Introduction
Corruption can be defined as a spiritual or moral deviation from an ideal. Corruption come in
different styles and that include bribery and funds embezzlement.
Corruption has been the number one menace in many countries of the world. It impacts countries in
many ways, impacting economy and development in a negative way. Corruption tends to raise the
cost of government and may lower the rate of infrastructure growth. Most importantly, corruption has
a negative impact on capitalism and foreign investment in that; it changes the environment which in
turns affects decisions and actions. Corruption causes...show more content...
Bureaucratic harassment such as the waiting time for a permit and statutory tax and tariff rates are
other forms of corruption.
Countries have different laws, making some actions viewed in our capitalistic society as
inappropriate, to be appropriate in a socialism or communistic society. The Organization for
Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines corruption as "intentionally to offer,
promise or give any undue pecuniary or other advantage....to a foreign public official...in order that
the official act or refrain from acting in relation to the performance of official duties in order to
obtain or retain business or other improper advantage in the conduct of international business"
(Raeschke –Kessler & Gottwald, n.d.). This measure criminalizes bribery in international
transactions, however, influence peddling (a practice in which undue advantage of giving,
promising or selling of an undue advantage to a person who will sell their influence to the
government) is not covered by OECD definition.
An effect the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of 1977 found that "United States direct
investment in more corrupt countries grew more slowly than in other countries" (Wei, 2000). China
is an interesting example. China is a large country with a vast supply of cheap labor. The country
also has a great deal of rampant corruption. There has been a large amount of foreign

Persuasive Essay On Corruption In Society
Humanity would not be improved if all were to strive towards utter perfection. When we try hard
to be perfect, an unattainable goal, we are bound to fail. Therefore, this inevitable "failure" shall
lead to frustration and anger at ourselves though we have done nothing wrong. Should society not
be taunted by this impossible goal, society as a whole will be happier and live fulfilled lives.
Whereas if everyone were to be reaching for perfection, everyone's lives would be the exact opposite.
The core of our society would be filled with more stress–more than what already exists at least– as
well as less contemptment with our actions. These negative emotions would result in the
implementation of bad means as a result of hopelessness. People will be lead to believe that after
failing so many times, the only thing left to do in order to be perfect is to not play by the rules,
because when they did, it didn't work. According to mid–twentieth century sociologist Robert
Merton, "The moral mandate to achieve success thus exerts pressures to succeed, by fair means if
possible and by foul means if necessary"(Robert Merton in Allenby 17). This leads to not only
corruption of the individual, but corruption in society as a whole. This is due to the intense level of
competition in society that is due to everyone feeling as if they must be the best and outdo those
that surround them. These high levels of competition and little room for success leads to stress,
depression, and people resulting to loopholes to make their way up to the top. Not only that, but
even at a young age, children are being pressured to be the best. Christopher Bergland,
ultra–endurance athlete, writer, and psychologist, additionally addressed cheating in his
Psychology Today column (2012) when he stated, "We live in such a competitive world. From a
very young age our children are taught that if they want to 'succeed' in life that they have to finish
in the top percentile in just about every challenge they face. But not everyone can be a
champion."(Begland 6). Therefore, not only are adults affected by the pressures of competition, but
children are too. If the stress piles up at an early age, then so do the bad habits which will all carry
on into their

Corruption In The Justice System
In the justice system today, there are three corrupt issues: the evidence, the jury, and the attorneys.
There are still more issues to all of it, who is keeping it in check? Why does the United States have
these laws, if none of them are able to be enforced on the lawyers and jury? These are all the little
problems and questions that have led to the wrong outcomes in our check and balance law system. It
comes to the point that the justice system enters a tunnel and doesn't hear any outside facts until the
conviction comes in. It's the rush for evidence that fuels them all.
The evidence issue is a real thing, created by corrupt police, officers weary of criminals going free
and a system bogged down by loopholes and technicalities. Case in...show more content...

Corruption And Its Effects On Society
Corruption is globally regarded to be one of the most immoral and ethically wrong practices in the
political realm. There is a reason as to why corruption has such a strong negative connotation
associated with it, as impacts caused by its direct and indirect effects on society cause massive
consequences. The very nature of corruption undermines almost all processes and goals set fourth
by a liberal democracy, while causing high distrust and low public approval between officials and
citizens.
The study of corruption is nothing new; it has been the center of substantial analysis and research for
decades. Surveying citizens and asking their perception of the level of corruption in their country
mainly carried out early studies on corruption. Later, more direct ways of gathering data emerged
with the use of undercover agents that allowed researchers to interpret more reliable data that
ultimately gave them better results.
Many people living in the developed or modernized world, such as North America or Europe, live
under the rule of liberal democracies and are unaware of the extent of corruption that exists around
the world. Many citizens living in developing countries face levels of corruption much higher than
those found in democratically consolidated and developed states; as the societal environment found
in developing states fosters the proper setting for corruption to take place. Corruption is extremely
prevalent in a majority of nations around the world, making it

