Our strength is – People
Utilize the background of Chief and council members, band staff and community
members.
 Pooling the assets and experience to gain perspective.
 Council has a varied background(s) to bring to the discussions with a mixture
of college degrees, successful business people and with varied life experiences.
 Keys to our success have been leadership and location.
 We have council members who are running their own business. Offering the
entrepreneurial perspective.
 Utilizing the views of community members.
 Working together to make the best possible decision Teamwork –A proven best
practice for sure!

 Successful partnerships have to benefit both/all
parties or it will not work!!
 To be successful you have to have a clear
understanding of your own strengths – what do you
bring to the dance.
 This self evaluation can be difficult but is necessary.

 The model for the Power Center is to attract
businesses who want to partner with us for
long-term sustainability. We work with them to
structure a jointly beneficial arrangement at
the outset... and then let the company focus on
running the operation - to do what they have
expertise in doing.

 We talk with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern
Development Canada AANDC on a regular basis
regarding economic development projects, sharing
ideas and future plans
 We have a similar strong relationship with the
Province of Nova Scotia Aboriginal Affairs group

 We have the same partner(s) that has worked into
several different opportunities
 Super 8 in Power Centre has turned into 5 additional
investments in 3 provinces and we have sold our
interest in the Super 8 several years ago, but still deal
with one of the partners.
