Fugitive dust emission and management is a key consideration in industrial operations.
Industries seek to maximise output from their production line and enhancing productivity and capital
efficiency. There is an ever increasing need for management to ensure the operation remains sustainable.
This two day intensive training course will update your knowledge and understanding of all aspects of
fugitive dust control from legislative requirements through concept and detail design to the operation and
maintenance of dust control systems.
Take away best practice principles and procedures that will improve your current operations and future
plant expansions. The course is designed to be interactive, practical, and permit discussion and analysis of
problems encountered on participants’ specific operations.
With ever increasing pressure to ensure environmental and occupational health compliance, it is
increasingly important to ensure that personnel (ranging from managers and supervisory staff through to
maintenance
and operational personnel), have a sound understanding of applicable legislation and technologies available.
This will ensure high levels of compliance.

GERALD FRANCIS KUHN:
Gerald is an Associate of the Mine Ventilation Society – 1981, Fellow of the Mine Ventilation Society –
since 1988 and he was a
Councillor of the Mine Ventilation Society at the same time, with more than 35years of experience as
ventilation and Dust Control designer and Environmental Engineer.
He is the current Duersctor of Gerry Kuhn Environmental & Hygiene Engineering CC a company he started
in 1997 with headquarters in Piketberg. The company quickly grew a local client base of nearly every
major and many smaller mining operations within the Namaqualand, Bushmanland, and West coast while
consulting to major suppliers in the dust control and ventilation industries.
In 1969 joined Mobil Oil Company in the same field to pursue further experience in he hydraulics field.
Promoted to Engineering Assistant – design & projects.
In 1971 joined the mining industry at Anglo Alpha Cement – Ulco works in the Northern Cape where
studies for the certificate of competency were commenced and experience in the field of ventilation and
hydraulics was pursued. (Institution – Chamber of Mines of South Africa & Society of Engineers – UK &
London University)
in 1973 he Joined De Beers consolidated Mines in Kimberley to further pursue the field of ventilation and
dust control as well as hydraulics. Positions held – design draughtsman – ventilation, senior design
draughtsman, senior environmental officer – design services and finally senior environmental engineer
