INTRODUCTION TO SERVICE SECTOR IN INDIA • The service sector now accounts for more than half the GDP marks a watershed in the evolution of the Indian economy. Takes it closer to the fundamentals of a developed economy. • The economy that provides services to its consumers. This includes a wide range of businesses including financial institutions, schools, transports and restaurants.

INDIAN HEALTHCARE SECTOR • The healthcare industry includes Medical care providers Physicians Specialist clinics Nursing homes Hospitals Medical diagnostic centres Pathology laboratories • Healthcare is one of India's largest service-sector industries. • By 2012, India's healthcare sector is projected to grow to nearly $40 billion.

ERP Fully Integrated • Integrates all the systems within the hospital allowing the physician to have instant access to his patients' medical data from other physician's offices, emergency rooms and hospitals. • An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system replaces the need for different interfaces between two or more applications within hospital. It provides an integrated database to store various parts of a hospital and increases standardization and reporting capacities. • ERP Hospital is a solution that helps hospital to manage all kind of operations and a available resources in there facilities.
  7. 7. EMR (Electronic Medical Record) • The heart of the EMR module is the provider desktop manager. The Nurse desktop module performs the function. It helps physicians in handling all their day- to-day activities like viewing the list of appointments, on line ordering of investigation, procedures, drugs and consumables along with capturing of diagnosis of patients.

The features of the EMR are as listed below • Provider Desktop Manager • The provider desktop manager allows the provider to perform a number of administrative function and task such as Ordering and order status Medical images Immunization chart Clinical care file • A standard set of chief complaints and history of present illness are recorded through five levels of pre-set templates, provision for direct typing, clinical referrals.

Laboratory Module • The laboratory module is tightly integrated with other modules of ERP and can receive requests for lab tests from other modules like Provider Desktop manager, Nursing station and Operation Room (OR). • It covers processes like order collection, patient check-in, sample collection, test processing, report preparation and report dispatch.

Advantages • Clearer overview of it functioning and quicker performance. • Enable hospital to have greater control over daily planning, surgical and nursing care etc. • Help hospitals strengthen management capacity, improve coordination and collaboration between organizations, medical supplies, etc.
  13. 13. Disadvantage • The purchasing cost of the software which is very high to small-medium Hospital. Apart from it, the employees must be continually trained on how to use it. • Security issue. It is important for hospital to make sure the integrity of the patients' data is protected. • ERP software is business tool, it can changed the whole hospital's business system.
