Grading System
Under the Philippine education system, schools have the inherent power to impose the standards of scholastic achievement for the student and to eliminate any one who fails to meet the desired norm.
Standards of scholastic achievement, as set by school rules, policies and regulations, make it a duty upon every student to exert his utmost in his education in every way possible.
There are four periodical ratings in one school year.
The averaging system is used in computing final grades.
92% is the highest grade given and the lowest is 70% after its equivalent is taken from the transmutation table. This is used in the English department only.
Pre-elementary and Elementary level of performance is 65% while High School is 70% which is equivalent to a grade of 75.
The report card grade is made up of the daily work grade (quizzes, recitation, homework, project) which count as 60% and Periodical examinations which count as 40%.
To arrive at the grade for a subject, the score equivalent as reflected in the transmutation table is taken. Its corresponding standard weight 60% class standing (40% quizzes, 10% seatwork, 5% homework/project, 5% recitation) and 40% periodical test are computed. Weights for every item are added to produce the grade for the subject.
10% deduction from the score of the Periodical Examination taken after the regular schedule.
C. Promotion Guidelines
1. Pre-elementary – Final average of 78% is required provided there are no
failing marks in 2 subjects.
2. Grade 1-2 – Final average of 78% is required provided there are no failing
marks in 2 subjects.
3. Grade 3-6 – Passing mark is 80% with no 4 subjects below 78% and no red
marks in 2 subjects.
4. High School – passing ark is 80% with no 3 subjects below 78% and no red
marks in any subject.
For all levels – Students failing twice in either English or Chinese may not be admitted for the next year.
D. Honors
,[object Object],1. Grade must be based on actual grade, not rounded off grades.
2. 88% is the cut off grade for the consideration of honors.
3. First, Second and Third honors are chosen from 88% and above.
Honors and class ranking will be taken from two or more sections combined and done every quarter and yearend.
,[object Object],1. For Kindergarten 2 honors
Average of K-1 and K-2 grades in KCLC
2. For Grade 6 honors
Average of Grade 5 and Grade 6 final grades in KCLC
3. For fourth Year High School
Average of Third and Fourth Year final grades in KCLC
4. For Fourth Year High School
Average of First to Fourth Year final grades in KCLC
E. Bible Grade and Good Manners and Right Conduct (GRC)
Since Behavior or character is the result of application of Bible principles or Values Education, character grades will be integrated in the Bible grade. The class adviser and the other subject teachers handling the class shall give the rating for behavior based on observation. Conduct counts 40% plus Bible grade counts 60% to come up with the Bible grade which is considered a major subject in computation. However, letter ratings will continue to be given as a separate conduct grade in the report card.
F. Rules on Report Cards
The report card which is an appraisal of the progress of the child in school is issued every quarter or after the periodical examination.
1. Parents or guardians is requested to sign and make sure it is returned the
following day to the adviser.
2. Forging or unwarranted alterations in the grades or other entries are serious
offenses and are subject to disciplinary action.
3. Lost report card, mutilated or destroyed may be replaced after a valid written
explanation and acknowledgement submitted by parents. A new card will be
issued upon payment of a fee.
G. Attendance
Regularity of attendance and punctuality are required in all classes and should be treated as a matter of discipline that will affect the Bible and conduct grade.
STRICT-OBSERANCE of school hour is necessary, following the school office clock as the standard time.
G.1. Tardiness
1. A student is considered late when he is not in the line when flag
ceremony begins.
2. Habitual tardiness even in the first period in the afternoon shall not be
allowed.
3. One is considered tardy if one goes out of the classroom between periods
and is late for the next period without permission from the teacher in the
succeeding period.
4. An admission slip is issued by the office before tardy students is admitted
to the class.
5. Three tardiness is considered one day unexcused absence. One day
unexcused absence will reduce the conduct grade by 0.5 point affecting
the Bible grade in general.
G.2. Excused Absences
Excused absences will be granted to the student for reasons of illness
or other unavoidable situations like death and funeral of an immediate
family member or representing the school for outside activities.
1. Submit an excuse slip duly signed by parents or guardian and a medical
certificate upon returning to secure an admission slip from the office.
2. Failure to secure an excuse slip 2 days after returning will cause the
absence o be considered unexcused whereby he, then, cannot take make-up
quizzes.
3. Cutting classes inside or outside the school is considered an excused
absence with corresponding penalty.
4. Taking the makeup quizzes both in English and Chinese should be taken
within 3 days after returning upon the approval of the office.
5. A student is held responsible for any lessons and assignment given during
his office.
6. Unexcused absences incurred for family outing, reunions, homecoming,
going abroad and the like will not entitle anyone to do make up quizzes.
7. Between 8:00 a.m – 4:20 p.m any student leaving the campus for valid
reasons needs a letter or a call from parents before a gate pass is issued.
8. Students are advised not to schedule regular medical/dental check up
during school hours or days.
9. Any student who for any reason has to go out his classes must present a
call slip from the office.
10. A student will be considered dropped when he incurs absences arising from
any reason corresponding to 20% of the number of days required for the
school year. However, for justification reasons decision depends on the
discretion of the administration.
H. Homework
One of the purposes of homework is to develop good study habits. This can be enhanced if the student is made responsible for completing homework activities on his own. Parents may assist and guide only if needed. It is also used to follow-up what has been learned from school during that day.
Project assigned at home actually is a partnership with the parents. The students should do most of the work, but with the assistance and help of the parents if necessary. This can promote and reinforce better child-parental bonding.
Project will be assigned before or on Friday to give students time to secure all needed materials and be given enough time to work.
Assignment will be given, Monday to Thursday, as much as possible to give free a weekend to enjoy and rest with the family. Assignment notebooks have to be inspected for assignments and must be duly signed after they are done.
Test notebook and report card have to be signed too.
Parents may ask for homework assignment when the student is absent.
Detailed quizzes schedule as guide will be issued in the early part of the school year.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS
A.
