Learning Outcome 1: Know the range and scope of organisations and occupations within the sports industry
Organisations: providers eg public, private, voluntary, joint and dual use
We have discussed the types of organisations and jobs available within the sports industry, we have also visited a centre and had the opportunity to ask questions of employees. You need to complete task one, by choosing three types of organisations and describing one centre from three organisations eg Describe Plas Menai within the Public Sector. Consider how they are funded, staffing structure, location, facilities available, courses and activities available.Task One : Describe three different types of organisation within the sports industry, giving examples (P1)Organisation 1:Organisation 2:Organisation 3:
Task Two:Describe / Explain three different types of occupations within the sports industry, and the skills that each require (P2 / M1)(for a pass a bullet list is sufficient, with some sentences, however for a merit you need to explain fully using sentences)Occupation 1:Occupation 2:Occupation 3:
,[object Object]
Once you have completed task one, you need to consider the types of jobs available in the sports industry and where these would be based. You now need to pick three different occupations and describe / explain the responsibilities and skills you would need in order to be successful at this type of job.
Learning Outcome 2: Be able to use relevant documents and skills relating to sport-based work experience
Sources of jobs available: eg Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management (ILAM), press, publications and periodicals, SkillsActive, recruitment agencies and websites
Where could you look for employment opportunities within the sports industry?
Sources of Sports Employment Opportunities
Task Three: Independent Research
Using the facilities available to you at Coleg Menai, look for three advertisements from different sources available within the sports industry. Insert these advertisements on a blank page labelling them advertisement 1, 2 and 3. (P3)
Which three different sources did you use?
AdvertsJob TitleSourceAdvert 1Advert 2Advert 3
Work experience: eg placement, part-time employment, full-time employmentUsing the advertisements for jobs available in sport you discovered. You now need to select and identify appropriate work experience in the sports industry. After having a discussion with your tutor you need to select three possible locations for your work experience, expanding why these might be a good choice.(M2)
,[object Object]
