Self Exploration
Many of us go through life skimming the surface of our identities. That is, we don't truly dig deeply
into our thoughts, feelings, desires and dreams.
Part of the problem is that we're always on the go. When to–do lists keep swelling, self–exploration
takes a backseat. How can it not, when we barely find time for self–care?
Specifically, self–exploration involves "taking a look at your own thoughts, feelings, behaviors and
motivations and asking why. It's looking for the roots of who we are – answers to all the questions
we have about [ourselves]," according to Ryan Howes, Ph.D, psychologist, writer and professor in
Pasadena, California.
Having a deeper understanding of ourselves has many benefits. It "helps people understand and

Take some time and think about what you might need in order to be happy and ultimately successful
in your job/career. For example, a few things to consider might be salary, geographic location, job
autonomy, work hours, and professional growth opportunities, to name a few. Which ones of these,
and/or others, are most significant; things that would make an obvious difference in whether we
would enjoy our job/career? If you don't take the time to consider who you are and what you want,
you won't know what you are looking for. You need to be aware that no job/career is going to be
perfect and meet all of your expectations. But if you at least think about which things are more
vital to your happiness and aim for those, you can come pretty close to what you want. Think
about the skills and abilities you may have that you would like to utilize in your chosen profession
(i.e. leadership, helping others, mathematical ability, creativity, communication, etc.) Which careers
give you more of an opportunity to express yourself and be yourself? Many people make the
mistake of assuming that they can and will do just about anything for the right amount of money.
Well let me assure you that this is only partially true. In the beginning, the money may seem like
enough to sustain your job satisfaction and happiness, but soon everyone realizes that money alone
is only a temporary fix. If you don't really like what you are doing, or like where you work, you
won't be

My name is Lydia. My parents gave me this name and hoped that I could be friendly and always in

because my parents do export business and it requires them to use English frequently. I am very
close to my parents and my older sisters. I share my concern with them and do girl talks very often
just like best friends do. Family to me is a safe harbor and place where I grow and learn. I grew up

proficiency I could qualify to be part of a study abroad program. Even though I only had little
amount of time to prepare but I studied very hard to pass the required score in TOEFL and got the

studying abroad in Pittsburg State University. August 2011, the most special and most meaningful

United States. Besides broadening my horizon, I also tried to show and explain to my new friends
how beautiful and wonderful our culture is. I believe I have become a person who is more
independent and mature. I can now face my own flaws and make amends of my mistakes. Besides
facing my own flaws, I am willing to face all kinds of challenges in my life. I hope I could become

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests
and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some
factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture
may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and
sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a
person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set
individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content...
Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart
pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I
love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be
on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics
that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly
consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering
(especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is
measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very
strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that,
although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will
not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a
person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Essay on Writing Self-Evaluation
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to
evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can
continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself "what have
I learned this semester?" and "what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?".
Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self–evaluation, developing a
plan to learn new skills.
During this semester, I have strengthened my writing by trying new writing techniques, learning
about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block. My first essay in this class was
less focused then the essays I wrote later in...show more content...
I have struggled with writer's block with often. In the past, I've learned to take breaks while
writing to help alleviate symptoms of writers block; however, during the semester I have learned
to carry a pad of paper with me so that I can write down idea's while they are fresh in my mind.
Writing down my thoughts has helped me avoid writers block because I have a list of thoughts
about the subject before I have even started writing. When I struggle less to write it improves my
essay's by decreasing my stress, this can be seen in my writing. I was afflicted with writer's block
while trying to write both my compare and contrast essay and my description essay, this caused
me a lot of stress and caused my essay to suffer. On the other hand, when I wrote my classify and
divide essay I did not have to deal with writer's block. As a result the stress level was greatly
decreased and the improvement is substantial.
Although my writing has made some good progress during the course of this semester, I still some
things I need to learn in order to keep improving my writing. Grammar, writing in an active voice,
and building my rewrite skills are three examples of skills I need to build upon to continue to
improve me writing.
Even though my grammar has improved during the progression of this class, I still have a lot to
learn before my knowledge of grammar can contribute to my writing. I have never had an aptitude for

Self Introduction
Self–Introduction Essay What is the objective of a self–introduction essay? The objective of a
self–introduction essay is to provide a short, concise introduction to others. A self–introduction essay
can be useful for different reasons such as employment, graduate school, or professional activities.
We will focus on the use of a self–introduction essay solely for the use of employment opportunities.
Employers may request a self introduction essay to provide a 'summary' of each candidate. This
'summary' is a short, concise introduction of the candidate for someone that knows nothing about the
individual. The self–introduction essay can lead to the interview requesting an interview to further