Corruption In Canada
In The News Canada Ranked 9th Least Corrupt Country In The World Who or what is the news
about? This article involves all the countries in the world including Canada, in which these
countries are ranked based off Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions. It states how
and why countries are corrupt. It shows the readers how the scale is created, so they take factors
like if the government is held responsible or go unpunished for corruption, or whether institutions
respond to citizen's needs. The index is only based on expert opinions in order to produce accurate
results. When or where did it take place? This article talks about a topic that took place the whole of
2015, but was released on Wednesday January...show more content...
The Transparency International organization gathered this information and ranked it according to
how corrupt each country is. The bottom ten corrupt countries are countries that have either a
poor government, low quality of life and also have poor education, these countries are usually
developing countries also countries that have a lot of wars. The reason why Transparency
International ranks countries is because they want uncorrupted countries aid corrupted ones.
They also do this to help people find good areas to live. They rank countries every year because of
that. The corruption scale is up to 100. They rank countries by how much points they get from
100. Canada scored 83 points and got the spot of 9th place. That means Canada is a good place to
live with a high quality of life, and a country were a lot of immigrants/refugees would want to
settle. Public sector corruptions unlike other countries isn't a major problem in Canada. This year
Transparency International states that 64 countries trended upward (including Canada) and only 53
countries had declined. Who is affected by this news? This article shows the readers the pros and
cons of living in a country that is apart of the scale. People living in uncorrupted countries can be
affected in a positive way because of more immigrants and tourists and vise versa for the corrupted
countries. Immigrants or people looking to move to another country would find this data useful
because it can help make their decision on what countries to live hence this positively affects
whoever looking to move to another country or as a refugee. This can help uncorrupted countries
with their economy because it can help with the tourism industry. Your

Reaction Paper On Corruption
The topic of corruption is attracting much attention for politicians, accountants, economists and
people in large (Maunuken, R., 1988).The term "corruption' covers a great variety of sins (Hager, L.
Michael, 1973). Corrupt means to abuse or destroy www.Dictionary.reference.com. Corruption is the
sale of government property for personal gain by government officials (Ramos, M., 2003).
According to Ramos, M., (2003) corruption is also use of official position, rank or status by an
office bearer for his own personal benefit. Corruption involves behavior which deviates from the
normal duties of a public role; pecuniary or status gain; or violates rules against the exercise of
certain types of private–regarding influence (U Myint, 2000). The behavior of corruption includes
sins such as bribery; extortion; fraud; embezzlement; nepotism; cronyism; appropriation of public
assets and property for personal use (Joseph Nye, 1967). Corruption is becoming more common and
reaching higher levels in today's settings and can be attributed to diminish state and societal capacity,
lawlessness and violence, and short–term horizons generated by political instability (SYNAPSE
UNDP, 2019). People are engaging in corruption as a result of the expectation of a personal gain
(be it monetary or otherwise), when they are granted power by society to perform certain public
duties. Damage the public interest and the biggest loser from corruption is society as a whole
(Friedrich, C.J.,1990). A civil

Political Corruption Essay
Political corruption has existed throughout the ages. It believed to be most prominent in positions of
power, because of the role money plays in getting people power. However, over the centuries,
corruption has changed so much so as to not match a particular definition of corruption, perpetually
growing deceptively harder to find (Ebbe).
The broadest, most suitable definition which exists today simply states that corruption is any illegal
act performed by a politician to produce results which would have been otherwise impossible
(Ebbe). In some cases, government, politicians, and criminals entwine for the sake of amassing
money in order to secure their own jobs. This form of corruption was apparent in the mafia's
association with the...show more content...
This paired with poor law enforcement yields an impossibly hard to get rid of corruption. In Kenya,
political corruption has grown rampant. People, who are supposed to be representing the interests of
their constituency, instead take money from the constituents to keep their representative positions.
Political corruption is parasitic; it finds a host, and can almost always find a way to survive.
Eventually, people grow dependent on this corruption as a means for income, thus forming a
symbiosis between the people who benefit from it, and the elites that regulate it. People sometimes
ignore the corruption surrounding them, feeling that as long as the politicians do their jobs well,
their 'extra salary' can't hurt (BNS).
Generally after revolutions take place, anarchy exists. No new government simply moves into
place. During this time, it is easiest for Corruption to take hold of this Government as it forms,
limiting or halting the true development of a government for the people. In an environment infested
with corruption, any acts of corruption simply become commonplace. Where anarchy exists,
people lack the power of representation. If there is a government in which corruption exists, people
lack a voice with which to take action. A government is necessary for the growth of people and
nations as a whole. If the government is not legitimate, it will only act as a parasite to its host––the
people and the country's economy.

A politician wants to build his new house near the lake, but the lake is circle with the forest. The
regulation of cutting down the trees over at the forest is not allowed. But, the politician uses his
power and his money to bribe the people that are in charge of the environmental officials so then he
can build his house. It's not only house though, and it's not only politicians who do this. An owner of
an industry might bribe the environmental officials as well to cut down the trees and build his
going–to–be–very–polluted industry. (Contributor)
The damage that is caused by corruption is huge, but it actually depends on which country we are
talking about. An example would be England and Indonesia. The corruption in England is less than
in Indonesia (it's not like I'm saying that there's no corruption in England). Thus, the damage that
cost England is less than Indonesia because there's more corrupt people in Indonesia and it's also
because Indonesia is a third world country. More damages are made through corruption in third
world countries than any other countries, it's because they aren't developed yet, more likely they
won't develop because of the corruption. It very well is possible to measure the damages it cost. By
looking at the country's economic, social, environmental and political development and by looking
at the country's people, we could estimate just how many people have to suffer because of the
corruption in the country.

