information provided from. It is also difficult to accept the information, since so many different
opinions out there. One of the trending topic of information searched by many people is about
health and beauty. It seems people are more caring about their health and beauty, and open to try
anything to fit in to society. It also makes them feel safe and comfortable to do homemade remedies

Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree?
It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a
motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled.
Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should
not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in
the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the
particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and
the whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content...
Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister
to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have
to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support
and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the
younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their
parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is
that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you
to perform well, be it academically or in other areas. Having siblings also means that you have
companionship, the joy of caring and sharing, and security. I, personally, am happy that I am not an
only child.
Students should not take up part time jobs. Discuss.
Nowadays, students love to have part–time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to
gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before,
teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they
were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers
nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the

Making Friends Through Internet Essay
Nowadays, making friends on internet has been popular throughout the world. People search for new
friends, soul mates, or confidants. The internet has become an important tool to connect people with
each other. Since the internet is so convenient, making friends may no longer be a problem. On the
other hand, Internet Friendship may lead to some troubles because some people make get cheated
online. I strongly disagree with the establishment of relationships through internet because I think
friends on internet friends are different from real life friends. No one knows what their purpose is.
From my past experience, the relationship with internet friends does not last long because they often
come and go easily. There are some negative effects...show more content...
Some parents are not aware of dangers of internet that brings to their children particularly making
friends through internet. For example, their children might get cheated with someone else on
internet and their children will not tell what happen to them when they encounter danger.
According to BBC News, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet
face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out beforehand or else her daughter might be in danger.
From this news, we can see that there internet friends are not always honest and they are more likely
to consider as un–trustful strangers. Therefore, parents should concern more about their children,
teach them about the dangers of making friends on internet, and avoid them from going out with a
stranger.
With the development of internet, people are able to meet new friends who have the same interest or
hobby through the internet. Although, it is easy to make friends on internet, people do not know
whether the person they are talking to is good or bad. Some people will also spend most of their
time on internet which leads them to less interaction with friends and family. Parents should concern
more about their children while they are meeting new friends on internet. Although the internet
allows people to stay in touch with distant family and friends, I think the negative effects

The Importance Of Writing An Argumentative Essay
As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but
with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a
lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it
requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself,
and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I
was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure,
reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing.
The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course
I learned the importance of having an essay structure, before I started this class I didn't have a
very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first
one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many
essays but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was,
I did not even have a clear thesis. One only thing even close to one that I could spot was, "The
"millennials," people born in the last two decades of the 20th century, are failing to reflect Rich's
model for a good education." It merely addresses the topic in a simple way. It did not serve the

In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical
thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or
relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this
argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and
was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay
includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The
introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day
the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well
to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise'
influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't
blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the
writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people
who agree or disagree with the topic.

Examples Of Argumentative Essay
Argumentative essay presents a point of view about something and explains the reasons in order to
win readers' agreement. It is built around a specific statement (or main premise) that is debatable
within the field in which students are studying. In other words, at the center of an argumentative
essay is a statement with which readers may disagree. The argumentative essay will need to support
that statement in a manner that convinces the readers of its truth. It mainly strives to convince the
reader of the writer's point of view, using reasonable and ethical methods .The process of argument
composition varies from writer to writer, most writers follow these three stages: forming an
argument, which can consist of discovering a motive for writing and identifying an audience to
address, discovering and sharpening a position, and developing an appropriate style; supporting the
argument; and reviewing the argument, which can include considering the image projected by
argument, making substantial additions or deletions to a first draft, and adding an introduction and
conclusion (Cheng and Chen 2009, Day,1997, Liu,2005,Mayberry,2009)....show more content...
The first feature is superstructure which refers to the organizational plan of any text and the linear
progression of the text. The second feature is the quality of logical reasoning which is assessed by
analyzing the interrelationships of writers' assertions and the associated support or data provided to
substantiate those claims. The third feature is identified as persuasive appeal, including affective
appeal and establishment of writer credibility. Finally, she notes that audience awareness is an
important characteristic of successful argumentative writing. The writer must observe an awareness
of the reader's perspective by dealing implicitly or explicitly with possible

