Animals In Laboratories For Testing
Would you want to be tortured and remain miserable all so somebody could test on you? Animal
testing is continuing to be a major issue happening all around us. We need to raise awareness for
these animals. To the animals we are their only hope. This ongoing issue is a topic we need to
become more informed about, as its very important. Animals are treated as objects instead of living
creatures. The testing includes about 80% of these experiments are used for research and drug
development. The u.s. law allows animals to be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved,
drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain damaged. The way they go about the testing needs to be
changed. There needs to be alternatives without the harm of animals or any living creature. Testing
on animals can be an acceptation, but its about the way they treat them to do these tests.
When we decide to experiment on these animals, we are not getting accurate results. Not only is this
unreliable but its unethical. The labs think conducting these tests helps people, but...show more

There is a new alternative for testing on animals. The system includes using human cells and tissues
known as "vitro" methods. The technique uses an advanced computer modeling, and studies with
human volunteers. This takes less time and money to conduct. Volunteers are given an extremely
small one time drug dose, and uses imaging techniques to monitor how the drug is working in the
body. Macrodosing replaces certain tests and helps screen out drug compounds that do not work on
humans. This is so they wont needlessly advance to government required testing. The drugs for
humans would be safer than they are now if the animal testing was eliminated. Studies have shown
testing has only worked for humans through animal testing about 5–25 percent of the time. Yes it
helps, but we shouldn't be staying focused on a method that only works less than half of the

There are about more than 100 million animals that are killed in laboratories. Animals are innocent
and many of them include mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, and dogs. These animals are
harmless and can not defend themselves from us sometimes. It is evident that no animal should be
tested on.
As you can see, animal and human organisms are different. For this reason, whatever is tested on
an animal can result different on a human. If an animal is given a acid / liquid it could possibly
result as a positive answer, but if its given to a human it could possibly result negative. Also animal
and humans don't always have the same reaction to a drug. For instance, the rat is given a pill it
could lose its tail and if its given to a human it could help them with back pain. It comes to no
surprise that animals are beautiful creatures, and it is sad that we use them to test chemicals on them
that are harmful....show more content...
They say that testing on animals has allowed us to understand better on how our body works.
Many animal body parts can be similar to ours allowing us to gain a better understanding on our
body. While it is true that animals research can help us gain a better understanding of our body in
some cases, but animals ( rats) and humans don't have the same body parts. It is evident that animal
and humans don't have the same body parts because our brain can manage to do a lot of things that
animals can not. As a result it is not fair that many animals are forced and killed to do many things.
Therefore, animals are forced to inhale powders and other toxic chemicals that will just waste their
lives. Concluding, that animals should not be tested

Animal experimentation is a brutal way to see if products are going to be able to be used on humans.
When scientists test products on animals, it causes the helpless them to be in excessive amounts of
pain. The animals experience murderous tests like drilling into their skulls, and burning their skin,
and eyes. Even though animal experimentation helps to find new diseases and medicines that are
safe for humans, scientists should not use animals to experiment on because it doesn't always work
,and the tests are causing unnecessary harm to living animals.
First, animal experimentation should not be used because nine times out of ten, it doesn't work. For
example, an article "Animal Testing Needs to Go" by Campus Times, explains that research
increasingly shows that animals that were tested on do not correspond to humans. Meaning that
experimental drugs tested on animals fail on human trials 9 out of 10 times....show more content...
For example, from "The Price of Killing Off Animal Testing" by John Ericson, shows a student who
attends the University of Connecticut by the name of Justin Goodman. Goodman says that he has
been an animal rights activist since he saw scientists drilling holes in the heads of monkeys to put
metal coils in their brains. That's proving that scientists are causing unnecessary harm to animals just
for testing their brain waves or seeing how they react to different tests. There is better ways to test
these things than using helpless animals.
Lastly, Justin Goodman, a PETA Director of Laboratory Investigation states in the article "Animal
Testing Needs to Go", on his college campus, he saw monkeys getting their brains injected with acid,
bolting various devices to their heads, and implanting electrodes in their brains. He also explained
that he saw the monkeys get stainless steel coils attached to their eyeballs. This visually shows that
scientists are harming animals for the wrong

пѓ Animal testing, also known as animal experiments and in vivo testing, is the use of non–human
animals for experimentation. It is estimated that between 100 – 150 million vertebrate animals,
including mice, rats, birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, farm animals, dogs, cats and non–human
primates, are used in animal testing annually worldwide. This staggering number does not reflect the
millions of vertebrates in the United States that are excluded from the Animal Welfare Act (AWA)*,
and therefore not required to be reported. Additionally, between 50– 100 million invertebrate
animals are used in animal experiments annually.

Dear all animal testing labs across the world
Before you buy make–up just consider the pain and suffering that the poor animals in labs have to
go through everyday just so that you can look good. Yes boys this also includes you, just think about
what those animals in labs that go through so much for you guys just so that you can use shaving
creams and deodorants.
Every year, around 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in Australian labs.
Animals do not belong to us for experimentation use. No animal should ever be forcedto develop
cancer like mice are;be deliberately paralysed from brain damage like monkeys are; or be force–fed

In tests for possible hazardous chemicals, animals are given a substance every day for 2 years. Some
other tests involve killing pregnant animals and testing their foetuses.
10. Some tests achieve one or more of the "3 R's:" These are: replacing a procedure that uses
animals with a procedure that doesn't, reducing the number of animals used in a procedure, refining
a procedure to ease or minimize potential animal pain.
Drugs that pass animal tests are not necessarily safe for humans. For example: animal tests on the
arthritis drug Vioxx, showed that it had a protective effect on the hearts of mice, but can potentially
cause more than 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths for humans. It has since been
removed from the market.
Many animals used in experiments are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. The AWA does not
cover rats, mice, fish and birds, which make up around 95% of the animals used in research. It
covered 1,134,693 animals used for testing in 2010, still leaving around 25 million other animals not
covered. These animals are thereforehelpless without the protection of the AWA. Even with the
protection of the AWA animals are still tortured and killed daily in laboratories across the

