2. –Pope Francis
“The internet, in particular, offers immense
possibilities for encounter and solidarity. This is
something truly good, a gift from God.”
Bergoglio, Jorge Mario. “Communication at the Service of an Authentic Culture of Encounter.” Vatican.va.

5. “Believers are increasingly aware that, unless the
Good News is made known also in the digital world,
it may be absent in the experience of many people
for whom this existential space is important. The
digital environment is not a parallel or purely
virtual world, but is part of the daily experience of
many people, especially the young.”
–Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
Ratzinger, Joseph Aloisius. “Social Networks: portals of truth and faith; new spaces for evangelization.”

14. Tip #2: Private is not always private.
Have you ever wondered, “How do web sites
know so much about me?”
15. Update your Privacy Settings regularly.
200 Friends x 200 Friends = 40,000 “Friends”!
16.
17. Tip #3: People lose their inhibitions online.
• “You don’t know me”
• “You can’t see me”
• “See you later”
• “It’s all in my head”
• “It’s just a game”
• “We’re equals”
25. Tip #8: Social media can become an addiction.
Social media has overtaken watching online pornography
as the #1 most popular activity online.
26. “Maybe many young people waste too many hours
on futile things…”
“…chatting on the Internet or with smartphones,
watching TV soap operas, and (using) the products
of technological progress, which should simplify
and improve the quality of life, but distract
attention away from what is really important.”
–Pope Francis
Scherer, Steve. “Pope urges young people not to waste time on Internet and smartphones.”