Self-Reflective Essay
During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of
knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have
written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos
were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon
throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those
three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using
rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. I believe that I

course goal in revising my writing and using feedback to help facilitate this. In this paper alone, I
feel that I have made some progress in the course (mainly using logos, ethos, and pathos as a
rhetorical strategy in this paper). My second pieces of writings (two proposals) reflected my
progress in the ability to to use feedback and revise my writings which was a course goal. In this
case, many rhetorical strategies were employed. Revisions weren't as simple as changing grammar
and using correct punctuation (although that was something that helped me grow as a writer). A
change of style was implemented from my "Cornell–styled Box Project Proposal #1" to my revision.
I also used feedback I received to rewrite many parts of my rewrite. Effectively using feedback has
helped me move towards the course goals since revisions were never my strong point. This usually
was because I never needed to do many revisions in high school and especially since high school was
much easier than now. Also, I progressed enough to understand how to use the pathos in one text and
turn it into something entirely different yet arguing the same things. "The strongest feeling I
received from the text Inception is the cliched saying of

writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about
and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned
while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal,
narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I
encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was
finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything
else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and
myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most
of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was
understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.
For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Self Care Essay example
Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest,
but it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that
we forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my
focus is always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along
the way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I
know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me.

In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me.
At times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage
to tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will
help me have more time to do the things I love.
Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What
better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate
future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting
out with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation
that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a
task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day.
Its not so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate,
it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and
take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending
Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in
helping myself first.

There is a lot of things that I have learned about myself in the past few weeks of this course. I have

I have learned that I am a creative and compassionate. I am a creative person because I enjoy

I seldom ask for help, and I don't go out of my way to talk to people. From what I have learned in
this course, I think that to some people this might make me look like a jerk. Or that I think I'm

don't like other people, I just really enjoy spending time with myself. I know a lot of people, but I
only have two or three that I consider my friends. I value the quality of my relationships more than
the quantity. I would rather go out and do something with one or two friends, rather than a large
group. I enjoy having the close relationships with my few friends, I have no desire to fill my life
with a ton of superficial friendships that come and go.
I take a lot of pride in the work that I do. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, it could be playing video
games, riding my bike, or at work. When I succeed at something I give myself a lot of credit. To
some people this may seem like I'm conceded, or that I like to show off. The reality of it is that
rewarding myself for doing something good motivates me to continue to do good things. It's a
way for me to motivate myself. The way I credit myself is not in the fashion of gloating, or
showing off my success, but the opposite. I play off my successes like they're no big deal. To
some people I may seem conceded when I accomplish something. For example, when I was in the
Army, I was selected for airborne school. Airborne school

Introduction
No two people are the same. Race, ethnicity, gender, and age are all factors that make individuals
different and unique. Throughout this paper, I will be discussing my values, beliefs and traditions,
how I identify myself, and my attitude on diversity.
Family Values, Beliefs, and Traditions My family is very diverse and comes from many different
places. My maternal grandmother came to the United States from England when she was 18 and met
my biological grandfather. They lived in Montana on Flathead Indian Reservation. This is where my
mother was born and raised. When my mother was in high school, she met my...show more content...
I know it is becoming mutual where the mother works just like the father, but I think; as I get
older I will practice the same views and beliefs my parents did. This does not mean that I am
against the views of feminism; I just believe it is important for children to be raised by family
instead of daycare centers. My mother never trusted people to babysit her kids when we were little
and her views have rubbed off on me. I define myself as being independent, self–relying, and strong.
I have gone through many hard things in my life and I think it has made me to be a strong
person. What makes me unique is my independence. Ever since I was in high school, I have taken
care of myself and always felt the need to do everything on my own. Because of this, I have always
come off a little rough around the edges. I had trouble making friends because I did not trust many
people and always thought people had alternative motives. Eventually I have learned to give people
the benefit of the doubt and to trust others.
I consider myself to me a female, daughter, college student, Catholic, friend, sister, and a future
nurse. From the list of identities above, I think being a student and a friend to be the most
important in my life at this time. Every day I go to school and work hard to achieve my goal of
being a nurse. Along with going to class, I spend a lot of time with my friends. Being a nursing
student is very important to me at this time and I am proud to be at UND.