When you go shopping for mascara, perfume, lotion etc, do you ever stop and think what product
you're using? You may be supporting animal testing and not even realize it. Many of the products we
use on an everyday basis are tested on animals first before getting into our hands. Not only that, every
year millions of animals are hurt and killed for the purpose of advancement in science, household
products, cosmetic companies, and educational institutions. Animal testing is wrong and inhumane!
Animals should not be treated bad, or undergo any pain, just to make a human's life "better". Many
people believe this is the way to go just because they're "just animals" but they don't see that animals
feel everything a human does, and it's sad because they can't speak for themselves, they are helpless
and defenseless!
Us humans and animals are very much alike. We have many characteristics and features in
common. Hence why animals are used for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity driven
experimentation, and chemical drug, food, and cosmetic testing (Peta), because they tend to react
and project the same reaction as humans would. Animals mostly used in research are dogs, cats,
mice. rabbits , guinea pigs, primates, fish, birds and many others. Every year more than 100 million
of these innocent animals are killed in the United States laboratories to progress in medicine, and

Animals are not objects like trash that they can just be used then disposed. Animal are being used
all around the world for something that they really are not needed for. So many animals are being
harmed and dying because of animal experimentation. Maybe if it was for science it might have been
important but animal experimentation is not needed for science anymore because scientist have
found alternate ways to experiment things without taking lives. Just like us animals also have rights
and animal experimentation is something that violates their rights. People need to stop using

countless things that can be used for experimentation than animals. So many labs and scientists are
using theses new ways to end animal experimentation. Also, scientist can test and do experiments for
countless things without worrying about laws and the amount of animals that are dying now."The
innovation takes the place of animal mediums: Instead of running the drug through an animal liver, a

the things that scientist have discovered to do experimentation with animals. This method is so
much better than using animals. This is not just beneficial to animals but it is also beneficial to

For many years, animal testing has been very widely accepted in the world for the purpose of
testing products such as makeup, new medicine and medical procedures, as well as determining
whether or not some foods are safe for human consumption. It's a growing problem in the world that
has led to the suffering of animals for thousands of years in order to benefit humans. In order to fix
this, these tests need more strict regulations to be implemented in order to save animal lives and find
less inhumane solutions to continue humanity's progressive lifestyle without destroying nature's.
Animal testing has been a widely used practice in scientific research since the dawn of modern
civilization. The earliest recorded accounts...show more content...
Chris Abee, Director of University of Texas Cancer Center, stated that without the testing of
chimpanzees, they would not have a vaccine for Hepatitis B and the use of animal testing is their
best hope for finding a cure for Hepatitis C. Though a necessity for some things, animal testing isn't
the only way to test new products and find cures for diseases. There are ways that can reduce the
animal death toll and prevent inhumane treatment of all kinds of animals. In–vitro studies have been
shown to be an effective tool, which is the performance of a procedure in a controlled environment
outside of a living organisms. Though not as effective as in–vivo studies, the living cells of a

According to the Humane Society "the animals are not in a safe environment and they treated
brutally". Animal testing is harmful to animals, and leaves them with scars, burns, and eye
infections. In 2010, almost 100,000 animals were agonized during an experiment and not given
any anesthesia to relieve it. There is an eye test used by cosmetic companies called the "Draize
eye test". The Draize eye test is used to evaluate how shampoos and other products will irritate a
person's eyes. In this eye test rabbits are deprived of their abilities. Their eyelids are held open for
days at time using clips so the product in their eyes cannot be blinked away. There was a cancer
patient who spent $30,000 to test different kinds of chemotherapy on mice. By doing this she had to
give them all the particular type of cancer she had. (Kopp) These mice were put through pain and
suffering for nothing but failed attempts. There are laws like the Animal Welfare Act that are
suppose to protect animals but they do not cover rats, mice, fish or birds. Unfortunately, that leaves
about 25 million animals that are uncovered. That means 95% of animals are not protected (AWA).

Over the centuries, humankind has made incredible advancements in every field. Scientists have
been able to document the history of the world without a single consistent writing system. They have
gone to great lengths to finally prove evolution. Scientists have gained great knowledge, but some of
this knowledge came at great cost to the innocent creatures of this planet. These creatures are being
tortured and experimented on just because they are not human and somehow that makes them less

It mutilates innocent animals. Destroying their lives and their happiness. They are being taken
away from their homelands and forced to reproduce and be "guinea pigs" for scientists. For
example; a chimpanzee named Kitty suffered for decades in a New Mexico lab where she was
considered a "breeder." She was forced to give birth to over 14 babies that were used in research.
As soon as they were born she would have them taken from her. Not only are these animals being
deprived of a normal life, they are having their freedom stolen from them. Some of these animals
belong in the wild, like the monkeys. They weren't meant to be taken from the wild and put in
cages and experimented on everyday. These animals have their children taken from them. And their
well being. Nothing deserves this kind of torture and torment. It's not right in fact it's just cruel.
There is humane ways to do research. Such as the In Vitro method. This method uses a system that
mimics the structure and function of the human organs and organ system. This can be used in
disease research, drug testing, and cosmetics. It also allows for cancer screening, and to test new
surgical operations. Scientists are developing new cell and tissue tests. This alternative is less
costly and way more reliable than using animal tests. In 2004 there was an arthritis drug called
Vioxx that was tested on animals. If appeared to be safe, but it was later recalled

It is hard to imagine a life without the childhood trips to the zoo, the circus, and other animal
based attractions. It is even harder to imagine a daily life without digging in to a hamburger and
washing it down with a cold glass of milk. It is almost impossible to imagine a life where one does
nothing wrong, but it subject to abuse and torture for selfish purposes of another species. Animal
exploitation is a common yet overlooked practice all around the world. Helpless animals are poked,
prodded, and slaughtered without acknowledgement due to the satisfaction it brings to the human
race. However, if it was known what happens behind the scenes of the making of your dinner or the
production of your favorite show at SeaWorld, the lives of tortured animals could change forever.
Domestic breeding is a commonly overlooked method of exploitation. Common in breeding and pet
store chains, domestic breeding is defined by the ASPCA as "a large–scale commercial dog breeding
operation that places profit over the well–being of its dogs–who are often severely neglected–and
acts without regard to responsible breeding practices." Animals who are bred in mills are bred
solely for profit; they are not appropriately cared for or provided with the proper living conditions.
They live in these conditions for weeks to months before being sold or shipped off to a store. Often,
theses animals are ridden with diseases and disorders due to inbreeding and unsanitary surroundings.

