Technology: “A system based on the application of knowledge, manifested in physical objects and organizational forms, for the attainment of specific goals.” (6)
Technologist: A specialist in some area of technology, who uses scientific knowledge to solve problems
“ When confronting technology, most of us are poorly informed spectators, seemingly incapable of understanding an esoteric realm of laser, microprocessors, gene splicing, and cruise missiles.” (1) Usually, whenever the public is shown a new technological advance, the reaction is “cool”. In terms of most technologies being supported by faith rather than understanding, this is due to none of us being experts in everything. As such, unless you are a electrician, when you walk into a room and turn on the light, you probably don’t think about the sequence of events leading to the light actually being on, and working. Rather, you just flick the switch and only think about the lights if they are NOT working after that.