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

I have discovered some interesting things I have noticed in myself before taking this course. For
example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style.
With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or
not clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always
trust myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes
help me remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after
writing them down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at
least I know what they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like
to keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted
it as my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this
far, it must work out for me.
I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by

Development of Self Essay
Development of Self
The development of self starts at a very young age. When a preschooler is asked how are they
different from other children, they usually look at their self concept. Self concept is their identity, of
their set of beliefs about what they are like as individuals. Most preschoolers give inaccurate
statements about their self concept. They usually overestimate their skills and knowledge.
Preschool–age children also begin to develop a view of self that reflects their particular culture
considers the self. An example of this would be to look at the different views as self between the
Western culture and the Asian culture. Western cultures believe that an individual should seek

Children's views of self become more differentiated. As they get older, children discover that they
may be good at some things and not so good at others. Children's self– concepts become divided into
personal and academic spheres. During middle childhood children begin social comparison. Social
comparison is the desire to evaluate one's own behavior, abilities, expertise, and opinions by
comparing them to those of others. During middle childhood children deal with the crisis industry
versus inferiority stage. The stage is characterized by a focus on efforts to attain competence in
meeting the challenges presented by parents, peers, school, and other complexities of the modern
world. This is a time of their life where the child develops a self esteem. Self–esteem in an
individual's overall and specific positive and negative self–evaluation. Self concept reflects beliefs
and cognitions about the self, self–esteem is more emotionally oriented. The self–esteem of most
children tends to increase during middle childhood with a brief decline around age of 12. Some
evidence shows that members of minority groups have lower self–esteem then those of the majority
group. Children build a sense of self efficacy during their elementary years. Self efficacy refers to
learned expectations that one is capable of carrying out a behavior or producing a desired outcome
in a particular situation.

analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be able to write more broadly. By knowing how
to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes
because I will have the knowledge that I need to write these types of papers. I still procrastinate
sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve on this as time goes along
because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which usually would be better
grades.
Overall I think that my most of my writing habits have improved and for the ones that have not I
know what they are and what I need to do to improve them. My strengths that I already had as