It is the only law that is meant to control the use of animals in experiments, exhibits, testing, etc.
Excluded from this act are birds, rats ( lab rats), and mice ( lab mice). High trained inspectors such
as veterinary medical officers (VMO) and animal control inspectors (ACI) are asked to do
unanounced check– ins to make sure that the people testing the animals are following the law.
Even though animal testing is not the best, it can have some benefits. For example, the polio
vaccine was tested on animals and reduced the global number of disease from 350,000 in 1988 to
27 in 2016. Some animals may benefit from animal testing also if animal werent tested on, then alot
more animals would die from rabies, distemper, feline lukemia, etc. Aniamls are good to test on
because they're like humans in many ways. Chimpanzees share 99% of the same DNA as humans
and mice are 98% the same as humans.
Finally, I think that animal testing is bad and should not happen. Too many animals each year die
from animal testing and there are is more ways to test products than on animals. If the places that
do test animals follow the AWA then I think that so many animals would die each year. Even tho

Throughout history, animal experimentation has played an important role in leading to new
discoveries and human benefits. However, what many people tend to forget are the millions of
animals that are tortured or killed during the process of these painful, deadly experiments. Many
people seem to misunderstand animal nature and the laboratory procedures and techniques that are
executed on the animals. The procedures are cruel, unreliable, and harmful. Luckily there are more
humane alternatives that have also proved to be less expensive.

Some might even consider it abuse. It is something that goes unnoticed every day because of the
benefits that humans gain from it. Animal testing is overshadowed by advancements in the medical
field. However, no product or medicine makes it acceptable.
Just because humans are considered a more powerful species, doesn't give us the right to treat
animals as if they are nothing. Would you want to be treated that way by a more dominant species
just for their benefit? It is clearly unfair. If you pull your cat's tail, it yells because it hurts. Animals
experience pain. They go through the same pain that we would if we were subjected to painful,
deadly experiments. Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit, mouse, chimpanzee, or human, pain is something
we all feel.
However, when you compare the anatomy of a cat to that of a human, you can find numerous
differences, making animal testing unreliable and sometimes even dangerous. Some might say that
animal testing is crucial to scientific research but how can something be so crucial if the results are
not even completely accurate?
Luckily, there are alternatives for animal testing including computer models, cell structures, and
human testing. Although some may argue that computer models and cell structures are unreliable,
so is animal testing. You are given the choice between two unreliable methods, except in one, you are
not killing an innocent creature. Human testing is also a more just method. If the results are

It has become common today to dismiss the still very big problem of animal testing. This topic is

Animal testing is often cruel and inhumane. The Draize eye test, used by cosmetics companies to
evaluate irritation caused by shampoos and other products, involves rabbits being incapacitated in
stocks with their eyelids held open by clips, sometimes for multiple days, so they cannot blink

fact that this has ever been allowed is nauseating. Another example of cruel treatment is when
scientists use MPTP to replicate Parkinson's disease in a Marmoset. If we don't want to go thru the

"The question is not, can they reason? Not, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" – Jeremy Bentham.
Testing on animals was never the humane way to test new products or drugs on animals. The fact
that there are companies out there that choose to test on animals is disappointing because those
companies have options to replace such cruelty. Animal experimentation is not the only option; there
is always an option. A couple methods for replacing animal experimentation are in vitro technology
which is based on human cell and tissue cultures and in silico technology, also known as computer
modeling. In vitro testing uses only samples of blood, cells, or tissue donated from a patient and
from there, researchers can find results, diagnostics, basically most of the information they would
need. In silico technology, however, is a little different. In silico testing takes place on a computer
model. These computer models simulate human biology and and the progression of developing
diseases. Studies show that these models can accurately predict the ways that new drugs will react in

Animal testing is cruel and immoral because these animals have emotions and can feel the same pain
as humans.
It is absurd to test poor animals for the benefit of a woman's desire to make her face look "pretty."
Animals should not be tested and tortured, so a female can have a specific foundation that will make
her face look clear. Scientists have other methods on testing these makeup products but still choose
to use animals for safety precautions. Rebbeccah ZuaZua writes in an online article, "Animal testing
is simply unnecessary. This doesn't mean that we should instead put humans in danger. A solution to
animal testing is for companies to use products that are already deemed safe. Tons of ingredients
have already been confirmed as safe for human skin." (ZuaZua, para. 4). If many ingredients have
been confirmed to be safe on human skin, they should use what they have and try to make it better
and combine those to make a specific product. The humane society has given estimates of over
100,000 to 200,000 animals that die or get severely disfigured because of animal make up testing.
These makeup companies put many chemicals down these animals' throats and put dozens of
products onto their skin to ensure that it is safe for humans. Animals are not protected, and they go
through horrific pain. Animals lose their sight, bleed through their skin, have internal bleeding,
organ damage, birth defects and convulsions until it comes to their death (Rebeccah, para. 5).
Cosmetic users should be informed about the creation and development of their makeup products.
Animals are killed for a product that will probably last 2–3 months. One cannot help but feel bad
and take a stand against it and switch to cruelty free makeup.
Animal testing is very cost effective. It requires our governments to spend lots of taxpayers'
money to keep animals fed, get them transported and tested on. In an article on The Daily Caller
written by Michael Bastasch in 2013 he makes a statement that the government spends as much as
$14.5 billion per year on animal testing (Bastasch, para. 1). "$14.5 billion could provide a lot of tax

