Get Over Fear of Driving by Understanding Your
Anxiety Symptoms

A lot of people are afraid of driving. There are those whose fear is so great that the
mere thought of driving can precipitate a panic attack. Anxieties and fears can be
disabling and can greatly affect your daily life if you don't find ways to manage them.
There are several things you can do to get over fear of driving.

The first step to get over fear of driving is to understand your fear, its underlying
cause and the symptoms you experience every time you get an attack. Fears
manifest on people differently. You can't expect another person with the same fear
to experience all the symptoms that you have. This being said, treatments for
phobias and fears should be individualized and focused on the person who is having
the attacks. Just because a treatment worked for one person, doesn't mean the
same treatment will work for you.

Phobias and anxiety attacks share the same set of symptoms. You may experience
any of these physical manifestations during an attack:

- Restlessness
-Increase heart rate and palpitations
-Nausea or stomachache
-Dizziness
-Chills
-Headache

There is no specific cause for phobias and fears but studies have shown that it may
be a familial condition passed on from one generation to the next. It can also be
caused by excess or insufficient neurotransmitters such as Serotonin and
Norepinephrine. One of the most common causes of these conditions is stress. If you
are not able to cope with stress effectively, there is a great chance that you may
develop this condition.

For you to get over fear of driving, it's important to know what causes it. Sometimes,
just finding a solution for the underlying problem can get rid of your fear. If your fear
stems from not being confident enough about your driving skills, you can enroll in a
driving school so you can improve your skills. If your anxiety is caused by a
traumatic car accident, you may need to undergo a few psychotherapy sessions or
take medications like Zoloft.

In psychotherapy, you will learn how to identify stressors, negative behaviors and
thoughts so you can easily identify those that you have to focus on. Once you've
identified your stressors, you will learn how to cope with these stressors so you won't
have to experience an attack every time you are faced with stress.

Get over fear of driving and see how easy it is to live life without your fear. Choose
the kind of treatment you think is right for you and commit yourself to this treatment
until you no longer experience an attack.
