- … in addition to a white label for Borders called Borders Get Published whose revenue is doubling monthly. We’re pursuing additional white label partnerships to expand our reach.
- The eBook market is heating up. The Assoc of American Publishers reports sales growing 300% per year, and they expect it to be a $6B market by 2012.
- I’ve seen this before when I ran personal home page services at AOL and 10 million people published pages in just 3 years. It’s not long before people think of “books” first as digital products, just like they do now with music.
- We’re targeting three groups: Authors who already self-publish 87K new print titles each year. Online publishers who want their content to generate revenue through eBook sales channels. People who make printed books to send to friends & family. Blurb published 250K such titles last year alone, and we think many of those will shift to eBooks this year.
- Where do we come in? Right now it's a pain for non-technical writers to correctly format their content for every major device and app. They have to be experts in XHTML and register for at least 5 different services.
- With BookBrewer, they use simple editing tools and work with one service. We can even hook them up with our recommended editors and designers.

- Our revenue model is simple. For each title, we make $90 in setup fees plus a minimum of $10/year in royalties. Since we’re starting to attract previously-published authors who are abandoning publishing houses, some royalties could be even higher. You may have heard that Seth Godin recently declared that he’s never publishing traditionally again, and a lot of authors are following his lead.
- We’re also upselling authors on things like copy editing and cover designs. One quarter of our users say they would pay $1,000 or more for a bundle of such services. Based on this, we project $10Min revenue from 50,000K titles, and $40M from 200,000 (like Blurb).
- Compared to the competition, we’re in a nice middle ground. Some charge more, but they focus more on Print on Demand, with eBooks as an afterthought. Others charge less or nothing, but they have no publishing tools. We offer a complete end to end eBook solution for a fair price.
- After bootstrapping for 6 months and securing a major partnership, we're now seeking $400,000 in seed funding that will allow us to enhance the product and secure more marketing partnerships like our successful Borders deal.