What Makes An Effective Argument Ineffective?
1.The basic parts of an effective argument are a stated clearly defined issue, makes a claim, and
offers support for that claim. Sometimes an argument may also recognize opposing viewpoints and
incorporate them into the argument
2.What makes an argument ineffective is when using emotional appeals to distract a reader from a
lack of evidence. Also the use of faulty reasoning, and inaccurate facts.
3.An issue is a problem, controversy, or an idea that people can have different viewpoints about.
The term claim is a point in which a writer is trying to prove. This is typically the writer's viewpoint
on the issue. A refutation is recognizing and auguring against opposing viewpoints.
4.A claim of value focuses on an opinion or judgment about

Argumentative Essay On Global Warming
As of November 2016, Donald Trump was elected our 45th President of the United States, he is
known as a business man with little knowledge of how exactly politics work or ones' position in
the White House. This man was selected to run our country for the next four years; there are many
words for which could be used to describe our president, good and bad. The United States, more
importantly Earth, is the most vital form of life yet to Trump it is an insignificant waste of money.
Trump in less than a year managed to withdraw the U.S from all effective forms of saving our
environment. With three years left in office there is still a lot keep an eye on, with hopes of smarter
thinking on ways to improve our home. During Trumps election campaign, he repeatedly mentioned
his belief or lack thereof on Global Warming: in a tweet, written November 6th 2012 he wrote "The
concept of Global Warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to U.S manufacturing
non–competitive." Despite what this tweet may indicate, global warming is very real and the
Chinese did not create it for their benefit. Unfortunately, Trump has still not seen the error in his
words or thought it wise to pick up any scholarly article on the very real issue global warming is
causing. Since being sworn into office Trump has promised to cut budgets for the Environment titled
"A New Foundation for American Greatness," these cuts would take away 31% of the Environmental
Protection Agency's budget – more than $2.7

Argumentative Essay On The Bill Of Rights
The Bill of Rights is one of the most important things in the American government .The Bill of
Rights has 10 Amendments. The fifth one however is one of the important one. The fifth
Amendment deals with police procedures. Along with basic Constitutional limits, or in other words
guidelines that Congress has to follow. The Fifth Amendment is a one of the most important
Amendments because it gives people the rights to speech and privacy, the fifth doesn't let people be
charged with the same felony twice, and it gives citizens the right to a fair trial.
The first reason the fifth amendment is one of the more important amendments is because it gives
people the rights to speech and privacy. "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or other
infamous crime" (Bill of Rights). This states that a person does not have to talk if they do not deem it
fit. Someone can plead the fifth and they just stated that they do not want to talk. On the other hand
some might say that this is not a strong argument because in other countries crime is limited because
people have to speak. "The government continued to take controversial steps restricting media
freedom, justifying them mostly by the need to counter Russia's anti–Ukraine propaganda" (World
Report 2017). This states that when banning the freedom of social media it protects the government
and country from attacks, mainly Russia. Although this is true banning the rights of social media
may cause arguments to break out. The fifth

Explanation: Our lives are full of ups and downs. Often we get so caught up with the downs in our
lives that we fall into depression. We feel that everything in life is falling apart. You regret the
choices you've made in the past and feel that you have failed in life. Understand that you cannot go
back in time and undo choices you've made but that you can stop yourself from repeating the past by
making smarter decisions so that you can have a better future.

things and nothing will lose if you try right.
4."The heart has its reasons which reason knows not." –Blaise Pascal
Explanation: The heart, the organ capable of storing love can also reason. Its reasoning makes all
the sense in the world to the heart and to the heart's owner when the owner first hears it. It's the
reasoning that makes you fall in love at first sight. It's the reasoning that somehow makes it so hard
to let somebody go even though you have no logical reason to want that person to stay.
Reaction: The quote means that you have to listen to your heart. Just like in love, you just only
knew that you love that person but you don't know why. We fall in love in a mutual weirdness and
called it love.