Introduction Corruption is the use of entrusted authority for private gain. Corruption has two sides,
the receiver and the giver. According to Myint (2000), both parties to corruption engage in the
practice to gain from it and, therefore, both should be accounted for the practice. Corruption is vital

No society has corruption generic to each member of the society. Corruption in a society is
classified into three categories; it may be rare, widespread or systemic. In communities where
corruption is rare, there are remarkably few incidences of it, which are usually, extremely difficult
to identify. When it is widespread, it means that it occurs in large numbers, in the society, scandals
abound in the society, and it is possible to identify the corrupt individuals in the society. If it is
systemic, it means that it is inherent, for members of the society to receive certain services have to
bribe the officials. Corruption as a cultural tradition does not suits only a few members of the society
who practice it. When a government is termed as corrupt, this does not mean that all the officials in
the government are corrupt, it is only some unscrupulous officials who are scandalous and painted an
image that the government is corrupt and tainted its image. The same applies to culture as a
determinant of the level of corruption in a society. When a certain community is termed to have a
culture of corruption, such a postulation does not go to the finer details of the society to analyze its
individual constituents. When a proper analysis of the mistaken corrupt culture in a society, it

Corruption of Government Essay
The unlawful use of a person's position while in power leads to multiple problems with today's
government. The corrupt methods politicians use are ideas that are strictly in place for personal
gain. Present throughout history and still prevalent within today's world, government corruption has
consisted of a number of negative issues including bribery, economic and social impacts, and the
misuse of power. Government's role within daily life has been shown to have negative effects as
seen in many aspects of life as well as in literature. Bribery can be defined as when one is offered
money or some other incentive with the intention to corrupt a person's actions.В¬ Bribery is the

If anyone in Equality's society were to disobey the Council, they would be punished. "We have
seen one of such men burned alive in the square of the City. And it was a sight which has stayed
with us through the years, and it haunts us, and follows us, and it gives us no rest. We were a
child then, ten years old. And we stood in the great square with all the children and all the men of
the City, sent to behold the burning. They brought the Transgressor out into the square and they
led them to the pyre. They had torn out the tongue of the Transgressor, so that they could speak
no longer" (Rand 50). The Council had shown the community the burning of the Transgressor as a
threatening bribe so that the community would know not to disobey The Council, because if they
did they would be punished. The threat of punishment was an indirect form of bribery placed by
that society's government on its daily life. Bribery is one of the negative side effects that result
from the corruption of government actions. There are also economic effects that result from
government corruption. These economic effects coincided with bribery. People who work for
companies that are at risk of being shut down for health or other reasons will pay any amount to
make their problems go away. In Mexico, food store owners such as Jose Luis Garcia will pay
anywhere from $50–$100 to have inspectors turn the other way (Archibold). This happens on a
small scale such as

Argumentative Essay On Power And Corruption
Power and corruption are concepts that are difficult to fully understand. Several controversies occur
within these topics. There are both conventional and unconventional ways of viewing power. In an
attempt to make a claim contrary to common belief, David Brin stated, "It is said that power
corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible." This statement is not
accurate because power is the corrupting device responsible for a plethora of downfalls leaders have
experienced.
Downfalls from power occur when there is an imbalance between the two souls present in the body.
Every human has two conflicting souls that serve as consciences to guide one's actions: the animal
soul and the godly soul. The former acts as a means of acquiring the necessities of life, acting in the
best interest of oneself. The latter focuses on doing what is morally right, aiming to help others.
Often, the animal soul is associated with evil. Though everyone has both souls, some may have one
soul dominant over the other, leading them to have more attributes associated with that specific soul.
For example, greed and corruption are prevalent among people with excessive power. When
viewing the behavior of those in authoritative positions, one may notice that, "Their animal soul has
become so dominant over time that it becomes the norm" (Anchor Text). Their need for success has
become equivalent to an animal's desire for food and life. People without power also have animal
souls as

Persecution Of Political Corruption
Political corruption faces a few ethical dilemmas. The prosecution faces so many issues when
attempting to prosecute political figures for crimes of bribery or corruption. Conviction of political
members requires a strong case against the accused and witnesses or whistleblower are usually
essential in developing that case. The seniority of the political member doesn't matter any acts of
improprieties has to be held accountable. Speech or Debate Clause was developed to protect
legislators from being persecuted by prosecution while conducting official legislative to further their

Since the phenomenon of globalization, companies that decided to broaden their horizons have to

In order to draw that line companies should look at three different aspects. First, the international
laws about gifts and bribes must be carefully analysed. Second, companies should gather
information in regard to what is permitted by the local culture. Last but not least, companies must
look carefully at their CSR strategy in order to see which kind of gifts there are ready to accept in
order to be in line with their core values.
After analysing those three aspects, companies will be able to draw a line between gifts and bribes,
using an ethical relativism or an ethical absolutism (Bricoe, Schuler and Tarique, 2012). This list
must be integrated to a gift policy (anti–corruption code; see Appendix 2) that must to be well
communicated, accepted and used by all members of the company. In top of that, the company
should put in place controls system in order to check if the anti–corruption code is respected. The
role of the international human resources management function is therefore crucial. The IHRM
function needs to understand the different cultures the company is dealing with, to tolerate the
cultural diversity while avoiding moral recklessness. This will ask the managers to conduct deep
researches about the cultural differences and to train people concerning the anti–corruption code.