I have been in the past blind to the issue of animal–testing, yet since choosing to use only
cruelty–free brands have been forced to conduct research into the world of animal testing; since

made the right choice as various websites highlight both the benefits as a consumer buying cruelty

cosmetic testing on animals is both immoral and unethical and believe that as an often overlooked
epidemic of questionable ethics we should all be doing our part to stop it.
Alas, as a frequently ignored and disguised problem, it isn't often we look at our makeup bag and
think to ourselves how many innocent animals have actually been harmed in the production of our
favourite cosmetic products. However, it is sad to say that there is still a major problem in regards

Animal testing is present in many research fields. From developing medicine, like the polio vaccine,
to cosmetics, to test for skin and eye irritations. The way these animals are treated and killed is
inhumane and unethical. There are better ways to test human products that would not involve
animal cruelty, they could also provide more accurate results. For these reasons, animal testing for
commercial or scientific purposes should not be legal.
The way animal test subjects are treated can be described as poorly at best. Sadistically is more
accurate though. Animals used in testing can be subject to food and water deprivation, force
feeding, prolonged periods of physical restraint, forced inhalation, the infliction of burns and other
wounds to study healing, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies. Skin and eye
irritation tests where chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dripped into the eyes of
restrained rabbits without pain relief. Repeated force–feeding studies lasting weeks or months to
look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards such as cancer or birth defects. Also,
"lethal dose" tests, in which animals are forced to swallow large...show more content...
Using human cells can more accurately show how humans would react to them. Artificial human
skin is made from sheets of human skin cells grown in test tubes or plastic wells and can produce
more useful results than testing chemicals on animal skin (Alternatives to Animal Testing). When
animals are used, the results are not necessarily helpful. Aspirin is dangerous for some animal
species and was "almost shelved" because of animal test results (Animals and Public Health) because
it can cause problems for animals that may not be relevant with humans (Of Mice or Men). Animal
testing is not only inhumane but with today's technology it has become outdated and

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
Persuasive essay
Imagine just waking up one day being stripped of your home, children, food and everything you
own. You're in the dark and all of a sudden these bright, intense, fluorescent lights flick on. A very
large, unfamiliar looking menacing figure approaches you and prods you with needles and all
sorts of drugs. Your barely fed and you're stuck here for the rest of your life. Now what if I told
you that already happens today in the year 2017. These "people" i'm talking about are poor
defenseless animals that have to go through these horrible conditions every day just for an
experiment that might not even work. All animal testing should be banned, even if such testings
would save human lives because, the process is painful, you're endangering a species and haven't all
cruel despicable nations tested on not only humans but also animals. The amount of pain that not
even most, but ALL animals have to go through every day is sickening. In an article written by
PETA they mention how "It's unethical to sentence 100 million thinking, feeling animals to life in a
laboratory cage and intentionally cause them pain, loneliness, and fear."(PETA "Top five reasons to
stop animal testing") That is a lot of animals to be stripped from their homes and sanctioned to this
punishment. A big part of animal testing too is that even though they have gotten a lot better with
the conditions of animal testing, they still haven't necessarily increased in quality. Animals are still