Writing An Argumentative Essay
During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I
have had to write numerous amounts of essays and papers for various subjects, all requiring
different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and
think of whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for
my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an argumentative research paper is something I had yet
to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged me
in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the
simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas. Also, simply reflecting on what information needs
to be apart of the essay and what doesn't.
While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to
write and truly convince the reader that what I am writing about is in fact important. I have
learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of
people not just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about
the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in your writing. You are writing to
broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that
grade. Thinking of who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however,

The Great Gatsby Argumentative Essay
It's time to get rid of the idea of the "American Dream" we once cherished. The "American Dream"
has strayed so far from the true, original meaning and has instead become a convoluted,
argumentative point for politicians to use in their speeches. No one can openly oppose it because it
captures our faith in advancement as a nation. Opposing it would be unpatriotic no matter how
unrealistic it truly is. That is the exact reason this phrase has survived all odds, it provides hope for
those without. It is what drives us all, whether we know it or not, even though its nothing but an
unreachable dream. The "American Dream" is what drives the entire decade of the roaring twenties,
living fast and living large, even what drives Jay Gatsby, formerly...show more content...
You can have money, tons, but if you don't have family or anyone to give and receive love from, it
means nothing. This is how Gatsby felt, you can sense it throughout the entire novel. "He hadn't

measure of response it drew from her well–loved eyes. Sometimes, too, he stared around at his
possessions in a dazed way, as though in her actual and astounding presence none of it was any
longer real. Once he nearly toppled down a flight of stairs." (Fitzgerald 112) The lavish lifestyle
and silk shirts of every fathomable color meant nothing to him, he only did it all for Daisy. Just
like in The Grapes of Wrath, if any of the Joad's had been on their own then they probably would
have settled for something less than great, like the job on the side of the road picking peaches for
five cents a bushel. However, because they had family, and wanted the best for their family like
most people do, they went through all the obstacles thrown their way to get closer to their

Should I Stay or Should I Go
It is time to make a decision regarding what to do after high school. The most popular decision is
to go right into college. Some students say they would like to take a year off before going to college.
This is called a Gap Year, meaning they have a gap in betweeneducation. Some do well, and prepare
themselves for college, while others do not. Those that do take a year off have time to explore what
life has to offer, and takes advantage of the deferment application, become a better person.

By taking this time off to explore what life has to offer, this decision has made several students
feel more mature as young adults. They were able to understand who they have become, and able
to handle pressures in life that came along such as basic stereotyping, patience with others, and
feeling more mature than their peers when they return to college. With using a year in between
school and college, one can defer their application to college and go figure out what type of
person they will become. Some get upset with going to college that first year and by taking the
year off, most students come back with some life changing skills that enable them to have the
traits, skillset and firsthand knowledge to deal with the first year of college situations such as
parties, ethics, and alcohol. Most students feel that by taking this time off, it helps in their growth
and not just mentally, but spiritually. One female even lost faith during her first year as a result
of her experience. After hearing of the rape of one of the orphans, she recalled her religious doubts:
"How can God let this happen?" (Shea, J. pg. 570). Many colleges are allowing more students to
apply for a gap year. "In 2009, Princeton University launched a fully subsidized international
volunteering gap year option for incoming undergraduates to encourage an international perspective