Corruption In Culture
Why corruption is rampant in sport?
Corrupt Culture
Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people
considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is
part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people
should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse
of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and rooted
in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are no
norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make and
economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision. Since
corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti–corruption programs might be efficiently
implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture, instead it
could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history.
However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and
vulnerable environment for corruption. It is mentioned by Boniface (et al., 2012) that most players
are trained and live in a closed environment. Under the tremendous pressure from medical advisors
and sports management, their behavior are controlled and

Essay on Government Corruption
Over the last few years, the issue of corruption––the abuse of public office for private gain––has
attracted renewed interest, both among academics and policymakers. There are a number of reasons
why this topic has come under recent inspection. Corruption scandals have toppled governments in
both major industrial countries and developing countries. In the transition countries, the shift from
command economies to free market economies has created massive opportunities for the
appropriation of rents, excessive profits, and has often been accompanied by a change from a
well–organized system of corruption to a more chaotic and deleterious one. With the end of the cold
war, donor countries have placed less...show more content...
Since the ultimate source of rent–seeking behavior is the availability of rents, corruption is likely to
occur where restrictions and government intervention lead to the presence of such excessive profits.
Examples include trade restrictions such as tariffs and import quotas, industrial policies such as
subsidies and tax deductions, price controls, multiple exchange rate practices and foreign exchange
allocation schemes, and government–controlled provision of credit. Some rents may arise in the
absence of government intervention, as in the case of natural resources, such as oil, whose supply
is limited by nature and whose extraction cost is far lower than its market price. Since abnormal
profits are available to those who extract oil, officials who allocate extraction rights are likely to be
offered bribes. Finally, one would expect that corruption is more likely to take place when civil
servants are paid very low wages and often must resort to collecting bribes in order to feed their
families.
While all of the hypotheses described above are empirically testable, in the sense that data are
available for that purpose, only a few have actually been tested. What empirical studies have been
done support certain hypotheses: namely, that there is less corruption where there are fewer trade
restrictions; where governments do not engage in favoritist industrial policies; and perhaps where

As someone that worked in corrections for 16–years, I have seen corruption events at both the state
level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of
corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations
with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff
are ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the
staff has sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical
actions have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and
state levels across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see
these corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give
them but also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that
those that work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But
when we see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement
community we must ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and
the ethical understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct
in corrections and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law

Argumentative Essay On Corruption
"Corruption is a cancer: a cancer that eats away at a citizen's faith in democracy, diminishes the
instinct for innovation and creativity; already–tight national budgets, crowding out important
national investments. It wastes the talent of entire generations. It scares away investments and jobs"
–Joe Biden. This quote accurately describes the ongoing issue of corruption and why it's so
prevalent especially in developing countries. Corruption is defined as a practice or practices used
by government officials to take advantage of their power for personal gain. This can be found in
several forms including bribery, graft, extortion, kickback, cronyism, and embezzlement. Corruption
is a serious issue in today's society, and often devastates the economy and the citizens inhabiting the
country. It creates inequalities in the distribution of income and wealth. Corruption affects a nation's
development economically and politically. Not only is it unethical, but it also hinders development
and undermines the principles of democracy. This essay will discusses three main subjects or focal
points: corruption in the United States through the legal system, corruption in underdeveloped
countries through the government, and the methods some are using to stop corruption.
In many ways, the United States can be viewed as one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
Hit shows such as Scandal and House of Cards depict the political world as a vicious playground,
one where you can make underground moves and exchange secrets in order to elevate political
standing or achieve a specific goal. Most of the time this leads to a person's financial gains or them
rising up in ranks. From the law enforcement & court system to prisons to even the white house
itself, corruption is evident. There have been several incidents in which law enforcement officials
have abused their power for personal gain. Operation Rockfish is a prime example of how the same
law enforcement officials people rely on for protection and safety can be the same ones endangering
the community. In North Carolina, there was an FBI investigation formed around corrupt law
enforcement officials. It started off with Lann Tjuan Clanton, a former police officer with the

Corruption And Corruption
Corruption is a set of unethical and dishonest practices that are done with the intention of
self–enrichment usually at societal expense.Alege,Adamu and Muhammad (2014) defined
corruption as efforts to secure wealth or power through illegal means for private gain at public
expense or as a misuse of public power for private benefit. The World Bank (1997) defines corruption
as the abuse of public office for private gain.Corruption therefore mainly involves those public
figures regardless of whether they have authority or not.Corruption comes in different ways
including bribery, extortion, emblezzement, tender selling etc.Research has shown that it is difficult to
accurately measure the levels of corruption a country has.It has been shown that countries with high
levels of corruption experience a negative correlation between corruption and economic growth as
compared to those countries with relatively low levels of corruption. The World Bank describes
corruption as ''the single greatest obstacle to economic and social development. It undermines