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Brittany Thorne Animals In Laboratories For Testing Would you want to be tortured and remain miserable all so somebody could test on you? Animal testing is continuing to be a major issue happening all around us. We need to raise awareness for these animals. To the animals we are their only hope. This ongoing issue is a topic we need to become more informed about, as its very important. Animals are treated as objects instead of living creatures. The testing includes about 80% of these experiments are used for research and drug development. The u.s. law allows animals to be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain damaged. The way they go about the testing needs to be changed. There needs to be alternatives without the harm of animals or any living creature. Testing on animals can be an acceptation, but its about the way they treat them to do these tests. When we decide to experiment on these animals, we are not getting accurate results. Not only is this unreliable but its unethical. The labs think conducting these tests helps people, but...show more content... There is a new alternative for testing on animals. The system includes using human cells and tissues known as "vitro" methods. The technique uses an advanced computer modeling, and studies with human volunteers. This takes less time and money to conduct. Volunteers are given an extremely small one time drug dose, and uses imaging techniques to monitor how the drug is working in the body. Macrodosing replaces certain tests and helps screen out drug compounds that do not work on humans. This is so they wont needlessly advance to government required testing. The drugs for humans would be safer than they are now if the animal testing was eliminated. Studies have shown testing has only worked for humans through animal testing about 5–25 percent of the time. Yes it helps, but we shouldn't be staying focused on a method that only works less than half of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal testing There are about more than 100 million animals that are killed in laboratories. Animals are innocent and many of them include mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, and dogs. These animals are harmless and can not defend themselves from us sometimes. It is evident that no animal should be tested on. As you can see, animal and human organisms are different. For this reason, whatever is tested on an animal can result different on a human. If an animal is given a acid / liquid it could possibly result as a positive answer, but if its given to a human it could possibly result negative. Also animal and humans don't always have the same reaction to a drug. For instance, the rat is given a pill it could lose its tail and if its given to a human it could help them with back pain. It comes to no surprise that animals are beautiful creatures, and it is sad that we use them to test chemicals on them that are harmful....show more content... They say that testing on animals has allowed us to understand better on how our body works. Many animal body parts can be similar to ours allowing us to gain a better understanding on our body. While it is true that animals research can help us gain a better understanding of our body in some cases, but animals ( rats) and humans don't have the same body parts. It is evident that animal and humans don't have the same body parts because our brain can manage to do a lot of things that animals can not. As a result it is not fair that many animals are forced and killed to do many things. Therefore, animals are forced to inhale powders and other toxic chemicals that will just waste their lives. Concluding, that animals should not be tested Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal experimentation is a brutal way to see if products are going to be able to be used on humans. When scientists test products on animals, it causes the helpless them to be in excessive amounts of pain. The animals experience murderous tests like drilling into their skulls, and burning their skin, and eyes. Even though animal experimentation helps to find new diseases and medicines that are safe for humans, scientists should not use animals to experiment on because it doesn't always work ,and the tests are causing unnecessary harm to living animals. First, animal experimentation should not be used because nine times out of ten, it doesn't work. For example, an article "Animal Testing Needs to Go" by Campus Times, explains that research increasingly shows that animals that were tested on do not correspond to humans. Meaning that experimental drugs tested on animals fail on human trials 9 out of 10 times....show more content... For example, from "The Price of Killing Off Animal Testing" by John Ericson, shows a student who attends the University of Connecticut by the name of Justin Goodman. Goodman says that he has been an animal rights activist since he saw scientists drilling holes in the heads of monkeys to put metal coils in their brains. That's proving that scientists are causing unnecessary harm to animals just for testing their brain waves or seeing how they react to different tests. There is better ways to test these things than using helpless animals. Lastly, Justin Goodman, a PETA Director of Laboratory Investigation states in the article "Animal Testing Needs to Go", on his college campus, he saw monkeys getting their brains injected with acid, bolting various devices to their heads, and implanting electrodes in their brains. He also explained that he saw the monkeys get stainless steel coils attached to their eyeballs. This visually shows that scientists are harming animals for the wrong Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay пѓ Animal testing, also known as animal experiments and in vivo testing, is the use of non–human animals for experimentation. It is estimated that between 100 – 150 million vertebrate animals, including mice, rats, birds, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, farm animals, dogs, cats and non–human primates, are used in animal testing annually worldwide. This staggering number does not reflect the millions of vertebrates in the United States that are excluded from the Animal Welfare Act (AWA)*, and therefore not required to be reported. Additionally, between 50– 100 million invertebrate animals are used in animal experiments annually. пѓ Hundreds of millions of animals are used every year in toxins test, The list of experiment which they are submitted has not end, The animals expose to different process for example " The expose to electric chocks and insert all type of toxins, Over 100 million animals are burned, cripple, poisoned and abused In US lads every year. пѓ 92% of experiment drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they are too dangerous or don't work, even animals that are protected under the WAW (Animal Welfare Act. • 5. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Dear all animal testing labs across the world Before you buy make–up just consider the pain and suffering that the poor animals in labs have to go through everyday just so that you can look good. Yes boys this also includes you, just think about what those animals in labs that go through so much for you guys just so that you can use shaving creams and deodorants. Every year, around 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in Australian labs. Animals do not belong to us for experimentation use. No animal should ever be forcedto develop cancer like mice are;be deliberately paralysed from brain damage like monkeys are; or be force–fed pesticides and other chemicals like dogs are. Besides being wrong and inhumane, animal testing is not...show more content... In tests for possible hazardous chemicals, animals are given a substance every day for 2 years. Some other tests involve killing pregnant animals and testing their foetuses. 10. Some tests achieve one or more of the "3 R's:" These are: replacing a procedure that uses animals with a procedure that doesn't, reducing the number of animals used in a procedure, refining a procedure to ease or minimize potential animal pain. Drugs that pass animal tests are not necessarily safe for humans. For example: animal tests on the arthritis drug Vioxx, showed that it had a protective effect on the hearts of mice, but can potentially cause more than 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths for humans. It has since been removed from the market. Many animals used in experiments are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. The AWA does not cover rats, mice, fish and birds, which make up around 95% of the animals used in research. It covered 1,134,693 animals used for testing in 2010, still leaving around 25 million other animals not covered. These animals are thereforehelpless without the protection of the AWA. Even with the protection of the AWA animals are still tortured and killed daily in laboratories across the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay When you go shopping for mascara, perfume, lotion etc, do you ever stop and think what product you're using? You may be supporting animal testing and not even realize it. Many of the products we use on an everyday basis are tested on animals first before getting into our hands. Not only that, every year