Der Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index wertet den Paketversand (Volumen und Umsatz) von 13 wichtigen Märkten aus: Deutschland, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Italien, Norwegen, Schweden, USA, Kanada, Brasilien, China, Japan, Australien und Indien. Zusammen repräsentieren die Märkte 3,8 Mrd. Menschen. Seit 2015 wird der jährliche Index basierend auf unternehmenseigenen und öffentlich zugänglichen Daten erstellt und hat sich zu einem anerkannten Branchenstandard entwickelt. Der Index zeigt, dass das Paketvolumen im Jahr 2019 auf 103 Mrd. Pakete gewachsen ist (2018: 87 Mrd. Pakete) und, wie im Vorjahr prognostiziert, damit erstmals die 100-Mrd.-Marke übersteigt. Größter Treiber dieses Anstiegs ist China: Drei von fünf Paketen in den beobachteten Märkten wurden dort gesendet.
