypothyroidism cause this?
Thanks
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Yes, you may have primary hypothalamus malfunction and the other issues are simply
symptoms of this. It is not all that uncommon.
