BACKGROUND:

     Manometers:

           Pressure measuring devices using liquid columns in vertical or inclined tubes are
           called manometers. One of the most common is the water filled U-tube manometer
           used to measure pressure difference in pitot or orifices located in the airflow in air
           handling or ventilation system.

           Vertical U-tube manometer:



                             P = pressure difference
                             γ = specific weight of fluid in the tube
                             h = liquid height

           Inclined U-tube manometer:

θ = angle of column relative to the horizontal plane

Volume Flow Rate:

       Volume flow rate describes the volume of fluid which passes through a given surface
       per unit time.



                         A = cross sectional area
                         v = velocity of fluid

       Fluid velocity:




                         P = pressure difference
                         γ = specific weight of air