Argumentative Essay On News Media
News media serves as the main source of information for people in most nations, regardless of the
kind of government or democracy in place. Since humans take decisions and function based on
the kind of information they have, the importance of information flow cannot be overemphasised.
Governments, well aware of the role and power of the news media to influence the populace,
place a high premium on, and will go to great lengths to align the available news media to serve
their purpose. This goes for the whole spectrum on governance, from democratic to autocratic.
Observing the origins of conflict globally over years, especially civil wars which is a great threat to
human security, information available from news media has been a key motivation or driver.
The 1994 Rwandan genocide is an example of how information access interphases with national
security negatively to create chaos. The government of the day used state owned media to pitch the
Tutsi's and Hutu's against each other, while the world watched. Democratic governments do not
necessarily guarantee press freedom and human rights, and autocracies stifle the same as we may
want to think, if taken at face value. Many democratic governments basically run the state owned
news media and dictate their output, which begs the question what is the minimum level of
democracy and what exactly makes media "free". (Hutchinson, Salvatore and Whitten–Woodring).
Sometimes there seems to be a mismatch between government type and the

Argumentative Essay On Gymnastics
"Gymnastics taught me everything– life lessons, responsibility and discipline and respect," says
Shawn Johnson, 2008 Beijing Olympics All Around Gold Medalist. A hotly debated issue is
whether or not competitive sports are beneficial for children and teens. (This, though, will focus
solely on gymnastics.) However, research shows gymnastics is a perfectly healthy sport which
teaches life skills such as time management, sportsmanship, and healthy habits.
First, gymnastics teaches time management. For instance, gymnasts have long practice hours.
According to Gymnasticscoaching.com and research surveys, these are the average practice times
per level: "Level 4 – 6 hours a week = 3 days x 2 hours; Level 5 – 8.75 hrs a week; Level 6 – 11

In fact, Christopher Bergland stresses that being active as children will lead to being healthy adults,
as well as having lifelong habits of working out. Gymnasts definitely are active, as seen in the
practice hours mentioned in the first paragraph. In gymnastics, flipping around requires muscle,
flexibility, and strength; qualities that are easily transferable to other sports as well. Rita Wieber,
the mother of Jordyn Wieber, says nutrition is very important for a gymnast. "Eat what she needs to
perform at her best...be as healthy as possible," she writes. Gymnasts usually do their sport until their
mid–teens...being told about eating healthy will have a lasting impact on them. On the contrary,
doctors and parents argue that because of the nature of gymnastics, gymnasts are susceptible to
eating disorders. Actually, gymnasts who get eating disorders are most likely nagged by the coach
to lose weight and become stronger. If the coach is verbally abusive and crude, should the gymnast
even be training under them? Probably not! Anyways, gymnasts are not likely to be affected by
anorexia, bulimia, and the like because gymnastics enriches confidence. Think about it– on beam,
gymnasts are flipping on a four feet high, four inches wide piece of wood in front of judges. They
put in their hardest work to get the best score possible, and they know it. Furthermore, healthy
habits are just a few of the life skills

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first
started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively
affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and
change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced
the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate
change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but
evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like
Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an
increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity.
According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the
Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include
change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although
numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on
whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is
neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media
and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings
of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of
these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice
in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by
nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September
2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

AN OVERVIEW OF THE NIGERIAN ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT |
By
A. H. Ekpo & 0. J. UmohINTRODUCTION
This article overviews the growth and development of the Nigerian economy from inde pendence to
present times. Specifically, the following periods are discussed: the pro–oil boom decade (1960–70);
the period of the oil boom (1971 1977); the period of stabilisation and structural adjustment (1986 –
1993) and the period of guided deregulation (1994 –1998).GENERAL PERFORMANCE OF THE
ECONOMY
The Nigerian economy has had a truncated history. In the period 1960–70, the Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) recorded 3.1 per cent growth annually. During the oil boom era, roughly 1970–78,
QDP grew positively by 6.2 per cent annually – a...show more content...
There are many reasons for this, but I will focus on one which most analysts ignore. It is the oil
resource curse: the easy money from oil which has created a culture of helpless dependence on
manna from the Delta, and the consequent political economy based on sharing and consumption
rather than baking the cake or wealth creation. Under such a system, production–oriented politics is
an anathema. This is not peculiar to Nigeria. As evidence, I posit that there are very few (if any)
countries in the world where more than 50 per cent of government revenue comes from such
natural resource rents as oil and the political parties and national politics are 'developmental' in
terms of their ideology and plans. If there are such countries, they constitute the useful case studies
for Nigeria. The question is: are there useful examples of how democratic governments have been
able to escape the indolent culture or the lottery effects of easy money from oil to create
competitive economies and sustainable prosperity? This is a huge research agenda and a subject for
another day.
In the first republic, politics and political parties were largely developmental. The regional
governments and the political parties that controlled them were concerned mostly about wealth
creation because that was the only way they could derive their revenue and survive. Oil money was
only beginning to permeate our national body politics when the second republic

poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take

Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say
they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals

Thesis Statement : Global Warming
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe
that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and
have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern
changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very
passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that
are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go
beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the
destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the
increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from
the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of
causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors.
Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is
being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control
people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about

good at those things and if you spend time to do social media, it would be hard to progress your
talents. I did surveys about relationships between using social media and studying last semester.
Most students answered using social media is not helpful to study. Also, students who got good

  • 2. Argumentative Essays Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree? It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled. Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content... Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you to perform well, be it academically or in other areas. Having siblings also means that you have companionship, the joy of caring and sharing, and security. I, personally, am happy that I am not an only child. Students should not take up part time jobs. Discuss. Nowadays, students love to have part–time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Making Friends Through Internet Essay Nowadays, making friends on internet has been popular throughout the world. People search for new friends, soul mates, or confidants. The internet has become an important tool to connect people with each other. Since the internet is so convenient, making friends may no longer be a problem. On the other hand, Internet Friendship may lead to some troubles because some people make get cheated online. I strongly disagree with the establishment of relationships through internet because I think friends on internet friends are different from real life friends. No one knows what their purpose is. From my past experience, the relationship with internet friends does not last long because they often come and go easily. There are some negative effects...show more content... Some parents are not aware of dangers of internet that brings to their children particularly making friends through internet. For example, their children might get cheated with someone else on internet and their children will not tell what happen to them when they encounter danger. According to BBC News, a 47 year old man defrauded a 13 year old girl online and asked to meet face to face. Luckily, the girl's mother found out beforehand or else her daughter might be in danger. From this news, we can see that there internet friends are not always honest and they are more likely to consider as un–trustful strangers. Therefore, parents should concern more about their children, teach them about the dangers of making friends on internet, and avoid them from going out with a stranger. With the development of internet, people are able to meet new friends who have the same interest or hobby through the internet. Although, it is easy to make friends on internet, people do not know whether the person they are talking to is good or bad. Some people will also spend most of their time on internet which leads them to less interaction with friends and family. Parents should concern more about their children while they are meeting new friends on internet. Although the internet allows people to stay in touch with distant family and friends, I think the negative effects Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Importance Of Writing An Argumentative Essay As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself, and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure, reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing. The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course I learned the importance of having an essay structure, before I started this class I didn't have a very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many essays but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was, I did not even have a clear thesis. One only thing even close to one that I could spot was, "The "millennials," people born in the last two decades of the 20th century, are failing to reflect Rich's model for a good education." It merely addresses the topic in a simple way. It did not serve the purpose a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise' influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people who agree or disagree with the topic. It is built around a specific statement (or main premise) that is debatable within the field in which students are studying. In other words, at the center of an argumentative essay is a statement with which readers may disagree. The argumentative essay will need to support that statement in a manner that convinces the readers of its truth. It mainly strives to convince the reader of the writer's point of view, using reasonable and ethical