A Year Under Construction
Glover Elementary will educate and
            challenge
          all students
  to become lifelong learners in
         a global society.
I have been teaching for
I have been teaching for 12 years. I have taught 2nd grade, Pre-
Kindergarten and 1st grade. In my family I have an 8 year old little
girl in the 3rd grade named J’Maalyah. I also have a fiancé who just
finished the police academy. Last, but not least, I have a little
Shih Tzu named Nala.
I teach Reading Recovery in the morning. In the afternoon I teach
Math, Science and Health.
Be prompt
Make sure your child arrives to school on
time so they can be ready to learn when class begins
School Day
Our school day is from 8:10 am - 3:10 pm.
Students will receive a tardy slip at 8:20 am
Leaving Early
It is understood that emergency situations occur, but please try to
limit picking up students early so that a full day of instruction is
    provided
Absences
If your child is absent from school, please send a note to school
when your child returns. Include the reason for the absence and the
days your child was absent. If a note is not received, it will be
counted as an unexcused absence on their report card.
Dismissal
Our school day ends at 3:10 pm.
Car riders, daycare, walkers and bus students have designated
   areas to dismiss
Please be patient if you pick your students up from school by
   waiting
Our goal is to get students dismissed quickly but most
   importantly safely
Uniforms are not mandatory but “strongly” encouraged!

Polo style shirts can be worn any day for the week
in the colors of: white, gold, green and red

      Green means excellent day!
Colors will be changed if the CHAMPS classroom and school
     expectations are not followed

First grade team has a discipline plan to give students opportunities to
correct behavior to prevent sending the child to the principal’s office

notified and the child will be sent to the principal’s office

EVERYTHING students and parents need to keep up to date with what
is going on at school in one folder

Reading Recovery serves children most at risk of reading and
writing failure. Reading Recovery helps students to develop
effective strategies for reading and writing through individualized
thirty-minute daily sessions with a specially trained teacher.
Children make accelerated progress in twelve to twenty weeks.
The goal is for them to reach the average level in their classrooms.
For students to exit the program successfully after 20 weeks, it
is crucial for parents to read the books sent home with their
children daily!
First grade will take two field trips this year.
One field trip will be in the fall and the second
field trip will be in the spring.
When the date and destination of our field trip
has been established, a permission slip and note
will be sent home.
Parents are always welcome to help in our classroom
and for the first grade team!
Here are a just a few ways that you can help:
    Chaperone for field trips
    Donate items to the classroom
    Help make games for workstations
Volunteer in the parent center to help laminate,
   cut out materials, etc.
Help set up for programs and awards
   day
                                           Volunteer in
                                               our

Reading Recovery helps students to develop effective strategies for reading and writing through individualized thirty-minute daily sessions with a specially trained teacher. Children make accelerated progress in twelve to twenty weeks. The goal is for them to reach the average level in their classrooms. For students to exit the program successfully after 20 weeks, it is crucial for parents to read the books sent home with their children daily!
