Digital Identity (will be in Digital Engagement Strategy)
3 types: personal identity, professional identity and ‘for the organisational identity’

Yammer (https://www.yammer.com/) is a microblogging site for business.
GROS and NAS have separate Yammer accounts (gro-scotland.gov.uk and nas.gov.uk)
FCO Digital Diplomacy use it for informal knowledge sharing in a team. An SG site has been set up by the Digital Communications team. Yammer works in the same way as Twitter. You send messages which will be seen by other Yammer users in the SG.
Therefore Yammer is a tool for making organisations more collaborative through the exchange of short frequent answers to one simple question: 'What are you working on?' It doesn’t have a 140 character limit. You can add links to your posts too.
To set up a Yammer account, go to Yammer.com and sign up by entering your work email address. By doing so, you’re letting Yammer know you work for the SG, and Yammer will group you with others with a ‘scotland.gsi.gov.uk’ email address. By this means, the SG has a ‘closed’ microblogging site we can all use to share and collaborate.
There are some other differences between Yammer and Twitter:
Yammer group example. Digital Public Services (public group.)
Groups
Yammer groups are similar to Twitter lists. When you send a message on Yammer it goes to the Company Group by default. But additional public or private groups can be created. A public group is open to anyone who has joined the SG Yammer site. Access to a private group is by invitation only. Messages posted in a public group will show up in the "My Feed" of every member of the group. People outside of the public group can view messages posted in the group by navigating to the group's homepage via the Groups Directory.
RSS feeds
1. RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary). These may be referred to as newsfeeds or feeds. But no need to spell this out unless delegates ask what RSS stands for. More important to say what they’re used for. (Add Knowledge, Information and Records Management)
2. These enable you to get an update of the output of RSS enabled websites, blogs or podcasts without continually visiting the sites. Works like a subscription which you collect in a feed reader like Google Reader.
3. http://www.commoncraft.com/rss_plain_english (Only show if we have time.)
Explain that we’ll demonstrate how to set up an RSS feed using Google Reader later on in the session if we have time.
Customised Homepage. MySaltire start page which offers you the opportunity to build your own new Saltire start page.
Show live by going to Saltire and clicking on MySaltire icon (will be either Paul or Jenny’s)

Blogs usually have RSS feeds on them.
A blog (short for "web log") is a type of webpage that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal (or log). Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author. Blogs usually archive old postings, which can be searched for terms in the archive. Blogs have become a vibrant, fast-growing medium for communication in professional, political, news and other specialized internet communities. One example of a blog is:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/briantaylor/

Twitter is a micro-blogging tool. A micro-blog is similar to a blog, except smaller. Typically entries are brief, often only a sentence. Twitter enables users to send and receive messages limited to 140 characters, known as Tweets. It is like instant messaging to the Web. You can get messages sent to your mobile phone (most people do) or you can log into Twitter as we will do here. (Demo)

All part of the ‘two way conversation’. The human face of government. Different methods for disseminating info. The SG puts SG news out to others and in return others can comment on the SG message.
1. SG Flickr channel
2. Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community platform. In addition to being a popular website for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo repository.[2] The SG has a flickr account. Demonstrate live SG flickr account?
3. Again the human face part of government and a comments field for the public to have their say. Two way dialogue etc.

The Young people's sport panel is a group of 16 young Scots that have been selected to give a voice of young people across Scotland, formed through a partnership between sportscotland and Young Scot.
We’re making the distinction between ‘collaborative/sharing’ tools and ‘sharing only tools’ in this presentation. As well as that we’re distinguishing between secure and non secure collaborative and sharing tools.

Knowledge Hub https://knowledgehub.local.gov.uk/ (150 SG groups)
This is a website platform designed to support collaboration across central government, local government, the public sector and the third sector. It enables like minded people to form online groups using collaboration tools including discussion forums, blogs, document libraries and wikis. A wiki is a web page (or set of web pages) that anyone in the group can edit. You can use a wiki for a variety of things, for example a collaborative policy document, developing a project plan, signposting links to resources, frequently asked questions or a list of good practice and contacts – who's doing what, where?
Knowledge Hub is certified to Impact Level 2 (PROTECT) assurance.
Use if you want a platform where:
• You can see and join other groups
• You can have closed (group members only) or open (to all platform members) groups
• You can share documents and small media files. There are no limits on the amount of data that can be added. Though individual documents and media files can be no larger than 100Mb.

Huddle http://www.huddle.net/about/ (67 active workspaces)
Huddle is a subscription-based web-hosted social networking tool which like SharePoint provides access to online groups or 'workspaces' for project management. People can share/edit documents, calendars, announcements and discussions. It includes a Wiki, which Huddle calls a whiteboard. Huddle can be used to share information with external partners who also use Huddle. Some central government departments use Huddle and the Scottish Government has a contract with Huddle until Feb 2014.

SharePoint Adobe Captivate 5
There are many applications which will allow you to share information in this way. One tool which is used in numerous areas within the Scottish Government is SharePoint. SharePoint is a Microsoft tool. You can share documents, calendars, announcements and discussions. It can be used to share information with external partners who do not have access to eRDM.
Internal SharePoints are certified to Impact Level 3 (RESTRICTED) assurance.
External SharePoints are certified to Impact Level 2 (PROTECT) assurance.
Use an internal SharePoint if you want a platform where:
• You require a closed group only visible to SG staff that integrates with eRDM
• You don’t require to upload large media files as files can be no larger than 50Mb
• You require document version control
• You require a task management feature (assigning tasks to members)
• You require controllable permissions for various group members
Use an external SharePoint if you want a platform where:
• You require a closed group only visible to your group members, and your group will include external (non SG) members
• You don’t require to upload large media files as files can be no larger than 50Mb
• You require document version control
• You require a task management feature (assigning tasks to members)
• You require controllable permissions for various group members
When is a SharePoint site NOT appropriate?
For Scottish Government owned information the following general restrictions apply:
An ‘External’ SharePoint site should not hold documents above ‘unclassified’ status.
An ‘Internal’ SharePoint site for use exclusively by SCOTS users can hold documents up to ‘RESTRICTED’ level because these sites are hosted securely within government security standards.
SharePoint is not designed for interactive multimedia or substantial video content.

Examples of these are Delicious (http://delicious) and Digg (http://digg.com) and Gnizr.
Just like storing favourites or bookmarks within an internet browser, social bookmaking sites let people store their favourite websites online (and therefore accessible anywhere).
Social bookmarking also enables people to share their favourite websites with others. Many of these sites also feature collaborative tagging. Example: An SG colleague uses Delicious to share all his cycling links with other SG colleagues.