How To Write A Self Introduction Essay

  • 1. Self Exploration Many of us go through life skimming the surface of our identities. That is, we don't truly dig deeply into our thoughts, feelings, desires and dreams. Part of the problem is that we're always on the go. When to–do lists keep swelling, self–exploration takes a backseat. How can it not, when we barely find time for self–care? Specifically, self–exploration involves "taking a look at your own thoughts, feelings, behaviors and motivations and asking why. It's looking for the roots of who we are – answers to all the questions we have about [ourselves]," according to Ryan Howes, Ph.D, psychologist, writer and professor in Pasadena, California. Having a deeper understanding of ourselves has many benefits. It "helps people understand and accept...show more content... Take some time and think about what you might need in order to be happy and ultimately successful in your job/career. For example, a few things to consider might be salary, geographic location, job autonomy, work hours, and professional growth opportunities, to name a few. Which ones of these, and/or others, are most significant; things that would make an obvious difference in whether we would enjoy our job/career? If you don't take the time to consider who you are and what you want, you won't know what you are looking for. You need to be aware that no job/career is going to be perfect and meet all of your expectations. But if you at least think about which things are more vital to your happiness and aim for those, you can come pretty close to what you want. Think about the skills and abilities you may have that you would like to utilize in your chosen profession (i.e. leadership, helping others, mathematical ability, creativity, communication, etc.) Which careers give you more of an opportunity to express yourself and be yourself? Many people make the mistake of assuming that they can and will do just about anything for the right amount of money. Well let me assure you that this is only partially true. In the beginning, the money may seem like enough to sustain your job satisfaction and happiness, but soon everyone realizes that money alone is only a temporary fix. If you don't really like what you are doing, or like where you work, you won't be Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Self Introduction Essay Ajou University Self–Introduction Essay Full Name in English: Li–Ying Huang Gender: Female Nationality: Taiwan Home University: National Chung Hsing University My name is Lydia. My parents gave me this name and hoped that I could be friendly and always in good manners. I was born in a sweet and great family. English is like my mother language, mainly because my parents do export business and it requires them to use English frequently. I am very close to my parents and my older sisters. Even though I only had little amount of time to prepare but I studied very hard to pass the required score in TOEFL and got the full amount scholarship, most important thing–became one of the exchange students who went studying abroad in Pittsburg State University. August 2011, the most special and most meaningful year of my life started off. I got to know students from different countries during the year in the United States. Besides broadening my horizon, I also tried to show and explain to my new friends how beautiful and wonderful our culture is. I believe I have become a person who is more independent and mature. • 3. My Personal Identity Essay A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content... Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Writing Self-Evaluation I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself "what have I learned this semester?" and "what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?". Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self–evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills. During this semester, I have strengthened my writing by trying new writing techniques, learning about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block. My first essay in this class was less focused then the essays I wrote later in...show more content... I have struggled with writer's block with often. In the past, I've learned to take breaks while writing to help alleviate symptoms of writers block; however, during the semester I have learned to carry a pad of paper with me so that I can write down idea's while they are fresh in my mind. Writing down my thoughts has helped me avoid writers block because I have a list of thoughts about the subject before I have even started writing. When I struggle less to write it improves my essay's by decreasing my stress, this can be seen in my writing. I was afflicted with writer's block while trying to write both my compare and contrast essay and my description essay, this caused me a lot of stress and caused my essay to suffer. On the other hand, when I wrote my classify and divide essay I did not have to deal with writer's block. As a result the stress level was greatly decreased and the improvement is substantial. Although my writing has made some good progress during the course of this semester, I still some things I need to learn in order to keep improving my writing. Grammar, writing in an active voice, and building my rewrite skills are three examples of skills I need to build upon to continue to improve me writing. Even though my grammar has improved during the progression of this class, I still have a lot to learn before my knowledge of grammar can contribute to my writing. A self–introduction essay can be useful for different reasons such as employment, graduate school, or professional activities. We will focus on the use of a self–introduction essay solely for the use of employment opportunities. Employers may request a self introduction essay to provide a 'summary' of each candidate. This 'summary' is a short, concise introduction of the candidate for someone that knows nothing about the individual. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. In this paper alone, I feel that I have made some progress in the course (mainly using logos, ethos, and pathos as a rhetorical strategy in this paper). My second pieces of writings (two proposals) reflected my progress in the ability to to use feedback and revise my writings which was a course goal. In this case, many rhetorical strategies were employed. Revisions weren't as simple as changing grammar and using correct punctuation (although that was something that helped me grow as a writer). A change of style was implemented from my "Cornell–styled Box Project Proposal #1" to my revision. I also used feedback I received to rewrite many parts of my rewrite. Effectively using feedback has helped me move towards the course goals since revisions were never my strong point. This usually was because I never needed to do many revisions in high school and especially since high school was much easier than now. Also, I progressed enough to understand how to use the pathos in one text and turn it into something entirely different yet arguing the same things. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. • 8. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. • 9. Self Care Essay example Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest, but it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that we forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my focus is always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along the way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me. Stress management and self–soothing techniques are critical for surviving modern work–no matter the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their...show more content... In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me. At times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage to tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will help me have more time to do the things I love. Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting out with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day. Its not so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate, it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in helping myself first. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I seldom ask for help, and I don't go out of my way to talk to people. From what I have learned in this course, I think that to some people this might make me look like a jerk. Or that I think I'm better than them. When In reality I'm just a little bit of a socially awkward person. It's not that I don't like other people, I just really enjoy spending time with myself. I know a lot of people, but I only have two or three that I consider my friends. I value the quality of my relationships more than the quantity. I would rather go out and do something with one or two friends, rather than a large group. I enjoy having the close relationships with my few friends, I have no desire to fill my life with a ton of superficial friendships that come and go. I take a lot of pride in the work that I do. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, it could be playing video games, riding my bike, or at work. When I succeed at something I give myself a lot of credit. To some people this may seem like I'm conceded, or that I like to show off. The reality of it is that rewarding myself for doing something good motivates me to continue to do good things. It's a way for me to motivate myself. The way I credit myself is not in the fashion of gloating, or showing off my success, but the opposite. I play off my successes like they're no big deal. To some people I may seem conceded when I accomplish something. For example, when I was in the Army, I was selected for airborne school. Airborne school Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Race, ethnicity, gender, and age are all factors that make individuals different and unique. Throughout this paper, I will be discussing my values, beliefs and traditions, how I identify myself, and my attitude on diversity. Family Values, Beliefs, and Traditions My family is very diverse and comes from many different places. My maternal grandmother came to the United States from England when she was 18 and met my biological grandfather. They lived in Montana on Flathead Indian Reservation. I know it is becoming mutual where the mother works just like the father, but I think; as I get older I will practice the same views and beliefs my parents did. This does not mean that I am against the views of feminism; I just believe it is important for children to be raised by family instead of daycare centers. My mother never trusted people to babysit her kids when we were little and her views have rubbed off on me. I define myself as being independent, self–relying, and strong. I have gone through many hard things in my life and I think it has made me to be a strong person. What makes me unique is my independence. Ever since I was in high school, I have taken care of myself and always felt the need to do everything on my own. Because of this, I have always come off a little rough around the edges. I had trouble making friends because I did not trust many people and always thought people had alternative motives. Eventually I have learned to give people the benefit of the doubt and to trust others. I consider myself to me a female, daughter, college student, Catholic, friend, sister, and a future nurse. From the list of identities above, I think being a student and a friend to be the most important in my life at this time. Every day I go to school and work hard to achieve my goal of being a nurse. Along with going to class, I spend a lot of time with my friends. Being a nursing student is very important to me at this time and I am proud to be at UND. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.
