World War I started as a local war between Austria
–Hungary and Serbia in 1914. It escalated into a
war that involved 32 countries. The participants in the war were Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and
the United States. These countries fought against the Central Powers which included Germany,
Austria–Hungary, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria.
The immediate cause of World War Iwas the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria
–Hungary. In June 1914, a Serbian–nationalist terrorist group called The Black Hand sent groups of
people to go and kill the Archduke. The first attempt to assassinate the Archduke failed when
someone threw a grenade at the car the Archduke was in, but the grenade bounced off the car and
landed in a crowd of people, killing multiple civilians. Later that day, a Serbian nationalist named
Gavrilo Princip assassinated the Archduke and his wife while they were in Sarajevo, Bosnia which
was part of Austria–Hungary. This assassination led to Austria–Hungary declaring war on Serbia.
After that, Russia began to mobilize because of its alliance with Serbia, Germany then declared war

The First World War was a global central in Europe that began on 28 july 1914 and lasted until
November 11 1918. The three most important cause of world war 1 are militarism, nationalism, and
alliance.
Militarism is one of the most important causes of world war 1.Militarism means that the army
and military forces are given by the government. Militarism was used by Great Britain and
Germany, as they both stock up their military, preparing for war. Great Britain and Germany built
up their navy and military for war and so the more one nation built up its army and navy, the more

Dual Alliance completed Unifying the center of Europe against war by signing the Triple alliance

with the most power the "mother country." Imperialism contributed to World War in the way that
the amount of land that Britain and France owned infuriated Germany and heightened their
rivalry. By the 1900's the British empire extended over 5 continents, but France had control over
the largest part of Africa. Through all of this imperialism caused countries to have to have new
markets. When a country owns a market they say who gets to trade and by goods there, this
caused rivalry against the countries. In 1914 this rivalry was sparked into war. Many things led
to the cause of World War 1. The three main cause of World War 1 were Mutual Defence
Alliances, Militarism, and Imperialism. The Alliances were a big part of World War 1 because if
any member of the alliances were found in a war this would activate the alliances they were in.
Militarism was pride in the military. This caused the the people to want to have the best military and
the most people to join the military. Imperialism is to extend the military's power and influence
through their military

World War I was considered the War To End All Wars. World War I started in 1914 and continued
on until 1918. In 1917 The United States entered the war. Fighting was officially announced over in
1919 when a peace treaty was signed. Although all war is grueling, many positive technology
advancements came from the basic need for them. World War Ihad a different meaning to America
and the rest of the world and thus had a different causes and effects.
The cause for foreign countries to enter the war connect to many things. The assassination of
Archduke Ferdinand is the spark that started the war. Ferdinand was the archduke of
Austria–Hungary and was assassinated in June of 1914. The cause of the archduke's assassination

Nationalism made people believe that their country is best country. This belief allowed people to
see their country as a flawless, and thus caused conflict among European nations. This conflict
contributed to the start of the war. Once the war the war was ended several effects came about to
foreign countries. The most noticeable effect that several new countries were established. Some of
the new countries created include: Poland, Finland, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. Also, German
suffered many hardships because they signed the Treaty of Versailles. The treaty forced Germany
weaken their military. They were no longer allowed to use the draft and they were limited to six
battleships. Further, they had to hand over all their colonies and give 44,000 square miles of land to
the allies. In short, the war was started by hatred and pride, but ended with mixed results.
America's entrance into the war is attributed to many different causes. Past relationships was a major
cause of the war. The United States had alliances with France, England, and Russia before conflict
began in Europe. These alliances ended up dragging America into the the War. Although the U.S.
tried to stay neutral and not favor the allies, the U.S. ended up having more business with the