methods .The process of argument composition varies from writer to writer, most writers follow these three stages: forming an argument, which can consist of discovering a motive for writing and identifying an audience to address, discovering and sharpening a position, and developing an appropriate style; supporting the argument; and reviewing the argument, which can include considering the image projected by argument, making substantial additions or deletions to a first draft, and adding an introduction and conclusion (Cheng and Chen 2009, Day,1997, Liu,2005,Mayberry,2009)....show more content... • 8. Argumentative Essay On Global Warming As of November 2016, Donald Trump was elected our 45th President of the United States, he is known as a business man with little knowledge of how exactly politics work or ones' position in the White House. This man was selected to run our country for the next four years; there are many words for which could be used to describe our president, good and bad. The United States, more importantly Earth, is the most vital form of life yet to Trump it is an insignificant waste of money. Trump in less than a year managed to withdraw the U.S from all effective forms of saving our environment. With three years left in office there is still a lot keep an eye on, with hopes of smarter thinking on ways to improve our home. During Trumps election campaign, he repeatedly mentioned his belief or lack thereof on Global Warming: in a tweet, written November 6th 2012 he wrote "The concept of Global Warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to U.S manufacturing non–competitive." Despite what this tweet may indicate, global warming is very real and the Chinese did not create it for their benefit. Unfortunately, Trump has still not seen the error in his words or thought it wise to pick up any scholarly article on the very real issue global warming is causing. Since being sworn into office Trump has promised to cut budgets for the Environment titled "A New Foundation for American Greatness," these cuts would take away 31% of the Environmental Protection Agency's budget – more than $2.7 Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On The Bill Of Rights The Bill of Rights is one of the most important things in the American government .The Bill of Rights has 10 Amendments. The fifth one however is one of the important one. The fifth Amendment deals with police procedures. Along with basic Constitutional limits, or in other words guidelines that Congress has to follow. The Fifth Amendment is a one of the most important Amendments because it gives people the rights to speech and privacy, the fifth doesn't let people be charged with the same felony twice, and it gives citizens the right to a fair trial. The first reason the fifth amendment is one of the more important amendments is because it gives people the rights to speech and privacy. "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or other infamous crime" (Bill of Rights). This states that a person does not have to talk if they do not deem it fit. Someone can plead the fifth and they just stated that they do not want to talk. On the other hand some might say that this is not a strong argument because in other countries crime is limited because people have to speak. "The government continued to take controversial steps restricting media freedom, justifying them mostly by the need to counter Russia's anti–Ukraine propaganda" (World Report 2017). This states that when banning the freedom of social media it protects the government and country from attacks, mainly Russia. BSIE–HE 4A Quotation: 1."Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." –Maria Robinson Explanation: Our lives are full of ups and downs. Often we get so caught up with the downs in our lives that we fall into depression. We feel that everything in life is falling apart. You regret the choices you've made in the past and feel that you have failed in life. Understand that you cannot go back in time and undo choices you've made but that you can stop yourself from repeating the past by making smarter decisions so that you can have a better future. Nothing is impossible if we try new things and nothing will lose if you try right. 4."The heart has its reasons which reason knows not." –Blaise Pascal Explanation: The heart, the organ capable of storing love can also reason. Its reasoning makes all the sense in the world to the heart and to the heart's owner when the owner first hears it. It's the reasoning that makes you fall in love at first sight. It's the reasoning that somehow makes it so hard to let somebody go even though you have no logical reason to want that person to stay. Reaction: The quote means that you have to listen to your heart. Just like in love, you just only knew that you love that person but you don't know why. We fall in love in a mutual weirdness and called it love. 5."When love is not madness it is not love." –Pedro CalderГіn de la Barca Explanation: The actual quote is when love is not madness, it is not love, and it is by Pedro Calderon. • 11. Writing An Argumentative Essay During this course I have learned there is in fact a great deal to writing. Throughout my lifetime I have had to write numerous amounts of essays and papers for various subjects, all requiring different styles and techniques. Before engulfing myself into the writing process I would try and think of whom I am writing to and what I am writing about. I always just assumed I was writing for my audience, that being my teacher. Writing an argumentative research paper is something I had yet to accomplish