A New Direction’s vision for London

Our aims for the next three years:

—To improve the extent to which all young people can engage in a broad
range of cultural and creative experiences

—To ensure that London’s cultural and creative opportunities for young
people improve and aspire to be the best in the world

—To make sure that young people from all backgrounds have the
opportunity to progress in their chosen creative and/or cultural interest

Bridge Organisation

•   Bridge organisations facilitate networks and make sure there is an ongoing
    dialogue across the arts, culture and education

•   Bridge organisations help schools identify and access arts and cultural
    opportunities

•   Bridge organisations help other arts and cultural organisations, including
    museums and libraries, to bring the cultural experiences that they offer to more
    children and young people

•   Heritage work with young people
•   Arts projects on specific issues (www.trucearts.org)
•   Training opportunities for young people
•   Partnership with local authorities and cultural organisations

CENTRES

              In our CENTRES project we will model the
              Social Enterprise Qualification (SEQ) as a
              means of engaging young people in creative
              entrepreneurship in schools.

Objectives
• To work with 5 schools across London, engaging 30 pupils at
  each to run creative businesses and achieve their SEQ
• To train at least one teacher per school in the SEQ
• To engage 5 mentors from the creative industries to support
  different aspects of project delivery and inspire young people.