  • 1. Corruption Effects of Corruption in Multinational Corporation's [Student name] [Professor's name] [Course title] [Date] Introduction Corruption can be defined as a spiritual or moral deviation from an ideal. Corruption come in different styles and that include bribery and funds embezzlement. Corruption has been the number one menace in many countries of the world. It impacts countries in many ways, impacting economy and development in a negative way. Corruption tends to raise the cost of government and may lower the rate of infrastructure growth. Most importantly, corruption has a negative impact on capitalism and foreign investment in that; it changes the environment which in turns affects decisions and actions. Corruption causes...show more content... Bureaucratic harassment such as the waiting time for a permit and statutory tax and tariff rates are other forms of corruption. Countries have different laws, making some actions viewed in our capitalistic society as inappropriate, to be appropriate in a socialism or communistic society. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines corruption as "intentionally to offer, promise or give any undue pecuniary or other advantage....to a foreign public official...in order that the official act or refrain from acting in relation to the performance of official duties in order to obtain or retain business or other improper advantage in the conduct of international business" (Raeschke –Kessler & Gottwald, n.d.). This measure criminalizes bribery in international transactions, however, influence peddling (a practice in which undue advantage of giving, promising or selling of an undue advantage to a person who will sell their influence to the government) is not covered by OECD definition. An effect the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of 1977 found that "United States direct investment in more corrupt countries grew more slowly than in other countries" (Wei, 2000). China is an interesting example. China is a large country with a vast supply of cheap labor. The country also has a great deal of rampant corruption. • 2. Persuasive Essay On Corruption In Society Humanity would not be improved if all were to strive towards utter perfection. When we try hard to be perfect, an unattainable goal, we are bound to fail. Therefore, this inevitable "failure" shall lead to frustration and anger at ourselves though we have done nothing wrong. Should society not be taunted by this impossible goal, society as a whole will be happier and live fulfilled lives. Whereas if everyone were to be reaching for perfection, everyone's lives would be the exact opposite. The core of our society would be filled with more stress–more than what already exists at least– as well as less contemptment with our actions. These negative emotions would result in the implementation of bad means as a result of hopelessness. People will be lead to believe that after failing so many times, the only thing left to do in order to be perfect is to not play by the rules, because when they did, it didn't work. According to mid–twentieth century sociologist Robert Merton, "The moral mandate to achieve success thus exerts pressures to succeed, by fair means if possible and by foul means if necessary"(Robert Merton in Allenby 17). This leads to not only corruption of the individual, but corruption in society as a whole. This is due to the intense level of competition in society that is due to everyone feeling as if they must be the best and outdo those that surround them. These high levels of competition and little room for success leads to stress, depression, and people resulting to loopholes to make their way up to the top. Not only that, but even at a young age, children are being pressured to be the best. Christopher Bergland, ultra–endurance athlete, writer, and psychologist, additionally addressed cheating in his Psychology Today column (2012) when he stated, "We live in such a competitive world. From a very young age our children are taught that if they want to 'succeed' in life that they have to finish in the top percentile in just about every challenge they face. But not everyone can be a champion."(Begland 6). Therefore, not only are adults affected by the pressures of competition, but children are too. If the stress piles up at an early age, then so do the bad habits which will all carry on into their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Corruption In The Justice System In the justice system today, there are three corrupt issues: the evidence, the jury, and the attorneys. There are still more issues to all of it, who is keeping it in check? Why does the United States have these laws, if none of them are able to be enforced on the lawyers and jury? These are all the little problems and questions that have led to the wrong outcomes in our check and balance law system. It comes to the point that the justice system enters a tunnel and doesn't hear any outside facts until the conviction comes in. It's the rush for evidence that fuels them all. The evidence issue is a real thing, created by corrupt police, officers weary of criminals going free and a system bogged down by loopholes and technicalities. Case in...show more content... • 4. Corruption And Its Effects On Society Corruption is globally regarded to be one of the most immoral and ethically wrong practices in the political realm. There is a reason as to why corruption has such a strong negative connotation associated with it, as impacts caused by its direct and indirect effects on society cause massive consequences. The very nature of corruption undermines almost all processes and goals set fourth by a liberal democracy, while causing high distrust and low public approval between officials and citizens. The study of corruption is nothing new; it has been the center of substantial analysis and research for decades. Surveying citizens and asking their perception of the level of corruption in their country mainly carried out early studies on corruption. Later, more direct ways of gathering data emerged with the use of undercover agents that allowed researchers to interpret more reliable data that ultimately gave them better results. Many people living in the developed or modernized world, such as North America or Europe, live under the rule of liberal democracies and are unaware of the extent of corruption that exists around the world. Many citizens living in developing countries face levels of corruption much higher than those found in democratically consolidated and developed states; as the societal environment found