M-Care learning material and tools
M-Care offers Personal Caregiving training via an
innovative online and mobile training platform,
with a gaming component that will allow for
• An interactive learning experience anytime anywhere
(PC, smartphone and tablet PC - both Android- based -
online learning platform/application)
• Multilingual interface
• Following the Open Source approach ("free"), free
provision to VET centres and stakeholders.
4. 539913-LLP-1-2013-1-TR-LEONARDO-LMP
Targeted User Populations
The target end users of the M-CARE products
and tools are the following:
• Low skilled people who want to become PCGs
• People working as PCGs, or as nurse, who want to
extend their skills and benefit from on-the-job
training;
• People with disabilities and older people who want
to provide training material to their PCG or seek
information on assistive technologies;
• VET centres providing training for PCGs that need
additional learning tools.
5. 539913-LLP-1-2013-1-TR-LEONARDO-LMP
Addressing end-users’ needs 1/2
The M-CARE survey results demonstrate that:
• PCGs prefer practical approaches in daily care as the
best form of extra training:
– Ideally supported by a mobile application providing users
with practical examples, videos, testimonials, etc. able to
be used while on the job.
• Most prefer a blended training approach with video
as the best form of training content.
– Preferably supported via course material that can be
offered either in a classroom or via online training platform
and mobile application.
6. 539913-LLP-1-2013-1-TR-LEONARDO-LMP
Addressing end-users’ needs 2/2
• Training centres reported that their course
material is mostly textual (so not attractive to
PCGs). Training centres suggested the use of
group training methods, online tools, practical
training and videos.
– This is addressed through the online platform and
mobile application, and online community portal
• No mobile training program were identified in
the project countries.
– M-CARE offers real innovation via its mobile app.
7. 539913-LLP-1-2013-1-TR-LEONARDO-LMP
Didactical innovation 1/2
M-CARE bridges the worlds of education and work:
• It allows low qualified workers to become expert PCGs
• It allows both professional and informal carers to
improve their PCG knowledge
•It is directly implementable in their daily work, anytime,
anywhere through
– an online learning platform
– an innovative mobile platform
•It also offers VET trainers tools for improved and
innovative PCG training.
8. 539913-LLP-1-2013-1-TR-LEONARDO-LMP
Didactical innovation 2/2
• M-CARE provides its training curriculum to potential PCGs in
traditional ways (face-to-face, via text book), while also taking
advantage of new technologies:
• Mobile learning and web 2.0 offer an online training
environment combined with an interactive community that
enables PCGs to exchange best practices, share experiences &
benefit from available training material (audio, video, text).
• PCG can access training content when being with the
beneficiary to obtain practical support in how to meet certain
needs of the beneficiary.
• The gaming component will also offer the PCG the chance for
stimulating innovative learning.

When and where do we use M-CARE
outcomes? 1/2
(in bold we indicate what technical solution supports
each step)
• M-CARE training consists of following steps:
– A low skilled jobseeker/nurse/current PCG expresses interest in
becoming a PCG or improving his/her skills. – He/She accesses the M-
Care portal at https://www.pcgcare.eu
– Before we allow a PCG candidate to start the training, we perform a
pre-assessment of his/her competences and the suitability (legal &
health checks) of the PCG candidate. This includes also assessing in
what modules the person has experience and expertise. – Online pre-
assessment tool supported via https://www.pcgcare.eu

When and where do we use M-CARE
outcomes? 2/2
• M-CARE training consists of following steps (in bold we
indicate what technical solution supports each step):
– Once approved, the trainee can start his training, either face to face, in a
classroom or remotely. – Online training platform with embedded
dynamic and core and condensed modules at
https://www.pcgcare.eu/learning
– When doing the practical training exercises, or while being on the job the
(potential) PCG can still access training material anywhere anytime through
mobile learning. – Mobile M-Care app, including Assistive Technology
support service, enhanced with an embedded gaming element
– (Potential) PCGs share experiences and good practices, together with other
PCGs, persons with a disability and their families via dedicated forums,
linked to the different curriculum modules. – M-Care portal community at
https://www.pcgcare.eu