in my college career. Not only was it thought provoking but this paper challenged me in many ways, such as, knowing who I should be directing throughout the essay to as well as the simple steps of organizing my thoughts and ideas. Also, simply reflecting on what information needs to be apart of the essay and what doesn't. While writing for academic reasons I would always write for the grade, not for the purpose to write and truly convince the reader that what I am writing about is in fact important. I have learned that when writing an argumentative research paper you are writing for an audience of people not just to one person. You are writing to convince the reader why they should care about the topic, and the reader should be able to feel that passion in your writing. You are writing to broaden the thoughts regarding this topic to whom ever chooses to read your paper not just for that grade. Thinking of who I should direct my paper to is something I still struggle with, however, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Great Gatsby Argumentative Essay It's time to get rid of the idea of the "American Dream" we once cherished. The "American Dream" has strayed so far from the true, original meaning and has instead become a convoluted, argumentative point for politicians to use in their speeches. No one can openly oppose it because it captures our faith in advancement as a nation. Opposing it would be unpatriotic no matter how unrealistic it truly is. That is the exact reason this phrase has survived all odds, it provides hope for those without. It is what drives us all, whether we know it or not, even though its nothing but an unreachable dream. The "American Dream" is what drives the entire decade of the roaring twenties, living fast and living large, even what drives Jay Gatsby, formerly...show more content... You can have money, tons, but if you don't have family or anyone to give and receive love from, it means nothing. This is how Gatsby felt, you can sense it throughout the entire novel. "He hadn't once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well–loved eyes. Sometimes, too, he stared around at his possessions in a dazed way, as though in her actual and astounding presence none of it was any longer real. Once he nearly toppled down a flight of stairs." (Fitzgerald 112) The lavish lifestyle and silk shirts of every fathomable color meant nothing to him, he only did it all for Daisy. Just like in The Grapes of Wrath, if any of the Joad's had been on their own then they probably would have settled for something less than great, like the job on the side of the road picking peaches for five cents a bushel. However, because they had family, and wanted the best for their family like most people do, they went through all the obstacles thrown their way to get closer to their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. argumentative essay Should I Stay or Should I Go Post University Should I Stay or Should I Go It is time to make a decision regarding what to do after high school. The most popular decision is to go right into college. Some students say they would like to take a year off before going to college. This is called a Gap Year, meaning they have a gap in betweeneducation. Some do well, and prepare themselves for college, while others do not. Those that do take a year off have time to explore what life has to offer, and takes advantage of the deferment application, become a better person. By taking this time off to explore what life has to offer, this decision has made several students feel more mature as young adults. They were able to understand who they have become, and able to handle pressures in life that came along such as basic stereotyping, patience with others, and feeling more mature than their peers when they return to college. With using a year in between school and college, one can defer their application to college and go figure out what type of person they will become. Some get upset with going to college that first year and by taking the year off, most students come back with some life changing skills that enable them to have the traits, skillset and firsthand knowledge to deal with the first year of college situations such as parties, ethics, and alcohol. Most students feel that by taking this time off, it helps in their growth and not just mentally, but spiritually. One female even lost faith during her first year as a result of her experience. After hearing of the rape of one of the orphans, she recalled her religious doubts: "How can God let this happen?" (Shea, J. pg. 570). Many colleges are allowing more students to apply for a gap year. "In 2009, Princeton University launched a fully subsidized international volunteering gap year option for incoming undergraduates to encourage an international perspective and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Argumentative Essay On News Media News media serves as the main source of information for people in most nations, regardless of the kind of government or democracy in place. Since humans take decisions and function based on the kind of information they have, the importance of information flow cannot be overemphasised. Governments, well aware of the role and power of the news media to influence the populace, place a high premium on, and will go to great lengths to align the available news media to serve their purpose. This goes for the whole spectrum on governance, from democratic to autocratic. Observing the origins of conflict globally over years, especially civil wars which is a great threat to human security, information