in developing states fosters the proper setting for corruption to take place. Corruption is extremely prevalent in a majority of nations around the world, making it Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This article involves all the countries in the world including Canada, in which these countries are ranked based off Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions. It states how and why countries are corrupt. It shows the readers how the scale is created, so they take factors like if the government is held responsible or go unpunished for corruption, or whether institutions respond to citizen's needs. The index is only based on expert opinions in order to produce accurate results. When or where did it take place? This article talks about a topic that took place the whole of 2015, but was released on Wednesday January...show more content... The Transparency International organization gathered this information and ranked it according to how corrupt each country is. The bottom ten corrupt countries are countries that have either a poor government, low quality of life and also have poor education, these countries are usually developing countries also countries that have a lot of wars. The reason why Transparency International ranks countries is because they want uncorrupted countries aid corrupted ones. They also do this to help people find good areas to live. They rank countries every year because of that. The corruption scale is up to 100. They rank countries by how much points they get from 100. Canada scored 83 points and got the spot of 9th place. That means Canada is a good place to live with a high quality of life, and a country were a lot of immigrants/refugees would want to settle. Public sector corruptions unlike other countries isn't a major problem in Canada. This year Transparency International states that 64 countries trended upward (including Canada) and only 53 countries had declined. Who is affected by this news? This article shows the readers the pros and cons of living in a country that is apart of the scale. People living in uncorrupted countries can be affected in a positive way because of more immigrants and tourists and vise versa for the corrupted countries. Immigrants or people looking to move to another country would find this data useful because it can help make their decision on what countries to live hence this positively affects whoever looking to move to another country or as a refugee. This can help uncorrupted countries with their economy because it can help with the tourism industry. Your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Reaction Paper On Corruption The topic of corruption is attracting much attention for politicians, accountants, economists and people in large (Maunuken, R., 1988).The term "corruption' covers a great variety of sins (Hager, L. Michael, 1973). Corrupt means to abuse or destroy www.Dictionary.reference.com. Corruption is the sale of government property for personal gain by government officials (Ramos, M., 2003). According to Ramos, M., (2003) corruption is also use of official position, rank or status by an office bearer for his own personal benefit. Corruption involves behavior which deviates from the normal duties of a public role; pecuniary or status gain; or violates rules against the exercise of certain types of private–regarding influence (U Myint, 2000). The behavior of corruption includes sins such as bribery; extortion; fraud; embezzlement; nepotism; cronyism; appropriation of public assets and property for personal use (Joseph Nye, 1967). Corruption is becoming more common and reaching higher levels in today's settings and can be attributed to diminish state and societal capacity, lawlessness and violence, and short–term horizons generated by political instability (SYNAPSE UNDP, 2019). People are engaging in corruption as a result of the expectation of a personal gain (be it monetary or otherwise), when they are granted power by society to perform certain public duties. Damage the public interest and the biggest loser from corruption is society as a whole (Friedrich, C.J.,1990). A civil Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Political Corruption Essay Political corruption has existed throughout the ages. It believed to be most prominent in positions of power, because of the role money plays in getting people power. However, over the centuries, corruption has changed so much so as to not match a particular definition of corruption, perpetually growing deceptively harder to find (Ebbe). The broadest, most suitable definition which exists today simply states that corruption is any illegal act performed by a politician to produce results which would have been otherwise impossible (Ebbe). In some cases, government, politicians, and criminals entwine for the sake of amassing money in order to secure their own jobs. This form of corruption was apparent in the mafia's association with the...show more content... This paired with poor law enforcement yields an impossibly hard to get rid of corruption. In Kenya, political corruption has grown rampant. People, who are supposed to be representing the interests of their constituency, instead take money from the constituents to keep their representative positions. Political corruption is parasitic; it finds a host, and can almost always find a way to survive. Eventually, people grow dependent on this corruption as a means for income, thus forming a symbiosis between the people who benefit from it, and the elites that regulate it. People sometimes ignore the corruption surrounding them, feeling that as long as the politicians do their jobs well, their 'extra salary' can't hurt (BNS). Generally after revolutions take place, anarchy exists. No new government simply moves into place. During this time, it is easiest for Corruption to take hold of this Government as it forms, limiting or halting the true development of a government for the people. In an environment infested with corruption, any acts of corruption simply become commonplace. Where anarchy exists, people lack the power of representation. If there is a government in which corruption exists, people lack a voice with which to take action. A government is necessary for the growth of people and nations as a whole. If the government is not legitimate, it will only act as a parasite to its host––the people and the country's economy. Various steps have been Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Corruption is the use of public office for private gain, the use of official position, rank or status by an office