millions of animals are hurt and killed for the purpose of advancement in science, household products, cosmetic companies, and educational institutions. Animal testing is wrong and inhumane! Animals should not be treated bad, or undergo any pain, just to make a human's life "better". Many people believe this is the way to go just because they're "just animals" but they don't see that animals feel everything a human does, and it's sad because they can't speak for themselves, they are helpless and defenseless! Us humans and animals are very much alike. We have many characteristics and features in common. Hence why animals are used for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity driven experimentation, and chemical drug, food, and cosmetic testing (Peta), because they tend to react and project the same reaction as humans would. Animals mostly used in research are dogs, cats, mice. rabbits , guinea pigs, primates, fish, birds and many others. Every year more than 100 million of these innocent animals are killed in the United States laboratories to progress in medicine, and advance in science. That's only in the United States now imagine in the whole entire world? Do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay Animals are not objects like trash that they can just be used then disposed. Animal are being used all around the world for something that they really are not needed for. So many animals are being harmed and dying because of animal experimentation. Maybe if it was for science it might have been important but animal experimentation is not needed for science anymore because scientist have found alternate ways to experiment things without taking lives. Just like us animals also have rights and animal experimentation is something that violates their rights. People need to stop using animals for experimentation. First of all,Animal experimentation is not necessary for things that are not really that important and do not need experimentation.The...show more content... Before, animal experimentation was something that people needed to do to find cures but it is not needed anymore. "For many laboratory scientists, this waning approval isn't cause for concern, because a near–identical trend is emerging within the research community, and more and more U.S. labs are using innovative cross–disciplinary technologies to spare at least some of the 25 million animals used for research annually"(Ericson). Now, in the 21st century scientist have developed countless things that can be used for experimentation than animals. So many labs and scientists are using theses new ways to end animal experimentation. Also, scientist can test and do experiments for countless things without worrying about laws and the amount of animals that are dying now."The innovation takes the place of animal mediums: Instead of running the drug through an animal liver, a chemist can now force the drug to react with the chemosynthetic liver. "(Ericson). This is just one of the things that scientist have discovered to do experimentation with animals. This method is so much better than using animals. This is not just beneficial to animals but it is also beneficial to scientist because now they can know more about what is happening when they test things. These new ways of experimenting do not just save the lives of animals but they also help scientist do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing For many years, animal testing has been very widely accepted in the world for the purpose of testing products such as makeup, new medicine and medical procedures, as well as determining whether or not some foods are safe for human consumption. It's a growing problem in the world that has led to the suffering of animals for thousands of years in order to benefit humans. In order to fix this, these tests need more strict regulations to be implemented in order to save animal lives and find less inhumane solutions to continue humanity's progressive lifestyle without destroying nature's. Animal testing has been a widely used practice in scientific research since the dawn of modern civilization. The earliest recorded accounts...show more content... Chris Abee, Director of University of Texas Cancer Center, stated that without the testing of chimpanzees, they would not have a vaccine for Hepatitis B and the use of animal testing is their best hope for finding a cure for Hepatitis C. Though a necessity for some things, animal testing isn't the only way to test new products and find cures for diseases. There are ways that can reduce the animal death toll and prevent inhumane treatment of all kinds of animals. In–vitro studies have been shown to be an effective tool, which is the performance of a procedure in a controlled environment outside of a living organisms. Though not as effective as in–vivo studies, the living cells of a organisms can last months to years if kept in a controlled environment to allow for the study of diseases without the killing of animals. Animal testing is also a very unregulated practice in the world, According the Animal Welfare Act, animals such as rats, mice, fish and birds are not covered, which makes up to 95% of the animals used in research. Another flaw of animal testing is sometimes that drug tests on animals don't always correlate to humans. According to neurologist Aysha Akhtar, over 100 drugs that were effective when used on animals were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay On Animal Testing Imagine being tortured, poisoned, and burned and not being able to do anything about it. This is done to you every single day until you're dead or not useful anymore. If you are lucky enough you will just be left with scars, eye infections and your skin burned off. This is what animals experience when they are being test on. Animal testing consist of animal experimentation, research, and in vivo testing. It is used to see what will occur to human skin or eyes when the use a certain product, what will occur when they take a certain medicine or for basic biology research. Animal testing is cruel and harming towards animals, millions of them are being used every year. These animals are being water deprived, forced fed, and go through long trials...show more content... According to the Humane Society "the animals are not in a safe environment and they treated brutally". Animal testing is harmful to animals, and leaves them with scars, burns, and eye infections. In 2010, almost 100,000 animals were agonized during an experiment and not given any anesthesia to relieve it. There is an eye test used by cosmetic companies called the "Draize eye test". The Draize eye test is used to evaluate how shampoos and other products will irritate a person's eyes. In this eye test rabbits are deprived of their abilities. Their eyelids are held open for days at time using clips so the product in their eyes cannot be blinked away. There was a cancer patient who spent $30,000 to test different kinds of chemotherapy on mice. By doing this she had to give them all the particular type of cancer she had. (Kopp) These mice were put through pain and suffering for nothing but failed attempts. There are laws like the Animal Welfare Act that are suppose to protect animals but they do not cover rats, mice, fish or birds. Unfortunately, that leaves about 25 million animals that are uncovered. That means 95% of animals are not protected (AWA). These animals end up killed by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck breaking and decapitation. • 10. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay Over the centuries, humankind has made incredible advancements in every field. Scientists have been able to document the history of the world without a single consistent writing system. They have gone to great lengths to finally prove evolution. Scientists have gained great knowledge, but some of this knowledge came at great cost to the innocent creatures of this planet. These creatures are being tortured and experimented on just because they are not human and somehow that makes them less important. There are alternatives to this behavior. The better path is not always easiest, but it will end this monster humankind created. Every year over more than one hundred million animals are killed in labs for experimental research,...show more content... It mutilates innocent animals. Destroying their lives and their happiness. They are being taken away from their homelands and forced to reproduce and be "guinea pigs" for scientists. For example; a chimpanzee named Kitty suffered for decades in a New Mexico lab where she was considered a "breeder." She was forced to give birth to over 14 babies that were used in research. As soon as they were born she would have them taken from her. Not only are these animals being deprived of a normal life, they are having their freedom stolen from them. Some of these animals belong in the wild, like the monkeys. They weren't meant to be taken from the wild and put in cages and experimented on everyday. These animals have their children taken from them. And their well being. Nothing deserves this kind of torture and torment. It's not right in fact it's just cruel. There is humane ways to do research. Such as the In Vitro method. This method uses a system that mimics the structure and function of the human organs and organ system. This