available from news media has been a key motivation or driver. The 1994 Rwandan genocide is an example of how information access interphases with national security negatively to create chaos. The government of the day used state owned media to pitch the Tutsi's and Hutu's against each other, while the world watched. Democratic governments do not necessarily guarantee press freedom and human rights, and autocracies stifle the same as we may want to think, if taken at face value. Many democratic governments basically run the state owned news media and dictate their output, which begs the question what is the minimum level of democracy and what exactly makes media "free". • 15. Argumentative Essay On Gymnastics "Gymnastics taught me everything– life lessons, responsibility and discipline and respect," says Shawn Johnson, 2008 Beijing Olympics All Around Gold Medalist. A hotly debated issue is whether or not competitive sports are beneficial for children and teens. (This, though, will focus solely on gymnastics.) However, research shows gymnastics is a perfectly healthy sport which teaches life skills such as time management, sportsmanship, and healthy habits. First, gymnastics teaches time management. For instance, gymnasts have long practice hours. According to Gymnasticscoaching.com and research surveys, these are the average practice times per level: "Level 4 – 6 hours a week = 3 days x 2 hours; Level 5 – 8.75 hrs a week; Level 6 – 11 hours...show more content... In fact, Christopher Bergland stresses that being active as children will lead to being healthy adults, as well as having lifelong habits of working out. Gymnasts definitely are active, as seen in the practice hours mentioned in the first paragraph. In gymnastics, flipping around requires muscle, flexibility, and strength; qualities that are easily transferable to other sports as well. Rita Wieber, the mother of Jordyn Wieber, says nutrition is very important for a gymnast. "Eat what she needs to perform at her best...be as healthy as possible," she writes. Gymnasts usually do their sport until their mid–teens...being told about eating healthy will have a lasting impact on them. On the contrary, doctors and parents argue that because of the nature of gymnastics, gymnasts are susceptible to eating disorders. Actually, gymnasts who get eating disorders are most likely nagged by the coach to lose weight and become stronger. If the coach is verbally abusive and crude, should the gymnast even be training under them? Probably not! Anyways, gymnasts are not likely to be affected by anorexia, bulimia, and the like because gymnastics enriches confidence. Think about it– on beam, gymnasts are flipping on a four feet high, four inches wide piece of wood in front of judges. They put in their hardest work to get the best score possible, and they know it. Furthermore, healthy habits are just a few of the life skills Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions. "...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. • 17. AN OVERVIEW OF THE NIGERIAN ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT | By A. H. Ekpo & 0. J. UmohINTRODUCTION This article overviews the growth and development of the Nigerian economy from inde pendence to present times. Specifically, the following periods are discussed: the pro–oil boom decade (1960–70); the period of the oil boom (1971 1977); the period of stabilisation and structural adjustment (1986 – 1993) and the period of guided deregulation (1994 –1998).GENERAL PERFORMANCE OF THE ECONOMY The Nigerian economy has had a truncated history. In the period 1960–70, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded 3.1 per cent growth annually. During the oil boom era, roughly 1970–78, QDP grew positively by 6.2 per cent annually – a...show more content... There are many reasons for this, but I will focus on one which most analysts ignore. It is the oil resource curse: the easy money from oil which has created a culture of helpless dependence on manna from the Delta, and the consequent political economy based on sharing and consumption rather than baking the cake or wealth creation. Under such a system, production–oriented politics is an anathema. This is not peculiar to Nigeria. As evidence, I posit that there are very few (if any) countries in the world where more than 50 per cent of government revenue comes from such natural resource rents as oil and the political parties and national politics are 'developmental' in terms of their ideology and plans. If there are such countries, they constitute the useful case studies for Nigeria. The question is: are there useful examples of how democratic governments have been able to escape the indolent culture or the lottery effects of easy money from oil to create competitive economies and sustainable prosperity? This is a huge research agenda and a subject for another day. In the first republic, politics and political parties were largely developmental. The regional governments and the political parties that controlled them were concerned mostly about wealth creation because that was the only way they could derive their revenue and survive. Oil money was only beginning to permeate our national body politics when the second republic Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Doubtless, poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take time. Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true. For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very severe and harmful to the environment while others might say that poaching is great because it sells for a lot of profit.