bearer for his own personal benefit. (Khandu) Corruption can come in different forms, like bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft and embezzlement. (Paper) Corruption can be a major obstacle in the process of economic, political, social and environmental development and in modernizing a country. The regulation of cutting down the trees over at the forest is not allowed. But, the politician uses his power and his money to bribe the people that are in charge of the environmental officials so then he can build his house. It's not only house though, and it's not only politicians who do this. An owner of an industry might bribe the environmental officials as well to cut down the trees and build his going–to–be–very–polluted industry. (Contributor) The damage that is caused by corruption is huge, but it actually depends on which country we are talking about. An example would be England and Indonesia. The corruption in England is less than in Indonesia (it's not like I'm saying that there's no corruption in England). Thus, the damage that cost England is less than Indonesia because there's more corrupt people in Indonesia and it's also because Indonesia is a third world country. More damages are made through corruption in third world countries than any other countries, it's because they aren't developed yet, more likely they won't develop because of the corruption. It very well is possible to measure the damages it cost. By looking at the country's economic, social, environmental and political development and by looking at the country's people, we could estimate just how many people have to suffer because of the corruption in the country. (Ret) Kaplan University Online CJ340–02: Applied Criminal Justice Ethics Professor Kevin Stoehr 17 July 2012 Introduction Corruption is the use of entrusted authority for private gain. Corruption has two sides, the receiver and the giver. According to Myint (2000), both parties to corruption engage in the practice to gain from it and, therefore, both should be accounted for the practice. Corruption in a society is classified into three categories; it may be rare, widespread or systemic. In communities where corruption is rare, there are remarkably few incidences of it, which are usually, extremely difficult to identify. When it is widespread, it means that it occurs in large numbers, in the society, scandals abound in the society, and it is possible to identify the corrupt individuals in the society. If it is systemic, it means that it is inherent, for members of the society to receive certain services have to bribe the officials. Corruption as a cultural tradition does not suits only a few members of the society who practice it. When a government is termed as corrupt, this does not mean that all the officials in the government are corrupt, it is only some unscrupulous officials who are scandalous and painted an image that the government is corrupt and tainted its image. The same applies to culture as a determinant of the level of corruption in a society. When a certain community is termed to have a culture of corruption, such a postulation does not go to the finer details of the society to analyze its individual constituents. The corrupt methods politicians use are ideas that are strictly in place for personal gain. Present throughout history and still prevalent within today's world, government corruption has consisted of a number of negative issues including bribery, economic and social impacts, and the misuse of power. Government's role within daily life has been shown to have negative effects as seen in many aspects of life as well as in literature. If anyone in Equality's society were to disobey the Council, they would be punished. "We have seen one of such men burned alive in the square of the City. And it was a sight which has stayed with us through the years, and it haunts us, and follows us, and it gives us no rest. We were a child then, ten years old. And we stood in the great square with all the children and all the men of the City, sent to behold the burning. They brought the Transgressor out into the square and they led them to the pyre. They had torn out the tongue of the Transgressor, so that they could speak no longer" (Rand 50). The Council had shown the community the burning of the Transgressor as a threatening bribe so that the community would know not to disobey The Council, because if they did they would be punished. The threat of punishment was an indirect form of bribery placed by that society's government on its daily life. Bribery is one of the negative side effects that result from the corruption of government actions. There are also economic effects that result from government corruption. These economic effects coincided with bribery. People who work for companies that are at risk of being shut down for health or other reasons will pay any amount to make their problems go away. In Mexico, food store owners such as Jose Luis Garcia will pay anywhere from $50–$100 to have inspectors turn the other way (Archibold). • 11. Argumentative Essay On Power And Corruption Power and corruption are concepts that are difficult to fully understand. Several controversies occur within these topics. There are both conventional and unconventional ways of viewing power. In an attempt to make a claim contrary to common belief, David Brin stated, "It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible." This statement is not accurate because power is the corrupting device responsible for a plethora of downfalls leaders have experienced. Downfalls from power occur when there is an imbalance between the two souls present in the body. Every human has two conflicting souls that serve as consciences to guide one's actions: the animal soul and the godly soul. The former acts as a means of acquiring the necessities of life, acting in the best interest of oneself. The latter focuses on doing what is morally right, aiming to help others. Often, the animal soul is associated with evil. Though everyone has both souls, some may have one soul dominant over the other, leading them to have more attributes associated with that specific soul. For example, greed and corruption are prevalent among people with excessive power. When viewing the behavior of those in authoritative positions, one may notice that, "Their animal soul has become so dominant over time that it becomes the norm" (Anchor Text). Their need for success has become equivalent to an animal's desire for food and life. People without power also have animal souls as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

