PLATICAR is a knowledge ecosystem for transferring agricultural technology in Argentina. It aims to enable knowledge sharing, not manage knowledge. It uses a knowledge ecosystem metaphor where communities cultivate relationships and practices for creating, integrating, and using knowledge, similar to a biological ecosystem. The knowledge ecosystem decreases the agricultural technology adoption timeframe through education, participation, feedback, and adaptation which builds confidence and lowers failure rates. Building an effective knowledge ecosystem is a long process that requires participatory methods to ensure community ownership.
