In this blog post you will learn how to create a lead generation
machine using a lightbox or pop up. It’s super easy todo and
can produce results instantly.
First, lets define a light-box and a pop up. A light box is an opt-
in box that appears on someones screen after a certain amount
of time or if someone tries to leave the page.
This is called exit intent and not all lightbox applications
have this feature. When lightboxes pop up the background is
dimmed or grayed out so the viewer only focuses on the opt-
in box.
A pop up or sometimes called a pop over is the exact same as
a light box accept the background is not grayed out.
Why do should you create a light-box or a pop over?
Because you will increase the amount of leads you get…period.
According to research done by GetResponse, the leading
autoresponder company, “Marketers report 500-1300%
increases in sign-ups when they add light-boxes or pop overs.”
I’m sure a lot of you have are thinking but pop ups and light
boxes are invasive and annoying. If you misuse them, they
are annoying but to be honest, the reason why they’re so
effective is because they are invasive.
Just remember there are good ways and bad ways to use light-
boxes and pop overs. I’m going to show you how to use them
correctly. We’re going to use some of the best practices, and
actually those best practices also tend to get the highest opt-
in rates.
We’re going to do things like delay when they’re shown, i.e.,
people won’t see them until they’ve been on your website
for 15-20 seconds. We’re also not going to show them every
time people come to your website, showing the lightbox or pop
up every seven to fourteen days.
There are other techniques for getting light-boxes to be less
invasive, but I’m going to keep it simple for you and we’re going
to get the best results possible in a very short period of time.
There are several free ways to create lightboxes and pop ups.
One way is to use your autoresponder. If you have get response
you can use this PDF to help you create a light box or pop up.
The only drawback is GetResponse does not have an exit intent
feature.
Another way to create a lightbox or pop up is to use a
wordpress plugin called PopupAlly. This is a free plugin that
looks really nice and more importantly they have an exit intent
feature. There are many plugins you can use but very few free
plugins with the exit intent feature. That’s why I’m going to
teach you how to about this plugin.

How To Install PopupAlly To Your
WordPress Site:
1. INSTALL POPUPALLY THROUGH PLUGIN DIRECTORY.
Go menu Plugins -> Add New
2. SEARCH FOR ‘POPUPALLY’, THEN CLICK ON ‘INSTALL
NOW’
Download the latest PopupAlly version from the WordPress
directory
3. WHEN INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE CLICK ON
‘ACTIVATE’ (OR NETWORK ACTIVATE)

CONGRATULATIONS! You have now successfully installed
PopupAlly!
You should now see the PopupAlly menu item on the sidebar
How to Customize Your Style Settings:
Go to menu PopupAlly -> Style Settings
PopupAlly provides you 2 popups to work with for free. If you
want more, you’ll have to purchase them and by upgrading
to PopupAlly Pro.
It is recommended you give the popup a name.
Integration using GetResponse
PopupAlly just needs the HTML code provided by
GetResponse and it will handle the rest. Here is a quick guide
on how to get the code from GetResponse:
1. CLICK ON ‘CREATE NEW’ ON WEB FORMS MENU.
2. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING JUST CLICK NEXT.
3. TWO OPTIONS CREATE A THANK YOU PAGE OR JUST
USE THE DEFAULT. WE WILL USE THE DEFAULT. NAME
THE WEB FORM AND CLICK NEXT.
4. CHOOSE ‘SHOW HTML CODE’ AND DISABLE ‘INCLUDE
CSS STYLES’. THEN COPY THE HTML CODE TO THE
‘SIGN-UP FORM HTML’ BOX IN POPUPALLY

Once you have the HTML, just copy and paste it into ‘Sign-up
form HTML’. Once you click out of the text box, two additional
fields will appear, allowing you to select the input fields for
name and email.
NOTE: If the HTML code is incorrect, you will get an error
message.

This is your task for the next hour. Once you’re done with your
pop up lightbox, CELEBRATE! Because this
is extremely effective for your lead generation. You’ve set them
up in a way that is not going to make
the people who visit your site annoyed, and you’re going to get
