The story describes a tiny and hungry caterpillar that eats various fruits and foods each day of the week, but remains hungry until Saturday when it eats a variety of Indian foods and becomes big and fat. That night it has a stomach ache, but after eating a green leaf on Sunday it feels better. It then makes a cocoon and emerges two weeks later as a beautiful butterfly.
