The document discusses the production company Funny Monkey Production and their choices for the budget, distribution, and style of their first film. They chose a small, independent production company name to fit with their small budget of $2 million and distribution by Optimum Releasing, a smaller company that allows more creative control. They aimed to resemble the model of Optimum Releasing, a British company known for funding low-budget films between $1-4 million.

Media question 3
1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY? 3
2. OUR PRODUCTION COMPANY We used this title of Funny Monkey because we wanted our company to not be related with just one genre, so that they can produce other genre movies. Again we chose a production logo based on it being able to be flexible with other genres and so that it can relate to our own film. Main logo
3. WHAT PRODUCTION COMPANY DO YOU REPRESENT? W I think that using a smaller production company relates to what distributor we used, (Optimum Releasing), this is because Optimum is a British Company and provides money for some low budget movies usually producing around 1 – 4 million for every film. We try to resemble what Optimum does so we made our production company small and independent. We are a new company to this industry and this resembles how why we made our company small and independent and why we are using a smaller budget. We decided that our budget would only be small around 2 million because this is our first film that we made and we don’t want to jeopardize our company going bankrupt. We then thought that if we only used a little props to keep the budget down, as they are very dear.
4. DISTRI BUTER? We chose to go with “Optimum Releasing” because they are small distribution company, and they will allows us to take control of our budget and not inter-fear, unlike other companies like 20 th centaury FOX who sometimes don’t allow their director to have full control of the film and the budget. We also thought that the Optimum logo relates well to the film genre we are doing and fits in well with the rest of our production
5. COMAPISON OF BUDGET, PRODUCTION AND DISTIBUTION Compared to the films we researched our budget is a lot smaller than all of films we researched, Johnny English used $40 million, The Bourne Ultimatum $110 million and Casino Royale $150 million. Where as we are persistent with using a small budget so that there isn't a huge risk taken on our first film. We also have a smaller distributor than all the other films we researched, Johnny English and Bourne Ultimatum are distributed by Universal Pictures a major distributor, and Casino Royale which used Columbia Pictures another major distributor, where as ours is made by a small distributor linking back to why we are using a small distributor. We used the “Funny Monkey” production logo to make the company sound small and independent unlike the movies we have researched like Casino Royale which used United Artists and EON Productions, we tried to produce our company so it sounded independent and could work with a small budget.