can be used in disease research, drug testing, and cosmetics. It also allows for cancer screening, and to test new surgical operations. Scientists are developing new cell and tissue tests. This alternative is less costly and way more reliable than using animal tests. In 2004 there was an arthritis drug called Vioxx that was tested on animals. If appeared to be safe, but it was later recalled Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is even harder to imagine a daily life without digging in to a hamburger and washing it down with a cold glass of milk. It is almost impossible to imagine a life where one does nothing wrong, but it subject to abuse and torture for selfish purposes of another species. Animal exploitation is a common yet overlooked practice all around the world. Helpless animals are poked, prodded, and slaughtered without acknowledgement due to the satisfaction it brings to the human race. However, if it was known what happens behind the scenes of the making of your dinner or the production of your favorite show at SeaWorld, the lives of tortured animals could change forever. Domestic breeding is a commonly overlooked method of exploitation. Common in breeding and pet store chains, domestic breeding is defined by the ASPCA as "a large–scale commercial dog breeding operation that places profit over the well–being of its dogs–who are often severely neglected–and acts without regard to responsible breeding practices." Animals who are bred in mills are bred solely for profit; they are not appropriately cared for or provided with the proper living conditions. They live in these conditions for weeks to months before being sold or shipped off to a store. Often, theses animals are ridden with diseases and disorders due to inbreeding and unsanitary surroundings. Entertainment is a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal Testing Ninty two percent of drugs tested on animals immediately fail when first tried on humans. Each year 100 million animals are killed in labs for biology lessons, and experiments made off of curiosity. The animals get force feed, forced inhalation, low food and water, long periods of physical movement, burns and other wounds to study how they heal. Animals are very different from humans that's why they make poor test results. The things they test on animals are not meant for them so thats why they don't work most of the time. Only eight percent of drugs tested on animals work on humans. Drugs that do pass animal tests are not necessarilly safe because there bodies are not made like ours. Out of all of the animals 92% of them are...show more content... It is the only law that is meant to control the use of animals in experiments, exhibits, testing, etc. Excluded from this act are birds, rats ( lab rats), and mice ( lab mice). High trained inspectors such as veterinary medical officers (VMO) and animal control inspectors (ACI) are asked to do unanounced check– ins to make sure that the people testing the animals are following the law. Even though animal testing is not the best, it can have some benefits. For example, the polio vaccine was tested on animals and reduced the global number of disease from 350,000 in 1988 to 27 in 2016. Some animals may benefit from animal testing also if animal werent tested on, then alot more animals would die from rabies, distemper, feline lukemia, etc. Aniamls are good to test on because they're like humans in many ways. Chimpanzees share 99% of the same DNA as humans and mice are 98% the same as humans. Finally, I think that animal testing is bad and should not happen. Too many animals each year die from animal testing and there are is more ways to test products than on animals. If the places that do test animals follow the AWA then I think that so many animals would die each year. Even tho animal testing can save lives and cure dieseases it's a waste of money and there is simpler ways to find Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay Throughout history, animal experimentation has played an important role in leading to new discoveries and human benefits. However, what many people tend to forget are the millions of animals that are tortured or killed during the process of these painful, deadly experiments. Many people seem to misunderstand animal nature and the laboratory procedures and techniques that are executed on the animals. The procedures are cruel, unreliable, and harmful. Luckily there are more humane alternatives that have also proved to be less expensive. I assume many of you have pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, and mice. Imagine yourself as your pet, but instead of living in a warm home with a caring family, you live locked up in a small metal cage,...show more content... Some might even consider it abuse. It is something that goes unnoticed every day because of the benefits that humans gain from it. Animal testing is overshadowed by advancements in the medical field. However, no product or medicine makes it acceptable. Just because humans are considered a more powerful species, doesn't give us the right to treat animals as if they are nothing. Would you want to be treated that way by a more dominant species just for their benefit? It is clearly unfair. If you pull your cat's tail, it yells because it hurts. Animals experience pain. They go through the same pain that we would if we were subjected to painful, deadly experiments. Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit, mouse, chimpanzee, or human, pain is something we all feel. However, when you compare the anatomy of a cat to that of a human, you can find numerous differences, making animal testing unreliable and sometimes even dangerous. Some might say that animal testing is crucial to scientific research but how can something be so crucial if the results are not even completely accurate? Luckily, there are alternatives for animal testing including computer models, cell structures, and human testing. Although some may argue that computer models and cell structures are unreliable, so is animal testing. You are given the choice between two unreliable methods, except in one, you are not killing an innocent creature. Human testing is also a more just method. If the results are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Persuasive Speech On Animal Testing It has become common today to dismiss the still very big problem of animal testing. This topic is not new and you probably will have other letters on the subject. This does not deter me from writing about this topic though. We have made progress in recent years in bringing down the number of animals used in research, but this does not mean the problem is gone. Animal testing is often cruel and inhumane. The Draize eye test, used by cosmetics companies to evaluate irritation caused by shampoos and other products, involves rabbits being incapacitated in stocks with their eyelids held open by clips, sometimes for multiple days, so they cannot blink away the products being tested. We do this to test if a mascara is harmful or not is dreadful. The fact that this has ever been allowed is nauseating. Another example of cruel treatment is when scientists use MPTP to replicate Parkinson's disease in a Marmoset. If we don't want to go thru the experiment ourselves, then why should we have a living being that shares 99% of it's DNA go thru it. We need to enforce the rules we have on animal testing or not this will continue...show more content... According to neurologist Aysha Akhtar, MD, MPH, over 100 stroke drugs that were effective when tested on animals have failed in humans, and over 85 HIV vaccines failed in humans after working well in non–human primates. These tests are not reliable because the test subjects have a different genetic makeup compared to humans. The difference is, great enough that even an animal that shares 99% of their DNA with humans could fail. Fk–506 (tacrolimus), used to lower the risk of organ transplant rejection, was "almost shelved" because of animal test results, according to neurologist Aysha Akhtar, MD, MPH. This is a case where if it was shelved countless people could have died. It is also a dangerous reminder that animal testing is not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal Testing Shouldn't Happen At all! I strongly agree with the con side of the Article(animals shouldn't be used for testing) for the simple reason that they are alive as well as feeling pain. People are too. It needs to stop,as long as it doesn't, it only turns People into bigger monsters. It's also a big waste of money on inaccurate experiments that waste animals' lives. Animals are pure, innocent, and natural. They don't do anything except for their basic needs for survival. They for one, have done nothing to us. When they are taken away from their natural habitat, People show that they are the ones to blame. People should stop for the reason they need to prove they are not the unfair ones instead, learn to be at peace with each other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay "The question is not, can they reason? Not, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" – Jeremy Bentham. Testing on animals was never the humane way to test new products or drugs on animals. The fact that there are companies out there that choose to test on animals is disappointing because those