At least 65% of recruiters are using their employee referral programmes to get
quality talent in India compared with only about 32% in China and Australia each,
according to a recruitment trends survey conducted by LinkedIn, shared with ET.
The India Recruiting Trends 2016 study was conducted among 298 Indian recruiters
or talent acquisition decision makers who work in a corporate HR department and
have some authority in their company's recruitment solutions budget. These
individuals focus exclusively on recruiting, manage a recruiting team, or are HR
generalists.
Indian recruiters were also the most confident about measuring the quality of their
hires (54%) as opposed to recruiters in markets like China (20%) and Australia
(19%). Nearly 39% agreed that quality of hire was the most valua ble performance
metric, 55% said employee referral programmes were the top source of quality
hires, 37% either shared or contributed to employer branding with other functions,
and 36% said employee retention was top priority over the next 12 months.

“Quality of hires emerging as a key performance metric, referrals being
used as a top source of quality candidates, employer branding
becoming a shared responsibility with other functions like marketing,
and employee retention becoming a top priority are some of the major
trends of the study,“ said Irfan Abdullah, director, LinkedIn Talent
Solutions.
The study stated that while hiring volume increase was pretty much the
same this year at 76% and at 78% last year, 63% employers reported a
hike in recruiting budgets this year in India, down from 71% last year.
Abdullah expects employee referral programmes, employer branding
and internal hiring to get stronger in 2016 and beyond.