While going abroad, companies may become concerned with the subject of corruption that makes the business with foreign countries even more complicated. Even if there is a willingness to fight and reduce the corruption across the world, companies must be aware that this subject exists and must take it into account while dealing with foreign companies, their efforts to understand and adapt to local corruption influencing their success of...show more content... In order to draw that line companies should look at three different aspects. First, the international laws about gifts and bribes must be carefully analysed. Second, companies should gather information in regard to what is permitted by the local culture. Last but not least, companies must look carefully at their CSR strategy in order to see which kind of gifts there are ready to accept in order to be in line with their core values. After analysing those three aspects, companies will be able to draw a line between gifts and bribes, using an ethical relativism or an ethical absolutism (Bricoe, Schuler and Tarique, 2012). This list must be integrated to a gift policy (anti–corruption code; see Appendix 2) that must to be well communicated, accepted and used by all members of the company. In top of that, the company should put in place controls system in order to check if the anti–corruption code is respected. The role of the international human resources management function is therefore crucial. The IHRM function needs to understand the different cultures the company is dealing with, to tolerate the cultural diversity while avoiding moral recklessness. This will ask the managers to conduct deep researches about the cultural differences and to train people concerning the anti–corruption code. Are donations to politicians and political parties a form of corruption? Should donations be prohibited? Donations to politicians and political parties appears in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Corruption In Culture Why corruption is rampant in sport? Corrupt Culture Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and rooted in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are no norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make and economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision. Since corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti–corruption programs might be efficiently implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture, instead it could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history. However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and vulnerable environment for corruption. It is mentioned by Boniface (et al., 2012) that most players are trained and live in a closed environment. Under the tremendous pressure from medical advisors and sports management, their behavior are controlled and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay on Government Corruption Over the last few years, the issue of corruption––the abuse of public office for private gain––has attracted renewed interest, both among academics and policymakers. There are a number of reasons why this topic has come under recent inspection. Corruption scandals have toppled governments in both major industrial countries and developing countries. In the transition countries, the shift from command economies to free market economies has created massive opportunities for the appropriation of rents, excessive profits, and has often been accompanied by a change from a well–organized system of corruption to a more chaotic and deleterious one. With the end of the cold war, donor countries have placed less...show more content... Since the ultimate source of rent–seeking behavior is the availability of rents, corruption is likely to occur where restrictions and government intervention lead to the presence of such excessive profits. Examples include trade restrictions such as tariffs and import quotas, industrial policies such as subsidies and tax deductions, price controls, multiple exchange rate practices and foreign exchange allocation schemes, and government–controlled provision of credit. Some rents may arise in the absence of government intervention, as in the case of natural resources, such as oil, whose supply is limited by nature and whose extraction cost is far lower than its market price. Since abnormal profits are available to those who extract oil, officials who allocate extraction rights are likely to be offered bribes. Finally, one would expect that corruption is more likely to take place when civil servants are paid very low wages and often must resort to collecting bribes in order to feed their families. While all of the hypotheses described above are empirically testable, in the sense that data are available for that purpose, only a few have actually been tested. What empirical studies have been done support certain hypotheses: namely, that there is less corruption where there are fewer trade restrictions; where governments do not engage in favoritist industrial policies; and perhaps where Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. As someone that worked in corrections for 16–years, I have seen corruption events at both the state level and at the local county level in correctional settings. I there are two common forms of corruptions that I have seen correctional officers walked out and arrested for having sexual relations with offenders or bringing in contraband to offenders. These unethical actions by correctional staff are ones that break the trust with not only the offenders and staff but also the community that the staff has sworn by oath to serve and protect. We also see that an element of corruption and unethical actions have and do take place in the criminal justice area of police officers at the city, county, and state levels across the country (Andonova, 2017). When we as members of the American society see these corruptions in the law enforcement agencies, it is not only a break in the trust that we give them but also most times a violation of state and federal laws. As a community, we must expect that those that work in law enforcement are going to make mistakes, we know that no one is perfect. But when we see that criminal statutes have been broken by a member of the law enforcement community we must ask ourselves just where the line between mistake and corruption is drawn, and the ethical understanding between the two (Andonova, 2017). The connection between misconduct in corrections and in policing leave a lot of questions to be answered. Such as, are all law enforcement officers Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Argumentative Essay On Corruption "Corruption is a cancer: a cancer that eats away at a citizen's faith in democracy, diminishes the instinct for innovation and creativity; already–tight national budgets, crowding out important national investments. It wastes the talent of entire generations. It scares away investments and jobs" –Joe Biden. This quote accurately describes the ongoing issue of corruption and why it's so prevalent especially in developing countries. Corruption is defined as a practice or practices used by government officials to take advantage of their power for personal gain. This can be found in several forms including bribery, graft, extortion, kickback, cronyism, and embezzlement. Corruption is a serious issue in today's society, and often devastates the economy and the citizens inhabiting the country. It creates inequalities in the distribution of income and wealth. Corruption affects a nation's development economically and politically. Not only is it unethical, but it also hinders development and undermines the principles of democracy. This essay will discusses three main subjects or focal points: corruption in the United States through the legal system, corruption in underdeveloped countries through the government, and the methods some are using to stop corruption. In many ways, the United States can be viewed as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Hit shows such as Scandal and House of Cards depict the political world as a vicious playground, one where you can make underground moves and exchange secrets in order to elevate political standing or achieve a specific goal. Most of the time this leads to a person's financial gains or them rising up in ranks. From the law enforcement & court system to prisons to even the white house itself, corruption is evident. There have been several incidents in which law enforcement officials have abused their power for personal gain. Operation Rockfish is a prime example of how the same law enforcement officials people rely on for protection and safety can be the same ones endangering the community. In North Carolina, there was an FBI investigation formed around corrupt law enforcement officials. It started off with Lann Tjuan Clanton, a former police officer with the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The World Bank describes corruption as ''the single greatest obstacle to economic and social development. It undermines development by distorting the rule of law and weakening the institutional foundation on which economic growth depends''.