companies have options to replace such cruelty. Animal experimentation is not the only option; there is always an option. A couple methods for replacing animal experimentation are in vitro technology which is based on human cell and tissue cultures and in silico technology, also known as computer modeling. In vitro testing uses only samples of blood, cells, or tissue donated from a patient and from there, researchers can find results, diagnostics, basically most of the information they would need. In silico technology, however, is a little different. In silico testing takes place on a computer model. These computer models simulate human biology and and the progression of developing diseases. Studies show that these models can accurately predict the ways that new drugs will react in the human body and replace the use of animals in many standard drug tests. Also, QSARs are computer–based...show more content... Sophisticated imaging techniques are used to monitor how the drug behaves in the body and advanced brain imaging and recording techniques with human volunteers can be used to replace archaic experiments in which rats, cats, and monkeys have their brain damaged. Also, the "Lethal Dose 50" test forces animals to ingest toxic and lethal substances to the endpoint where 50% of the animals in the study die which means that it would be more efficient for people to volunteer to be "micro dosed" instead of having hundreds of animals just Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal testing is cruel and immoral because these animals have emotions and can feel the same pain as humans. It is absurd to test poor animals for the benefit of a woman's desire to make her face look "pretty." Animals should not be tested and tortured, so a female can have a specific foundation that will make her face look clear. Scientists have other methods on testing these makeup products but still choose to use animals for safety precautions. Rebbeccah ZuaZua writes in an online article, "Animal testing is simply unnecessary. This doesn't mean that we should instead put humans in danger. A solution to animal testing is for companies to use products that are already deemed safe. Tons of ingredients have already been confirmed as safe for human skin." (ZuaZua, para. 4). If many ingredients have been confirmed to be safe on human skin, they should use what they have and try to make it better and combine those to make a specific product. The humane society has given estimates of over 100,000 to 200,000 animals that die or get severely disfigured because of animal make up testing. These makeup companies put many chemicals down these animals' throats and put dozens of products onto their skin to ensure that it is safe for humans. Animals are not protected, and they go through horrific pain. Animals lose their sight, bleed through their skin, have internal bleeding, organ damage, birth defects and convulsions until it comes to their death (Rebeccah, para. 5). Cosmetic users should be informed about the creation and development of their makeup products. Animals are killed for a product that will probably last 2–3 months. One cannot help but feel bad and take a stand against it and switch to cruelty free makeup. Animal testing is very cost effective. It requires our governments to spend lots of taxpayers' money to keep animals fed, get them transported and tested on. In an article on The Daily Caller written by Michael Bastasch in 2013 he makes a statement that the government spends as much as $14.5 billion per year on animal testing (Bastasch, para. 1). "$14.5 billion could provide a lot of tax relief for Americans. It could help pay down national debt or help prevent a shutdown," says Anthony Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing I have been in the past blind to the issue of animal–testing, yet since choosing to use only cruelty–free brands have been forced to conduct research into the world of animal testing; since researching on the internet cruelty–free brands I have become more and more convinced that I've made the right choice as various websites highlight both the benefits as a consumer buying cruelty free and the unseen atrocities of behind the scenes animal testing. I feel passionate that the practice of cosmetic testing on animals is both immoral and unethical and believe that as an often overlooked epidemic of questionable ethics we should all be doing our part to stop it. Alas, as a frequently ignored and disguised problem, it isn't often we look at our makeup bag and think to ourselves how many innocent animals have actually been harmed in the production of our favourite cosmetic products. However, it is sad to say that there is still a major problem in regards to animal testing in 2017; 'why?' you may wonder, and to put it simply, for the release of your newest, highly anticipated mascara or lipstick – when put into perspective this suffering seems surplus to requirements. The 'Cruelty–Free International' have confirmed this year that there are currently over 115 million animals of varying species and breeds being used for animal testing worldwide; and for whose benefit – well, ours, can our own benefit really overshadow the unethical mistreatment of animals. These statistics are daunting, and you may have previously read about the horrors of animal–testing, leading to brief feelings of guilt or sadness, but ultimately feeling unable to do anything significant in regards to making a difference carried on buying brands which test on animals. By choosing to buy cruelty–free brands you are effectively making a stand and saying 'no' to animal testing. This may seem inconsequential, yet what language is unanimous to the entire beauty industry – profit. By refusing business and stopping monetary flow to businesses until they agree to stop animal testing. In order to do so though you must also make the effort to become informed on what brands are and aren't cruelty–free seeing as many prefer to keep the unfortunate truths of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing Animal testing is present in many research fields. From developing medicine, like the polio vaccine, to cosmetics, to test for skin and eye irritations. The way these animals are treated and killed is inhumane and unethical. There are better ways to test human products that would not involve animal cruelty, they could also provide more accurate results. For these reasons, animal testing for commercial or scientific purposes should not be legal. The way animal test subjects are treated can be described as poorly at best. Sadistically is more accurate though. Animals used in testing can be subject to food and water deprivation, force feeding, prolonged periods of physical restraint, forced inhalation, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study healing, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies. Skin and eye irritation tests where chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dripped into the eyes of restrained rabbits without pain relief. Repeated force–feeding studies lasting weeks or months to look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards such as cancer or birth defects. Also, "lethal dose" tests, in which animals are forced to swallow large...show more content... Using human cells can more accurately show how humans would react to them. Artificial human skin is made from sheets of human skin cells grown in test tubes or plastic wells and can produce more useful results than testing chemicals on animal skin (Alternatives to Animal Testing). Aspirin is dangerous for some animal species and was "almost shelved" because of animal test results (Animals and Public Health) because it can cause problems for animals that may not be relevant with humans (Of Mice or Men). • 20. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay Persuasive essay Imagine just waking up one day being stripped of your home, children, food and everything you own. You're in the dark and all of a sudden these bright, intense, fluorescent lights flick on. A very large, unfamiliar looking menacing figure approaches you and prods you with needles and all sorts of drugs. Your barely fed and you're stuck here for the rest of your life. Now what if I told you that already happens today in the year 2017. These "people" i'm talking about are poor defenseless animals that have to go through these horrible conditions every day just for an experiment that might not even work. All animal testing should be banned, even if such testings would save human lives because, the process is painful, you're endangering a species and haven't all cruel despicable nations tested on not only humans but also animals. The amount of pain that not even most, but ALL animals have to go through every day is sickening. In an article written by PETA they mention how "It's unethical to sentence 100 million thinking, feeling animals to life in a laboratory cage and intentionally cause them pain, loneliness, and fear."(PETA "Top five reasons to stop animal testing") That is a lot of animals to be stripped from their homes and sanctioned to this punishment. A big part of animal testing too is that even though they have gotten a lot better with the conditions of animal testing, they still haven't necessarily increased in quality. Animals are still Get more content on HelpWriting.net
