WELCOME Acknowledge Deanna. Invite everyone to introduce themselves and say what realm they support service-learning in and relationship to day-to-day practice. WHAT DOES PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH MEAN? Abstractly: Reflection is one of the key elements of service-learning and as such, we ask students to reflect on their experiences as part of service-learning projects. I see this as a question of leadership and the dynamic of adult-youth connections. I don’t have an answer to this, but I think the idea provokes the questions about whether adults should ask young people do something they don’t do themselves? And when that is okay? Concretely: This workshop is focused on our efforts to build active reflection and evaluation into our work as service-learning practitioners.
