2. We Belong to God
Having ransomed Himself for us,
God purchased us with His precious
blood so that His life may be ours.
Since then, we no longer belong to
ourselves but that Christ lived in us
through the Holy Spirit that is given
us.The law of the Spirit of Life has
set us free from sin and death and
therefore, as children we are to walk
3. Unity with Christ
With Christ within us, even if the body
dies, as a consequence of sin, the spirit
keeps on living for it is in the grace of
God. In Romans 8: 11, St. Paul says âIf
the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus
from the dead dwells in you, the one
who raised Jesus from the dead will give
life to your mortal bodies also, thought
the Spirit that dwells in you.â
4. Unity with Christ
Our oneness with Him allows Him to
transform our physical death into a passage
to eternal life with Him instead of this being a
consequence of sin when the time comes for
us to leave this world. Death becomes a
transition for a new life of everlasting joy.
Thus, death loses its sting. Those who strive
to follow Jesus lives in faith, hope and love.
Our continuous effort to be one with Him
frees us from sin and would because us to
experience death as the beginning of a new
5. The Road to Eternal Life
â I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father
except through me. (Jn. 14: 6)â
-TheWAY of Jesus is the way of love.
-TheTRUTH He brings to us is the
Word of God and the good news of
our salvation.
-Jesus is LIFE.
6. The Road to Eternal Life
âCome, deny yourself, take up
your cross, and follow Me.â
(Mk. 8: 34)
Only through following Jesus
can we go to the Father.
7. The Road to Eternal Life
We have to deny ourselves because
it is in dying to ourselves- our selfish
wants, our self- centeredness, and
our pride that we exercise love
through service to our fellowmen. It
means having to give up our
comforts and conveniences if
necessary for the sake of love and
service to others.
8. The Road to Eternal Life
God is love and because we are born
in His image and likeness, we have
to take up our cross like He did for
love of others. Thus, if we are
persecuted, treated unfairly,
betrayed, and discriminated, we are
to embrace our trials, our pains, and
our burdens offering these to the
Father for the forgiveness of sins-
9. The Road to Eternal Life
With the Spirit of God within us, a
burning desire to serve and love
God is created in us and we begin
to follow Jesus, living as He lived
on earth and praying with the
Spirit to the Father with the
Spirit assuring us that we are
Godâs children and heirs of

WS # 3
1. Are you afraid to die? Why or why not?
2. If you compare your faith to that of Peter and the
apostles, how deep is yours? Explain.
3. Why do we say that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the
Life?
4. What did Jesus mean when He said, âDeny yourself, take
up your cross, and follow Me.?
5. Why do we need to be one with Jesus in every way?
6. What are the consequences if we do not take His
teaching seriously and just live our lives the way we
want to?
11. The Reality of Heaven,
Purgatory, and Hell and
Particular Judgment
Determination includes
ardent desire manifested
through action to achieve
the goal.
12. The Reality of Heaven,
Purgatory, and Hell and
Particular Judgment
Those who die in grace and friendship of God
and are perfectly purified will live with Christ
forever.Together with theVirgin Mary, the
angels and all the blessed they shall live in
communion with the Most HolyTrinity.This
perfect life with God- the communion of life
and the love with theTrinity, with the People
of God in heaven along with the Blessed
Mother and the angels is called âHeavenâ. It is
more than a place since it is beyond time and
space. It is a state of being with the Lord.
13. The Reality of Heaven,
Purgatory, and Hell and
Particular Judgment
If heaven is real, the Church explicitly
affirms hellâs existence and eternity for
those who die in the state of mortal sin.
When a person dies in this grievous state
of sin, he immediately descends there
where he suffers the punishment of
eternal fire. In Scriptures, Jesus often
speaks of gehenna; that unquenchable
fire reserved for those who refuse to
believe and be converted to the end of
14. The Reality of Heaven,
Purgatory, and Hell and
Particular Judgment
A self- serving and self- centered life
results in the ultimate irrevocable
self- exclusion from communion
with God and the blessed and this is
called âhellâ.
The essence of hell, therefore, is the
loss of God and this is more painful
than the suffering one goes through
in the eternal flames.
15. The Reality of Heaven,
Purgatory, and Hell and
Particular Judgment
All who die in Godâs grace and friendship, but
are still imperfectly purified achieve the
holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven
through purgatory.
Purgatory is not a waiting room where we
have penalties a punishment from God for our
sins. It is an expression of Godâs love and
merry for it cleanses a person of the remnants
of evil that makes him unable to make him
enjoy the abundance of love and happiness
that is found in God alone.
16. The Resurrection of the
Body and the Last
Judgment
Justice is giving what one deserves.
At the end time, this will either be
eternal life with God or eternal
punishment.
17. Particular vs. Last Judgment
âą The distinction between the time of the general judgment
and particular judgment is very straightforward. At the time of
each oneâs death, each one is judged either as worthy of the
eternal life of heaven (which may first require a âstop offâ in
purgatory for purification from any last remaining
imperfections) or are separated from God and consigned to
the eternal loss of hell. This immediate judgment upon dying
is known as the âparticular judgment.â It awaits all of us at the
very moment that we die and it will be clear in an immediate
way.
âą The âlast judgmentâ is that act of judgment which
accompanies the glorious return of Jesus Christ in His second
coming, when He comes âto judge the living and the deadâ (as
we say in professing the Nicene Creed). The manner of this
general judgment is characterized by Jesusâ own words in
Matthew 25:31-46, as Jesus speaks of how He will separate the
sheep from the goats, saying to the sheep at His right that
18. Second Coming of Christ
âąLast and Final Judgment
âąThis tells us of Christâs second
coming at the end of time or the
parousia, which will coincide with
the resurrection of the dead and
the manifestation of the future
world where our Lord comes as
Lord and Judge of the living and the
dead.
19. Second Coming of Christ
The Last Judgment will
reveal that Godâs justice
triumphs over all the
injustices committed by
His creatures and that
Godâs love is stronger than
20. Time of Last Judgment
Only the Father knows the day and
the hour of the Last Judgment. Only
He determines the moment of its
coming. The coming of the Day of
the Lord or the parousia is likened to
a thief in the night, if we are not
prepared, we will lose everything.
Therefore, we all have to be vigilant
and sober.
21. Time of Last Judgment
For the people of the world:
- People who walk with the Lord do not
know what life is all about and are foolish
for holding on to things that are not yet
there- obscure and uncertain
- -rather believe that the things of the
world are what is real since they can
touch, feel, see and her, own, or possess
now.
- Paganistic outlook: âeat, laugh, and be
merry for tomorrow we shall dieâ
22. Time of Last Judgment
We have to remind ourselves that all
these things that the world offers
are temporary and passing.
We do not know when we will die,
but are we ready and prepared to
face our God and to be counted on
as one of those who live eternally
and happily with Him?
23. Message of the Last Judgment
The message of the Last Judgment calls
men to conversion.
The Last Judgment will reveal that
Godâs justice triumphs over all the
injustices committed by His creatures
and that Godâs love is stronger than
death.
In here, we need a life of prayer so that
we remain in God and He in us.We need
His grace in everyday struggle to love
and be faithful to His command.
