3. Today we are using our knowledge of word order
to understand a range of extended sentences
Why? In the GCSE reading exam you will asked to
find words which best fit into sentences and to do
this you have to understand word order
You must: analyze some sentences
You should: predict the words which fit the best in the gaps
giving reasons for your choices
You could: infer meaning by reading between the lines
4. These are the words you will have to try and
predict the correct space for in the text. In
pairs you have 10 minutes to find as much as
you can about these words. Do as much as you
can without the dictionary

5. Now in pairs predict where each of the words best fits. On your
mini whiteboards say why you chose that place.
Hace cinco meses conocí a un chico por Internet. Se
llama Ahmed. Ahora es ……. novio. Me ha enviado su

de comunicación. Piensan ….. puedes hacer nuevos

1) Take the text and categorize the vocabulary and
look up and write into your vocabulary books any
words which you think are useful. AVOCAT might
be a good place to start.
2) Now give the text a GCSE grade according to the
sheet in your books.
3) What would you do to improve it?
4) Now imagine you are Ahmed- what would his side
of this? Where do you imagine he lives, who are
his parents, what is the danger for him, what are
the advantages for him? Can you use the text as
a model to help your draft his version of their
relationship IN SPANISH?
