2. Certainly some are born with special gifts and greater potential. However it is also true that most use only a fraction of their potential. Each of us has enormous capacity for growth if we are up to the challenge. In my experience working with performers and other highly successful, accomplished people, I find they are distinguished less by their innate ability and much more by what they made of themselves. No doubt environmental factors influence our outlook, but success is driven primarily by a commitment of time and energy and another quality, a quality difficult to define. Some people seem to have a special quality that makes them stand out. They have a certain something, an it. You know it when you see it in people. Others gravitate to them, want to follow them. They seem more confident. One word for this quality might be charisma, but I do not think that quite captures the energy associated with the quality. The Discipline of Mastery
3. For the past two decades, I have been working with many people who have this quality or seek to develop it. I call this quality, this energy that separates the good from the exceptional, Personal Force. My Personal Force method is a discipline that when practiced develops that capacity for success; develops the quality of Personal Force in you. It develops your capacity to concentrate your energy more effectively to accomplish your goals, to influence and perform at an elite level. Personal Force
4. Does this sound too esoteric? It shouldn't. Lets break it down into simple ABCs. The A stands for attitude. Attitude is always a choice we have. It is never dictated to us. The attitude we choose drives B behaviors, positive or negative which leads to C consequences. Those consequences, or results then reinforce our attitude one way or the other. So within this simple ABC framework, lets consider Personal Force. The ABC’s of Success
5. Personal Force is comprised of three component forces which are associated with independent brain functions described anatomically as the Triune Brain. These functions determine the instinctive brain, the intellectual brain and the emotional brain. The correspondent component forces, the building blocks of Personal Force are will, awareness and conviction. You might also think of these forces as guts, brains and heart. My Personal Force method strives to strengthen these component forces in you. It helps build in you the discipline to make the right choices and once made, execute the behaviors that lead to positive consequences. Will, Awareness, Conviction
6. Now lets consider the three Personal Force components in the metaphor of a carriage. View the body of the carriage as the instinctive brain or will; the horse as the emotional brain or conviction; and the driver of the carriage as the intellectual brain or awareness. For the carriage to be able to move its cargo, all components are interdependent. All must function together to move the cargo along the road. The Personal Force discipline is only practiced when the carriage has somewhere important to go. But if the carriage lacks a clear path or somewhere important to go, movement is unlikely. Each of us has a calling, what I describe as our Path to Mastery. When you find this path, you have a reason and direction for the carriage to move. You have a mission for which to engage the discipline to develop your Personal Force. For this reason, I call Personal Force the discipline of mastery. Path to Mastery
