To measure the angle of elevation of a building, one must use a clinometer by looking through it and rotating the protractor to see the top of the building. The angle made on the clinometer scale is the angle of elevation. The clinometer should be held steady at different positions to measure the elevation angle, height of the clinometer, and distance to the building multiple times.

To measure the angle of elevation of the
building, place the clinometer at suitable
location and look through the hollow pipe.

3. Step 2
Rotate the semi-circular protractor so
that the top of the building is visible
through the other end.

4. Step 3
Hold the clinometer steady and record the
angle the string makes on the scale of the
clinometer. This angle is required angle of
elevation.

5. Step 4
Measure the height (l) of the center of
clinometer from the ground.

6. Step 6
Repeat the above procedure keeping the
clinometer at difference position for
measuring the values of theta, l and d for
different setting.

7. Step 6
Repeat the above procedure keeping the
clinometer at difference position for
measuring the values of theta, l and d for
