4. Why Student Information System?
• An attempt to use technology to solve the very
fundamental issues plaguing our school education
sector
• An attempt to identify and trace out the children by
allotting an unique id code linked with Aadhar
number.
• student’s academic status and drop outs can be
tracked.
• Ghost students can be arrested (i.e, duplication of
data is eradicated) which resulted lot of savings in all
incentives like Mid day meals, Text books and
Uniforms etc.,
4
5. How Student Information System Established?
• A format is designed for taking (6-16) age group children data from
the Schools.
• Data collected with the help of HMs and CRPs.
• The information is digitalized at Block/School level and uploaded
into SIS.
• Validation was done with reference to attendance register of each
school.
• Each child is linked with Aadhar in convergence with SRDH(UIDAI)
to arrest duplicate students.

8. Strength of SIS
Real time Students Data Upto School Level
Tracking of Dropout Students
On Ground Reality with factsReduces the implementation cost
Instant implementation of suggestions and modifications based
on Data
Planning Execution and Monitoring
Meet exactly to the requirements
Knowledgeable support to stake holders (SSA,RMSA,MID Day
Meals etc.)
On time problem solution with the help of statistics
9. Outcomes and benefits of SIS with U-DISE – (b)
Monitoring of National level schemes like Mid Day Meal,
Scholarship schemes etc. will be possible through SIS
SIS will create a platform for Vocational Education system
by monitoring the students option for Vocational courses
at Secondary level of education
SIS will build a database of students aspiring for science,
commerce, humanities streams at Higher Education level
SIS will help to monitor RTE parameters
SIS will provided Centralized Common Minimum
Framework to the states to build and expand their existing
systems (if available)
SIS (data entry) can be made available to states in their
local regional language (Not yet ready)
10. Outcomes and benefits of SIS with U-DISE – (a)
Generate cross-sectional enrolment tables
In future, tracking of students using AADHAAR will be
made possible
Gradually, SIS will help to create Student-Teacher
relationship which will lead to Teacher Performance and
Teacher monitoring
Gradually SIS and will also create a platform for Parent-
Teacher interaction
SIS will be useful for states to monitor and assess the
needs of uniform distribution, textbook distribution (by
language), Transport facility, Residential facility and any
other state specific facility provided to students,
Monitoring of National level schemes like Mid Day Meal,
Scholarship schemes etc. will be possible through SIS
11. Outcomes and benefits of SIS with U-DISE – (c)
SIS will provide dynamic and flexible facility to states to
add n number of additional supplementary variables
which can be maintained in the same database along with
the National level variables. Data entry and Cross-
sectional Reports on these additional Supplementary
variables will also be available in the same module.
