Does your company have a task specific
Glove Policy?
At the outset, please note the use of gloves will not prevent all hand
injuries; the primary focus should always be to eliminate hand exposure to
pinch points, crush points, impact zones, etc. Please check with Project

Most glove guidelines are being re-written. One thing is clear from the
new guidelines followed by global oil and gas companies - Improved-
technology impact resistant gloves must be used for daily routine tasks.
Jobs must be evaluated to determine what specific hand protection is
required. Appropriate impact gloves for the specific job task should be
worn until that task is completed.

All work that mandates an impact glove but where
dexterity tasks is to be performed. Gloves that provide
high levels of palm and back of hand protection often
have a lot of TPR and padding that could compromise
with dexterity for increased protection against abrasion.
A new range of knit gloves are now available that provide
the impact protection with dexterity to do light tasks and
precision work.

Mechanix M-PACT 2
M-Pact® 2 knows no bounds when it comes to protecting your hands from impact,
abrasion and hand fatigue. Anatomically designed for an unbelievable fit, the M-
Pact® 2 features an accordion knuckle with EVA foam padding and Thermal Plastic
Rubber (TPR) finger guards to protect against blunt force impact. Your palm is fully
protected with anatomical palm padding and a 4mm XRD® impact pad, which

Mechanix ORHD
Oil and gas drilling operations expose rig hands to numerous on-site hazards
ranging from blunt force impact and pinching injuries to severe abrasions and
lacerations. The ORHD® is designed to combat impact injuries and enhance gripping
power during drilling operations. Dual density Thermal Plastic Rubber (TPR)
safeguards the knuckles and metacarpals from forceful impact, while dual density
TPR with dedicated flex points provide critical pinch-point protection to the tip of
each finger. 2mm EVA foam lies beneath the hard density TPR knuckle guard to help
disperse blows to the top of the hand, while the extended slip-on cuff protects the
wrist. The palm is reinforced with durable synthetic leather and PVC bonded dots
for durable gripping power in slippery conditions.
High-risk red pull-tab allows the glove to be secured to person.

PSC Introduced the Ergonomix 9007 glove from
Granberg in 2015 as there was a need for an
impact glove that would allow dexterity tasks to be
performed with ease while allowing for back of
hand impact protection.

PSC TenActiv Dexterity Cut 5 Glove
PSC introduced the Dexterity TenActiv Cut 5 glove
from Superior Canada in 2015 as there was a need
for an impact glove that would enable compliance
at a lower cost. Widely used by contractors where
impact protection gloves are mandated in work
zones.
A variety of composite-knit yarns are blended together to create this glove,
including high-strength composite filament fiber for unbeatable cut resistance and
dexterity. All TenActiv™ gloves feature lint-free, continuous filament yarn that is
stronger than steel on an equal-weight basis. This style features a black nitrile palm
coat that is foamed to increase your grip in oil by displacing oils on surfaces, while
the thermoplastic rubber (TPR) backing reduces back-of-hand injuries and increases
impact protection, all without impeding flexibility or dexterity. Nitrile withstands
oils and solvents, making this style ideal for workers handling sharp, oily glass or
metal.

PSC introduced the Black Widow glove from
Superior Canada in 2015 for applications that
required mechanical tasks to be performed in the
presence of oils and greases. Great product for
workshop use. Provides mandatory impact

flame resistance (Arc Flash – Hazard Category 2) and impact resistance. The
addition of anti-impact thermo-plastic foam rubber (TPR) patches at the back of the

Important Points to consider with Impact
Protection Gloves
• Always buy the right size glove. This is important for safety and grip. Use
the sizing chart to find out the right sizes for your crew.
• Most gloves are launderable. Ensure you use cool or lukewarm water
only. Also use no heat for drying. Proper care can increase glove lifespan
by 300%. Ask for care and maintenance instructions from your supplier.
• Always insist on buying Impact Protection Glove from authorised
sources only. Buying copies, spurious, fake products coming in from
China can compromise with the safety of your personnel.
• Do not use pricing alone as the yardstick to chose the glove to buy.
