This document provides instructions for setting up a development environment for Android Wear, including signing up for the developer preview, checking that the Android Developer Tools (ADT) are up to date, installing the Android SDK and Android Wear system image, and agreeing to necessary licenses. The process takes approximately 1.5 hours and involves downloading, extracting, and installing files before restarting Eclipse to complete the setup.
9. Check ADT Version
● You need ADT 22.6.1 or higher
○ http://developer.android.com/wear/preview/start.html
● Run ADT
● Mac: Go to ADT > About ADT
● PC: Help > About???
10. Install Android SDK
Fresh install, if:
+You don’t have it installed yet
+or, Your ADT is too old
Instructions are for Mac OS only.
Windows, Linux steps may vary slightly.

12. Unzip and Rename
● Unzip the downloaded adt file
● Rename the extracted folder
○ Example: “Android ADT - yyyymmdd”
○ Where yyyymmdd is the Download Date
13. Install Android SDK
● Move the renamed folder to Applications
● Go to Applications > Android ADT > eclipse
● Drag and drop Eclipse.app to your Dock
14. Run Eclipse for the First Time
● Run Eclipse from your Doc
● On the warning popup, click Open
Select your Workspace folder, click OK
15. Check for Updates
● From ADT, go to Help > Check for Updates
● If it says no updates found, you’re all set
17. Open Android SDK Manager
● From Eclipse, go to Window > Android SDK
Manager
18. Tools and Android 4.4.2 Sections
● Under Tools, verify:
○ Android SDK Tools has a Rev of 22.6 or higher
● Under Android 4.4.2, select (check mark):
○ Android Wear EABI v7a System Image
19. Extras Section, Install Packages
● Under Extras, put a check mark on Android
Support Library, IF the Status column says
an update is available
● Click Install Packages
20. Agree to Android SDK License
● Click on Android SDK Tools
● Click on Accept License
21. Agree to Intel License, Install
● Click on Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator
● Click Accept License
● Click Install
