New: Facebook Privacy and Tagging Settings
Making it Easier to Share Exactly What You Want with Who You Want To.  Have you ever wondered, “Who can see this?” while posting a status or picture on Facebook? Facebook’s new privacy settings answer this question. “The main change with the latest update is that most of the privacy controls from the settings page will be inline, right next to the posts, photos and tag they affect.” - Facebook Blog Why has Facebook made these changes? To mimic Google+ of course!
What Shows Up on Your Profile Content on your profile, from your interests to your latest photo album, will appear next to an icon and a drop-down menu. This inline menu lets you know who can see this part of your profile, and you can change it with one click. You can also edit these settings within your wall:

When You Share Something New You can now control for who can see each post on your wall right inline with the post. This dropdown menu will be expanding over time to include smaller groups of people you may want to share with, like co-workers, Friend Lists you've created, and Groups you're a member of. This will make it easy to quickly select exactly the audience you want for any post. Before, you had the option to share a post with “Everyone”, which meant that anyone on the internet might be able to see it. Now, “Everyone” is labeled “Public.” Indicating anyone may see it, but not everyone will see it. Image Source: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150251867797131
Photo Tags Before, photos you were tagged in would show up on your profile immediately after you were tagged.  Now, you can choose to use the new tool to approve or reject any photo or post you are tagged in before it's visible to anyone else on your profile. How this relates to Business Pages - - A company can be tagged by users who want to mention it but who haven’t taken the time to officially “Like” it. Plus, tags now must be approved by users. Therefore, it is easier to filter unwanted posts or spam. Image Source: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150251867797131
Photo Tags You have the option to review and approve or reject any tag someone tries to add to your photos and posts. When you deny a tag, you'll have a several options. You can automatically remove the tag Request the photo be taken down Or block the user who tagged you. This feature will make it easier to avoid spam posts on business Pages as well.   Image Source: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150251867797131
The Most Important Aspect of These Privacy Changes for Facebook Pages Before, you could only tag someone if you were friends with them, and you could only tag a Page if you had liked it.  Now, you can add tags of your friends, anyone else on Facebook or any Facebook Page. When you are tagged by a non-friend, it won't appear on your profile unless you review and approve the post. Before, you could only “check in” to a location using a smart hone. Now, you can add a location (a business location) at any time. Image Source: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150251867797131
The Most Important Aspect of These Privacy Changes for Facebook Pages Fans of your business can now tag your business in status updates without first having to “like” your business page. By either tagging the location or tagging the page. This change opens up another channel for (potential) customers to interact with a brand and more importantly, for Page admins to respond to those who have expressed interest in your business outside of just those who like your page or own a smartphone. Where are you? At a business? You can tag it. Who can see these tags? Talking about a brand? You can tag it.
Overview of Changes The privacy settings are moving toward individual post windows and profiles. Users are gaining the ability to approve tags of themselves in others’ posts and photos. All tags will include an attribution of the person who did the tagging. Places no longer require physical check-ins, so people can add locations to posts, even from the desktop. You don’t need to be friends with someone to tag them in a post or photo. You don’t have to like a brand to tag it in a post or photo. Facebook has changed the word “everyone” to “public” in privacy settings, for clarity. You can customize privacy, or visibility of information, on a post-by-post basis. Users can edit the visibility of individual bits of content anytime after they post. The changes don’t affect mobile users, at least not for now.
