Henri Matisse was a French artist who was famous for his use of color, line
and pattern in his art. He was born on December 31, 1869 and died on
November 3, 1954.Matisee was also a printmaker, and sculptor, but mostly he
was a painter. Matisse is one of the best-known artists of the twentieth
century. He used simplified lines and made the subject of the painting easy to
read because he exaggerated the drawing and used brilliant but random
colors. Looking at portraits by Matisse reminds us to focus on color, line and
pattern.
