EXPERIENCE
Now based in New England, Dr. Stanko began her career in
Pennsylvania, teaching English Language Arts at a small private high
school where she immersed herself in differentiating content and
instruction to serve the needs of the culturally and linguistically diverse
student population. Her interest in curriculum design grew over
the course of her tenure as a secondary English teacher at a public
high school in Pennsylvania, as she became involved in district-level
curriculum initiatives and developed new interdisciplinary instructional
units and full-course curricula to address gaps in content and skills
for her students. In 2007, Dr. Stanko relocated to New York City
to pursue her doctorate in curriculum and teaching, during which
time she consulted in curriculum development and taught ninth
grade at a charter high school in Brooklyn. Just prior to joining PCG,
Dr. Stanko worked for Boston Public Schools in the Department of
English Language Arts and Literacy as a district instructional coach. Dr.
Stanko has also designed and taught courses at the post-secondary
and graduate levels in the areas of Composition and Rhetoric and
Curriculum Theory and Design.
