2. Kathy the Kangaroo loved her mother's pouch.

3. She loved her aunts and uncles, and living in the mob.

4. Sometimes her uncles and brothers fought.

5. As she got older she began to explore the environment.

6. On Saturday 7th February the fires started.

7. While Kathy looked at the pretty colours the older kangaroos knew it meant danger and began to run.

8. The mob ran from the fire as fast as they could.

9. They escaped the fire but there was nothing left to eat or drink.

10. People began to help. They gave food and drink to the kangaroos.

11. Now Kathy is being cared for, but she can't roam free or explore.
