Optical fiber communications is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber. The light transmitted through the fiber is modulated to carry signal information and transmit data over long distances. Optical fibers allow transmission over longer distances and at higher bandwidths than electrical cables.
